Revolver by Beatles
Jun 19 2024

I really enjoyed Revolver and while I don't believe it is the best album from The Beatles I do think its a great experience. My one gripe is that the second half didn't do as much for me as the first, but even so its still The Beatles so I can appreciate the songwriting and ideas on display. Overall a great album from a great band, but I don't think that's a surprise for anyone.

Public Image: First Issue by Public Image Ltd.
Jun 20 2024

I didn’t enjoy this album very much. A lot of the songs are 6 minutes plus and don’t do enough to warrant those lengths. I did enjoy Public Image and Lowlife mainly because they were 3 and half minute standard punk songs. Overall I’ve heard better punk and post punk albums and this has been the first time I’ve genuinely questioned “why is this album on the list?”

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jun 21 2024

I didn’t gel with this album. I found the vocal performance and playing to be good but the actual songs to be incredibly boring. If someone told me they liked this album I could understand but to me it was a snooze-fest.

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Jun 22 2024

They album on a whole was good. I enjoyed Live Forever, Supersonic, and Slide Away. The other songs on the album were ok, but overall a fun rock album.

Hotel California by Eagles
Jun 23 2024

I just don't think I'm a Eagles fan unfortunately. I like Hotel California alright and Life in the Fast Lane and New kid in Town were ok, but the rest of the album was comprised mainly of ballads that just didn't do it for me. I think as an album its not as an enjoyable of a listen as its lead song is. I did think the production was very good though.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jun 24 2024

I found this album to be a lot of fun. I think would check out more from this artist. However I don't think I'll return to this album by the nature of it being a live album, it was nice for one listen.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Jun 27 2024

Not my favorite Bowie album, but still an enjoyable listen.

American Idiot by Green Day
Jun 28 2024

I found this album to be underwhelming overall. I can understand why it resonates with people but for me this is nowhere near the masterpiece I’ve heard it is. I’ll start by saying I did enjoy a few songs off it, Holiday/Boulevard of broken dreams and Wake Me up When September Ends. While I didn’t enjoy American Idiot (the song) it was anthemic, I just personally felt it was annoying. Jesus of Suburbia is kind of goofy with how long it is but again I won’t deny it has hooks all over it. Unfortunately the album on a whole just dragged on for me, it’s just way too long with way too many songs that sound the same. Every once in a while they will use a motif but I found the story/concept not interesting enough to care when a musical idea was brought back. Idk it feels like more aesthetic than an enjoyable concept album. But hey maybe it’s just not for me, I still think it’s fair to call the album iconic because I know the impact it had but as a listening experience I have no want to every listen front to back again. Wake Me up When September Ends is in my opinion Green Day’s best song.

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Jul 19 2024

Love Ella Fitzgerald’s voice, and the music is good. It’s just hard to sit through this much music in one sitting. As an album experience it’s just too much, but I can imagine if listen to over the course of multiple sessions I would’ve enjoyed it more. However my rating is based on listening to the whole album in one day.
