Bad Company
Bad CompanyQuintessential 70s! I always imagine the band in Almost Famous as a version of Bad Co. What happens when a bar band is really good!

Fantastic! So many memories of this being my first exposure to rap. My friend Sean dubbed Aerosmith’s Permanent Vacation and then this album on the other side. It’s tricky based on My Sharona is so good! Rap and Hip-Hop becomes much more complex, but this is the foundation. ****
Never listened to this before. Cool sound collages, reminded me of Chemical Brothers. Good music for background, much like when I listen to Explosions in the Sky. I like track 2, “Building Steam with a Grain…” and track 7, “Untitled.” **1/2
Seven Nation Army is such a great song and amazing kick off to this album. I love the amalgam of punk and roots/country influences. The middle of the album falls into the same sonic space, interrupted every once in a while by a quirky song that stands out. I’m still knocked out by the sudden British accent when Holly Golightly stops singing and starts talking on the last track. ***1/2
Not as enjoyable to me as DJ Shadow or the pop/dance fusion of the Per Shop Boys. “Da Funk” has a hint of where they will go with “Get Lucky.” **
Love this album. It’s worth it for “Son of a Preacher Man” alone, but so many other songs establish what we come to expect as the 70s sound. And it’s clearly the template for Amy Winehouse and even Adele.
***** Fantastic album! Absolutely a classic that everyone should know. It opens with R-E-S-P-E-C-T, but still has Do Right Woman and A Change is Gonna Come.
Heys’ favorite band. I prefer punk.
First heard The Undertones on Angela’s Punk music Grad class CDs. “Get Over You” made it on to the Punk 254 compilation I made. Good example of British/Irish punk that avoided the straight confrontation of the Sex Pistols and embraced some melody.
Yes! “Little Wing” under appreciated because ubiquitous! “Wait for Tomorrow” is one of my favorites and the two “castle” songs! Classic!
Nice example of late 60s sound — squarely between The Dead and Jefferson Starship. Wrote a song called “Omaha,” but not in this album.
Perfectly captures Cat Stevens style. “Wild World” is a classic. “Father and Son” is beautiful. For one of my birthdays Sam gave me the vinyl version of this album and the song always reminds me of him. ****

Manager of the Sex Pistols and the New York Dolls. Interesting, experimental soundscapes + world music. But, not really for listening.
Cool! “Clint Eastwood” is still a great song!
Delightful!
*** Not my favorite of their work. Prefer This is Happening and Sound of Silver!
Love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! I had never listened to this one before and it is really good. Similar to their newest album.
In Junior High I hated REM for the song “Stand.” I didn’t become a fan until Automatic for the People. I have come to appreciate “Orange Crush” and “World Leader Pretend” ***
❤️ Yes! Fantastic — the 2nd half is mostly acoustic and really shows just how good of a band they are. Gallows Pole, Tangerine, That’s the Way are three of my favorites!
Prefer the previous album.
Love this album! Was a fan of their first album, but this follow-up was a huge leap forward! Living in California we saw them at an outdoor arena in the middle of nowhere and they were so good! It’s their best album. *****
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! Devin will love this!🤣 Not my favorite Cure album, but definitely fits their goth template. Hanging Garden is the best song, One Hundred Years is a good opening track. ***
Before they got goofy this was a good punk album that filled in some of the gap left by Nirvana.
Love this album!
Not my thing, but good.
❤️❤️❤️ One of the greatest albums ever made!
Right up there with The River for me. It took me a long time to like Bruce, but this album is a great example of his songwriting. Racing in the Streets is one of my all-time favorites!
Love this album! Love this man!
So cool! There’s a lot of interesting ideas, but not their best work.
Some of the songs are great. The rest is just background.
Tusk!
Just amazing! Not overrated no matter how loud the hype and praise! “Move” is a great opener.
Under-appreciated Dylan classic “Idiot Wind.”
❤️ This is the album where U2 figured out how to be who they are! “40” is still a great closing song, perfect in concert too!
Maybe the best rock and roll album of all time! It’s the perfect mix of dynamics — perfection. The bonus track “Naked Eye” is fantastic.
Pretty cool!
I know its coolness vacillates but I love the song “Hotel California” and The Eagles Live is one of my favorite albums! Probably the reason why I stuck with Americana music and love harmonies.
Great pandemic album, but not as great as folklore!
Jim Morrison as the Blues Man he never got to be! Love this album! “WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)” underrated.
Devin and Angela will hate this! Too angsty. I like it, but have never gone all-in on the Whigs.
Love this album! Still one of my favorites!
This sounds like nothing else! This is the first band that led me into weirder choices!
