1984 by Van Halen
Oct 16 2023

This album marked the beginning of high school for me. It was a time I was shifting from mainstream to alternative in musical taste. However, this album still evokes fond memories with several of the songs being iconic of the period for me.

Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Oct 17 2023

Listening to this has reinforced my neutrality towards Peter Gabriel. As in the 80s, I don't connect with the music or lyrics as I do with other artists. I don't dislike him, but I also don't particularly like him either.

Oct 18 2023

Outside of my comfort zone, but very enjoyable. I liked the diversity and musicality of the entire album, though I think I favored the first part over the second (though not by much).

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Oct 19 2023

This is the definition of 70s metal to me. Hard to believe that this was once considered the hardcore version of music.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Oct 20 2023

The sound seems to be representative of the period, though I had never heard of this band. I recognized Janice Joplin's voice and that is how I learned that she started as part of a band.

Imagine by John Lennon
Oct 23 2023

I went in knowing only the title song, but the entire album ended up being solid

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Oct 24 2023

I was never a big Beastie Boys fan back in the day, but I found this album to be surprisingly enjoyable. Perhaps I should have explored them more.

Cut by The Slits
Oct 25 2023

Solid early new wave/post-punk feel. Was not previously familiar with them, but I enjoyed the album.

Aja by Steely Dan
Oct 27 2023

Lots of familiar songs here. Enjoyed the ones I didn't know as well.

Oct 30 2023

Liked it. Clocks was already known, but the rest of the album seemed likable but not extraordinary

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Oct 31 2023

Not my favorite, but I did enjoy the diversity.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Nov 01 2023

An eclectic collection with a folksy vibe.

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Nov 03 2023

Eh...

Disraeli Gears by Cream

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Nov 07 2023

Fondly remembered from my teenage years!

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Nov 08 2023

Post punk in all its glory.

Sheet Music by 10cc
Nov 09 2023

I know some other 10cc songs, but none of these. They really didn't hook me in though.

Metallica by Metallica
Nov 10 2023

Iconic metal

The College Dropout by Kanye West

I liked this much more than I expected that I would

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Nov 15 2023

Not really my thing.

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Nov 16 2023

At first I thought this sounded like a spoof of a 60s band, then I read the Wikipedia article and found out it was!

In Utero by Nirvana
Nov 20 2023

Love the ones that went mainstream...

Odelay by Beck
Nov 21 2023

Pretty neutral towards him and my opinion remains unchanged

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Nov 22 2023

I can see how this influenced musicians that followed in the 60s

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Nov 23 2023

Surprised at the style diversity and how much I enjoyed this album

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Nov 24 2023

If you ask me to describe classic R&B, I would describe this album.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Nov 27 2023

It is Paul McCartney, what more is there to say!

Debut by Björk
Nov 28 2023

Own and love this album.

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Nov 30 2023

If you asked me to describe old-timey country music, I would describe this album

The songs I did not know were consistent with the style of the ones I did know.

Jan 10 2024

Go Girl Crazy by The Dictators
Jan 11 2024

I'm not sure how they avoided falling on my radar during my punk phase, but here we are.

More Specials by The Specials
Jan 12 2024

I was unaware that ska went back this far! Solid album.
