not to my taste

I liked a horse with no name

Great album - the more upbeat songs "External Life" and "So Real" appealing more to my tastes. Great drummer interesting time signatures and great vocals. Goes without saying hallelujah is a masterpiece too. 4.5/5..

Kinda boring

0 appreciation for this, not sure how this was groundbreaking. Blissful ignorance.

I regretfully admit this isn't the worst album I've ever heard, it's quite a juxtaposition hearing some of the lyrics against the musical style.

Absolutely loved "You've got a friend", what a gem of a song, straight onto my favourites.

There are 2 ways I can look at this album - do I think musically it's a good album? absolutely. There's layers of complexity to both the songwriting and execution technically. Do I like it though? not really. Rating it based on how much I actually enjoy and appreciate these albums rather than how much I respect them musically.

"The Art of Peer Pressure" is the peak of this album for me, 5/5 for that song, phenomenal backing track and lyrics, just seemed to have a bit more heart than some of the other tracks. Overall a good album, 4/5. Also the bass on this one go boom boom boom. Appreciate that.

I would give this 5/5 just for "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and that's not even taking into account how massively influential "Run to the Hills" or "The Number of the Beast" is. Iconic album.

not bad!

The Christmas songs we know and errr....love? I guess? nothing special here no idea why it's on the list it's not like this particular production is amazing.

I really tried to think hard as to if it was just my nostalgia giving preference to 'The Passenger' but genuinely, the rest of the album is nowhere near as good. In isolation that song gets a strong 4.5/5 but the rest is average.

Dude gets kicks out of out shouting into the mic, but not even in an interesting way. Music for people who don't like music. I suspect there's a high degree of nostalgia with this one.

didn't appeal, really not my kinda thing.

a very interesting listen, didn't quite capture me enough to be a 5/5 but certainly a very solid album.

I get the importance of this album, sounds way ahead of its time but don't like it all that much! reminds of me of a band I used to like called Mihai Edrisch, who I like more :)

Music my dad used to listen to!

This is absolutely what I decided to do this 1001 albums list for, enjoyed every bit of this album and I've never heard anything quite like it.

Didn't really like it :)

As a piece of audio recording and studio engineering this is awesome - such a refreshing listen compared to 'modern' music where everything is normalised and compressed, this has loads of 'space' in the recording and dynamic range, however I found some of the content dragged and I don't really have the attention to listen to the lyrics and storyline.

"Back to Life" is a classic from my childhood, but this is very much a product of its time and most of the album has really aged. Musically fairly decent but not of huge interest.
