I’m not super familiar with metal (yet, first album), but compared to the other metal I do know, I liked this one a lot. A good few of the songs sounded closer to rock to me than to something like Metallica.
Particularly liked Charlotte the Harlot.
Disliked the first half of the album although a few of the later songs I liked more. Definitely prefer the other Chilli Peppers music I’ve heard.
Pretty funny album. Not my personal preference in genre and I didn’t like all the songs, but I did like most of them. I particularly liked Butter and already knew Check the Rhime.
Fine album, not really my thing. I prefer the other Outkast music I’ve heard. The interludes were cool. Favourite song Ms. Jackson.
Really liked it. Cream is a band I’ve been meaning to check out more from for a couple years. I do prefer the other stuff I’ve heard from them and so I have a feeling I’ll like their later albums more, but it’s an album I’ll definitely listen to again. Probably going to add Strange Brew to the halloween playlist and my favourite song was We’re Going Wrong.
May raise criteria for a 5* later down the line, but,
Liked it well enough, no particular song stuck out as a favourite though.
Really really really liked it. To the extent that I would’ve liked to download it. However, it’s region locked, and I could only watch an upload of it on youtube. Ya~y.
Favourite song probably Eriatarka.
Neutral, closer to a 3 than a 2 though. I’m positive I had a favourite song from the album but I didn’t write it down and now I can’t figure out which it was… Overall I prefer the first half of the album though. Already knew Enter Sandman.
I really remembered having heard this album before but I didn’t remember it at all so I guess I hadn’t. Was very excited to see it come up considering it’s so hyped up but I was somewhat disappointed. Not bad by any means but probably my least favourite Pink Floyd album I’ve heard so far.
Favourite song Money.
Really good!! Listened to it twice, it’s good background music. I thought I’d have more to say about it but I guess I don’t, favourite song Being Boring.
I listen to a good bit of folk music but I’ve never really listened to any this old before besides covers. Really interesting comparison. No particular favourite song but I liked the album.
Pretty good, I listened to it on a walk and it made for good background music. Not the biggest fan of ~10 minute songs individually but it works to listen to as an album. Favourite song Four Cornered Room.
Really really liked the first half of the album, sounds like some I would’ve listened to in 2019 or so. Second half went off the rails. Might’ve been a 4 if the songs were in a different order but the whiplash was way too much.
I’m not great at focusing on songs in languages besides the two I know so this album loses points for that although obviously it doesn’t weigh on the objective quality. Favourite song was Orgullecida.
Very chill instrumentation. Not the kind of music I’d listen to normally but I definitely liked it. Favourite song No More Trouble.
All things considered a little bit underwhelming. I liked it fine but the songs kind of blended together. Can’t dislike an album with harmonica though!!
Favourite song Desolation Row, since I already knew it.
Not the biggest fan of music without vocals plus I am familiar with another Miles Davis album which I prefer to this one.
Liked it. Honestly very little to say about this album. I like this sort of thing. Favourite song Sacred Love.
Genuinely shocked by how much I liked this album. Easily my favourite rap music I’ve ever listened to (excluding songs I like because I’ve heard them a million times). Tentatively favourite song Girls, Girls, Girls but I liked most of them so it’s hard to choose. Five stars instead of four because I like specifically this album, rather than liking it because of the genre. Also was not expecting to hear Japanese on this album!
Pretty good. Had it on as background noise during a focus requiring activity so didn’t pay total attention but I liked it a lot. Favourite song definitely Big Time.
Wasn’t familiar with any of these songs and prefer the other Stones music that I am familiar with by a lot. Also wasn’t able to pay full attention while listening so that may have something to do with it. Didn’t dislike it though.
Was already familiar with Running Up That Hill and liked it, but was surprised the whole rest of the album has a very consistent and similar vibe. Really really liked it. Kind of fantasy-like.
Really really liked the instrumentals, exactly my thing for this kind of music. Really did not like the vocals or lyrics. Favourite song Sunflower.
The kind of thing I would’ve definitely liked in 2017-18~, and I still occasionally listen to this kind of music now so it gets a boost for genre. However within that type of music I didn’t find it all that remarkable. Favourite song Til the Tide Creeps In.
Another okay, probably would’ve liked it in 2017-type of pop punk album. It was a decent listen and I like the instrumentals but overall not the most interesting. No song really stuck out as a favourite.
Didn’t dislike the music itself per se but sitting through three hours of it was a slog. Probably just down to my lack of familiarity with the genre, but a lot of it sounded a little Christmas music-y to me…. I’d rate it a lot higher if it was just the first twenty-odd songs, I either liked those the most or just was way too burned out for the rest of it.
Pretty cool and interesting album all things considered but I would definitely not be in a rush to listen to it again. It was kind of a lot. Favourite song Stop This Crazy Thing.
(Also future me rereading these reviews listen to the first minute of the album again just do it)
It’s just jazz music. No lyrics so I’m not that surprised I didn’t like it. However…..! I feel like it’s the exact right kind of boring that would probably be really effective to listen to while studying. So I may actually listen to it again.
