Couldn’t get into that at all. Not really my type of thing at the best of times but found it dull and turgid, may as well have been background music in a lift.

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
May 09 2024

Undoubtedly an all time classic but not one I love.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
May 10 2024

Classic album, Vienna and She’s always a woman are highlights.

Murmur by R.E.M.
May 13 2024
May 14 2024

I can appreciate what it is but just couldn’t get into it. It’s also over 2 hours long.

Pictures At An Exhibition by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
May 15 2024

Just didn’t get it. Saved a 1 star by the last song and how hilariously mental some of it was.

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
May 16 2024

Decent. Nothing to dislike about it but didn’t love it either.

Hejira by Joni Mitchell
May 17 2024

Not actually that bad. Wasn’t expecting anything and didn’t hate it.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
May 18 2024

Decent, nothing to dislike but not overly memorable.

Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 19 2024

Not my type of thing. Jangly and forgettable, was expecting more.

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
May 20 2024

Not for me. Not my type of thing as it is but found it not very memorable and a bit dull.

May 21 2024

Classic. Wouldn’t say it’s my type of thing but really enjoyed it. Amazing voice, catchy brilliant musicianship and some classic songs.

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
May 22 2024

Actually quite enjoyed it. A bit more up my street, catchy fast paced punk straying into hardcore every so often. Was tempted to give it 4 but in reality it doesn’t stack up to the other 4s I’ve given.

May 23 2024

Absolutely amazing. Not much to be said that hasn’t been already, stripped back, raw and emotional. Different in that’s it’s not an acoustic “best of” set, it’s littered with amazing covers, including a couple from lesser known bands such as Meat Puppets. Can almost feel the tense nervousness in Cobain to start with but is a flawless performance which almost feels like a signing off. Highlights are Pennyroyal Tea, Man Who Sold the World, All Apologies and Where Did You Sleep Last Night, really though, every song is amazing. 5/5.

Black Monk Time by The Monks
May 24 2024

Interesting, clear link between the 60s and punk, absolutely sounds like an early punk record. A bit mad at times but I could get on board with it. Interesting to see what feels like the start or punk.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
May 25 2024

Good solid indie album, probably usually only worth 3 but quite nostalgic.

Inspiration Information by Shuggie Otis
May 26 2024

Not for me. Some people will probably love it and find it ground breaking, I found it dull.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
May 27 2024

Quite nice, great voice and a couple of absolute gems.

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
May 28 2024

Not a bad indie album, quite aggressive, unique vocally but not overly memorable and struggle to get into it a bit

More Specials by The Specials
May 29 2024

Really good, experimental two tone. Sometimes catchy and fun music hides the bleak dark lyrics. I preferred side one, although enjoyable side two strays more towards the experimental lounge music side. Highlights are Man at C&A, Hey Little Rich Girl, Pearls Cafe, Sock it to Em J.B and International Jet Set

Dirt by Alice In Chains
May 30 2024

Brilliant. Dark and absolutely bleak album about depression and drug addiction. Lyrically can be absolutely soul crushing, Stayley’s voice is amazing throughout. Musically it’s heavy, grunge with big, sludgy, metal influenced rifts. The whole album is brilliant but highlights are probably Them Bones, Down In A Hole, Sickman, Dirt, Angry Chair and Would?

Thriller by Michael Jackson
May 31 2024

It’s not actually my type of thing but it’s undeniably packed back to back with massive songs, to the point that for most people it would be a best of album. Would give it 4.5 just because I wouldn’t personally put it on but I’ll be generous and go 5.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Jun 01 2024

Aggressive, fast paced thrash. But it’s more than that, mega complex musically with insane guitar work. Lyrically more challenging as well, covering environmental and political topics. Only slight gripe is it is quite long and maybe doesn’t have as many “massive” songs as some other Metallica albums of that era.

Queen II by Queen
Jun 02 2024

It’s definitely Queen but it’s different. Not an album I knew much about, it doesn’t have any of the “massive” Queen songs - a bit early. It’s a bit heavier and possibly a bit rougher but is undeniably Queen.

Jun 03 2024

Couldn’t get into that at all. Not really my type of thing at the best of times but found it dull and turgid, may as well have been background music in a lift.

Be by Common
Jun 04 2024

Not my thing but didn’t actually mind it. Catchy and smooth.

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Jun 05 2024

Surprisingly decent! Was going to go 4 but don’t think it can stand up to the other 4s I’ve given. Solid indie, some songs having a punky feel.

NEU! 75 by Neu!
Jun 07 2024

That’s 42 minutes I’m not getting back.

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jun 08 2024

Classic. Not my usual thing but really enjoyed it. Some absolute classics but it’s all good.

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
Jun 09 2024

Wouldn't usually be my type of thing but I really enjoyed it. Nice and relaxing then watergate blues appears and it’s just as relevant as ever.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Jun 10 2024

Not my type of thing at all but it was catchy and was a few songs I actually knew.

Tommy by The Who
Jun 11 2024

I wanted to love it but just didn’t. It wasn’t bad but it didn’t really standout to me. The drumming was brilliant, pinball wizard is good but I didn’t love the rest.

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Jun 12 2024

Shoegazy psychedelic indie pop. Not my usual thing but didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it either so middle of the road.

Arrival by ABBA
Jun 16 2024

Cheesy, silly but brilliant. So catchy, every song is a singalong and it’s fun. Plus it’s full of genuine classics. People will hate it but I don’t care, 4.5 but nostalgia takes it up to a 5.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Jul 04 2024

Simple, great voice and lyrically brilliant. Covers race, politics and relationships, much more than just fast car.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Jul 06 2024

Great voice but not overly my kind of thing.

Queens of the Stone Age by Queens Of The Stone Age
Jul 08 2024

Decent hard rock. A bit stoner rock for me but not bad. 3.5 is probably more realistic but I’ll be generous.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jul 09 2024

Old school jazz, just not my type of thing.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jul 11 2024

Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, probably won’t remember it. Also not a massive fan of Costello’s voice for some reason.

Melodrama by Lorde
Jul 12 2024

Not my type of thing but enjoyed it, catchy and a good voice.
