This was a great listen. I knew that I really like Talking Heads and David Byrne, but I hadn't explored deep into their catalog. I enjoyed every single song on this record.
Found a Job is a banger.
A lot of tracks came off as hokey to me. I don't think I like Elvis' vocal style. I definitely did some toe tapping in the car though. Money Honey was decent. Overall not terrible, but not something I would go back to.
Time after time is just an incredible song. I have a healthy respect for Cyndi Lauper. She wrote a lot of really great songs and show tunes. In some of the songs on this album, her voice is a bit annoying, but the songs for the most part are bangers. Way ahead of several of her contemporaries. Witness is a ska tune? I'll Kiss You was the only real stinker on the album, I think. I enjoyed, overall.
I am intimately familiar with this album. It spent many days spinning in the CD player of my car over the years. Good to hear it again. I really love Neil Young. This is one of the really good albums. Pocahontas, Welfare Mothers, Powderfinger, Sedan Delivery. Hey Hey, My My. The whole album kinda slaps. You can hear how the grunge bands of the early 90's found influence in this. That crunchy guitar. So good.
It's the blues! I'm of course familiar with The Black Keys. I like several of the songs on this album. There more recent stuff has kind of been experimental with going into different genres and sounds, but this record is a bit of a blues explosion. Definitely front loaded with bangers. The latter half of the record tails off. 15 tracks, an hour long....not recorded for vinyl was it?
I like this a lot. Of course I know Brown Eyed Girl (not on this record) and Moondance, which I didn't know was Van Morrison. I like the horns. I like the piano. I like the gospel, soul, R&B vibe. I just like it a lot. It's chill too. Will definitely explore his catalog deeper.
Love this album. It seems every song on this album is either a cultural touchstone or something I've never heard. What an album though. Seriously.
Too slow. Too boring. Too much noodling on an organ. Not a fan. A few decent songs. But overall a bit of a stinker imo.
I thought I liked this band. I was following them on Spotify. I did not enjoy this album. If I wanted pure dance, I would listen to Underworld, and if I wanted synthpop I would go with Passion Put, as both are better than this. Something about this just rubs me the wrong way, even though it's a genre and sound I would normally be into. Oh well.
A couple of good tracks on this one but overall not my style of music. A few tracks really drag and meander.
How can you be offended by ambient? Good background music. I folded laundry.
This was decent. I can see how this band was influencial for a lot of their predecessors. Industrial and electronic. Pretty neat.
Love this album. Love S&G in general. So many great songs on this album.
Of course familiar with Green River and Bad Moon Rising. Who doesn't like CCR? It's just fun. It is kinda repetitive, though. At least the songs are short. I enjoy it, but it's not something I ever seek out, really. Still, good stuff.
Oh I know I hate this. I don't need to listen to it.
Ugh. I liked this when I was a teenager but now I don't hit my wife and kids enough to enjoy this music. I also have too many teeth to be an ACDC fan.
This is a great rock album. Who would have figured that one of the most influential rock acts of all time would release a good debut album. I was of course familiar with The Who's hit singles, but this is a good album all the way through. I'm really glad I listened.
A lot of songs on here I know, because they're all covers. Still, she can really sing. It's enjoyable. Is blue eyed soul cultural appropriation? Should I feel bad for liking this?
Somehow this entire band passed me by? I had never heard any of this before. Sounds like Stone Roses to me, maybe a bit more noisy. It's not bad or anything, but it feels kinda beige to me. The sound comes out of the speakers and I have no emotional response.
An explosion of passion. This is a really fun album. In and out in 22 mins. Sounds good for a live album too. Enjoyable.
I've always been turned off of this bank because of the vocals. I like the music and other post-punk banks like The Cure. I even like some bands with vocals similar to this. Interzone reminds me of Gord Downie, for example, when he sings the counterpoints. This records is definitely hit and miss. Some tracks wash over me and I don't mind them, but then a funeral dirge hits and I'm like ugh, skip. Overall, I feel like I'm missing the point here or something. I don't think I like it all that much, and for some reason that makes me feel guilty.
I started out hating this but it grew on me over time, up to a point. A lot of it feels like disorganized cacophony. Some of the 'songs' that are decent go on for too long or degenerate into repetitive noise. Every song on the album is about 90 seconds too long. Indulgent, smell your own farts songwriting.
Nope. Not for me. Slow, boring, don't like her voice. Snooze fest.
This wasn't bad. I of course knew a few of the songs. Money for Nothing, classic. Overall the album was pretty good.
Not bad. Had never listened to this album all the way through. I enjoyed it for the most part.
This is a really good album. I knew Blister in the Sun, Kiss off, Add it Up. Why did I not listen to more of this album before now? I know Gone Daddy Gone from a remake that was on the Forza 2 soundtrack. It's burned into my brain. Such a distinctive tone provided by the rhythm section on this record. The upright bass and a very driving snare tone. Jangley, sometimes discordant guitar. Lots of angst and alienation and loneliness expressed in the lyrics. Just a good record all the way through.
This is a fun album. I like Iggy / The Stooges, up to a point. There are some really fun, vibrant tracks on this album, and there are some stinkers. I would argue that every song is about a minute too long for the punk aesthetic.
Fuck Christmas music with a cactus
I went through a Flaming Lips period in my 20's, so I am familiar with this album. It's good. I like it. It doesn't matter if it's soaring art piece with strings and layers, or if it's a more traditional arrangement, the drums are going to be good. They stand out on this album for sure.
Sounds like competent hip hop. I can't profess to be an expert. The accent throws me. Spittin' bars, but posh.
He is an icon for a reason.
Not for me, but not bad. Would be inoffensive in the background.
The songs that are good are really good. I like the energy.
I started off not liking this at all and then warmed to it slightly and then fell mostly off again. Dudes' monotone is annoying.
I listened to this album a lot as a teenager. My tastes have evolved a bit since then, but this still mostly holds up and is a good nostalgia trip.
Lots of hitting skip through this akbum