Was fine, idk. Not much thoughts. Favourite song Piece of my Heart.
Didn’t like it as quite much as I thought I would but still good. Already knew Bad Moon Rising and liked the other similarly mildly spooky songs. Favourite Sinister Purpose.
Overall decent album but absolutely loved Red Morning Light. First song I’ve downloaded so far!
Insanely good intro to the album but nothing really matched it subsequently.
Didn’t like it, for similar reasons to vocal-less jazz music in a lot of ways but unlike with jazz music I found it absolutely impossible to focus while listening to it and definitely didn’t like it enough to warrant my full attention on the music.
Pretty fine as far as rap music goes, I liked the instrumentals. Not my thing though
Liked it okay. 80s pop music influences are so everywhere that it felt a bit boring but that’s not this album’s fault. Was sometimes hard to make out the lyrics because of the vocal style, especially in the first song. Favourite song maybe Love Less?
Good album, liked it a lot. A bit nostalgic, I dunno. Favourite song I Am Trying To Break Your Heart.
Solid album, I liked the dreamy sort of feel of the vocals and instrumentals. Favourite song Dream Brother.
Pretty standard classic rock as far as it goes, solid album. Favourite song Water Song / Janie’s Got A Gun.
Liked it fine, but the rating is bumped up because the version linked to happened to be the extended edition. I liked the demos way way more than the actual versions, although that’s of course just my shitty music taste. If it was just those it could be a 5. Favourite song Bit Part.
I liked the music. Absolutely hated the constant screaming and clapping from the crowd. Concert noise is horrible. Would probably be four without it, I already knew and like a handful of the songs and probably would like the rest if only it was a studio or at least quieter version.
Pretty cool, haven’t listened to much stuff with this kind of loud instrumentation before. Reminded me a bit of David Bowie? Also for some reason never listened to the full song of Mr Blue Sky before this so, that was also cool.
Really cool, unique sounding album. Definitely has a weird energy but would be fun to listen to again someday. The songs are long and change a bit but I particularly liked Gloria and the first half of Land.
Knew I’d like this album just from the cover art. Good stuff, adjacent to what I normally listen to. The vocals are a touch whiny.
Favourite song Don’t.
Love me some Franz Ferdinand. Listened through this a couple times back in the day but only had one of the songs downloaded, got the whole thing now.
Not my thing but didn’t dislike it. Already knew Firestarter, also quite liked Narayan.
Downloaded. Felt like I was losing it through most of this album because I couldn’t tell if I recognised these songs or they just reminded me of something that I couldn’t put a finger on. Confirmed afterwards that I did most likely listen to it as a kid. Really really really liked it, probably largely down to actively listening to try and see what I recognised about it. Favourite song probably Supermassive Black Hole… or Soldier’s Poem … or Knights of Cydonia …..
Not a big fan of this kind of vocal style, but good lyrics go a very long way. Liked it a lot. The instrumentals are fine too. Favourite song maybe Quiet Man. Reminded me a lot of The Mountain Goats, wonder if it’s an influence
Liked it a lot, probably more so than other Neil Young music I’m already familiar with. Starting and ending with two versions of the same song is also pretty cool especially on a first listen. If both versions can count for one then favourite song My My Hey Hey.
Really wasn’t expecting to see a 2 year old album on this list so I wanted to give it a fair shot but…. Yeah I did not like this one. The actual sound isn’t bad at all but the lyrics/some of the interludes are just stupid.
When I first heard Tusk (the song) a few years ago I had to stop what I was doing and just listen. Perhaps unsurprisingly there was nothing else on the album even close to that, but I was still a little disappointed.
Ignoring my expectations though the album still qualifies for a 5 with the standards I’ve been using so far. Favourite song besides Tusk was That’s All For Everyone.
Solid album. Weirdly I quite liked the interlude bits with the teacher guy. Favourite song I Used to Love Him.
I’m normally really not a fan of music with no vocals/lyrics but this album grew on me as I listened to it. Reminded me a lot of the times I’d put the Minecraft soundtrack on when I really needed to focus on something. This album is more chill than focus, though.
Weird radical feminist lyrics aside, the sound was absolutely awesome. Made me think of a cross between Disintegration by The Cure and Florence and the Machine (I guess my music knowledge is still pretty shallow). So so cool. Shame about the lyrics, although at least they’re a little hard to make out at time. Favourite songs Rid of Me and Legs.
Weirdly quite similar to the last album generated (Rid of Me). Not quite as notably amazing sound but still great, and much more palatable lyrics. Favourite song Some Other Time, which I liked enough to download.
Longgg as hell but I liked it. Favourite songs Water and Behind Blue Eyes probably. Starting back after a year so ratings might be a bit iffy for a while. It would be easier to avoid falling off if I quit writing notes but rereading the old ones made me want to try.
Weird music weird lyrics. Not sure if I liked it or not but I do think it was fairly good. Favourite song Brother Sport maybe.
