1001 Albums Summary

This album marked the beginning of high school for me. It was a time I was shifting from mainstream to alternative in musical taste. However, this album still evokes fond memories with several of the songs being iconic of the period for me.

Listening to this has reinforced my neutrality towards Peter Gabriel. As in the 80s, I don't connect with the music or lyrics as I do with other artists. I don't dislike him, but I also don't particularly like him either.

Outside of my comfort zone, but very enjoyable. I liked the diversity and musicality of the entire album, though I think I favored the first part over the second (though not by much).

This is the definition of 70s metal to me. Hard to believe that this was once considered the hardcore version of music.

The sound seems to be representative of the period, though I had never heard of this band. I recognized Janice Joplin's voice and that is how I learned that she started as part of a band.

I went in knowing only the title song, but the entire album ended up being solid

I was never a big Beastie Boys fan back in the day, but I found this album to be surprisingly enjoyable. Perhaps I should have explored them more.

Solid early new wave/post-punk feel. Was not previously familiar with them, but I enjoyed the album.
