Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.

I don't think I'm a big fan of older rap styles.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jan 07 2024

Forgettable songs and a singer with a grating voice. Bonus points for unconventional instruments in the genre. (sax, harmonica, trumpet etc.)

Odelay by Beck
Jan 08 2024

Not a pleasant listening experience. Songs sounded like they had a kernel of an idea that seemed to lose focus at points by throwing in strange tempo shifts or what sounded like just random noise (such as at the end of novacane). I will say that Ramshackle was a diamond in the rough at least.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jan 09 2024

Very expressive and smooth sounding guitar solos throughout the entire album. Sultans of Swing is a registered Hyper Banger

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Jan 10 2024

I'm not really a fan of live recorded albums. A few of the songs stood out enough for me to seek out the studio recordings of, but this album was a miss for me.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jan 11 2024

Very reminiscent of an old timey R&B/jazz club sound. Relaxing to listen to even though the lyrical content might suggest otherwise.

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Jan 14 2024

The vocal mixing was awful, but maybe that's a good thing because their voice or vocal effect used was awful too. There were a few good bass lines and drum beats, but everything around them was boring.

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Jan 15 2024

I'm not familiar with the nuances of the new tango genre, so I'm just giving surface level listening opinions. I liked the tempo changes from fast vibraphone to slow violin. Sounded nice.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Jan 16 2024

Idk. Maybe I needed to be high...

American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Jan 17 2024

Easy listening. Nothing exceptional.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Jan 18 2024

Nice blend of bite sized songs from a range of different genres. Bonus nostalgia points since my mother listened to these songs all throughout my childhood.

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Jan 19 2024

The acoustic instrumentation sounded good but the singing left something to be desired. Maybe folk is just not my jam.

Phrenology by The Roots
Jan 22 2024

Some nice beats. A little too experimental for my taste though.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Jan 23 2024

Gigagroover of an album. Great range of different rock and roll styles done well.

Punishing Kiss by Ute Lemper
Jan 24 2024

Sounded like a Broadway show. The lyrical content didn't do it for me, but The Divine Comedy as the backing band killed it. Made me wish there was an instrumental version of the album.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Jan 25 2024

Musically the album was fine but the singer could have done with some lessons.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Jan 27 2024

Easy listening. Nice mix of R&B and rock.

Orbital 2 by Orbital
Jan 28 2024

Atmospheric. Good for background noise while doing something else. Not something I would listen to on it's own though.

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jan 29 2024

Fame was good, but one song cannot redeem an entire album.

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Jan 30 2024

Not my preference but not bad enough to turn off. Some interesting beat patterns.

Feb 01 2024

Just sounded like a garage band noodling around for an hour jam session. Had some catchy bits, but way too long for what it was.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Feb 03 2024

I like the quartet style. Wish it was longer.

Dust by Screaming Trees
Feb 04 2024

Not my favorite. Album art is sick though.

The Bends by Radiohead
Feb 05 2024

Not bad but a little boring.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Feb 06 2024

Kinda sad. Nice acoustic play though.

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Feb 07 2024

Some nice drum and bass.

Paris 1919 by John Cale
Feb 08 2024

I really enjoy the sound of an orchestra mixed with rock. I'm sure that if I were more knowledgeable about history, the lyrics would have more meaning. Sounded good regardless.

Talking Timbuktu by Ali Farka Touré
Feb 09 2024

Fine to listen to in the background. Probably wouldn't listen again though.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Feb 10 2024

I still like the Jazzy/pop sound, but her cadence on a few songs put me off a little. Still some good ones though.

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Feb 11 2024

I don't think I'm a big fan of older rap styles.
