The Slim Shady LP
EminemThis aged like milk.
This aged like milk.
Another I didn’t “need “ to hear.
An enjoyable listen start to finish. I didn’t listen to the 16 minute bonus track of the Ginger Baker/Tony Allen drum solo, seemed like a bit much. Maybe I’d enjoy it if I were high? Nope being high didn’t help with listening to the drum solo. That’s a big ask of someone to set aside 16 minutes for a drum solo. Yeah better off skipping, I still like the album and already gave it another listen. This is the type of album I was hoping to start out with. Artists I was familiar with but not familiar with the album. I know there will be some rough days ahead. #1
This aged like milk.
While my rating will show 5 stars. I’m rating it 4.99, I have to deduct something for that sax solo on Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt1. This the first time listening to this album in some time. An enjoyable listen.
A great band captured at their peak. I can do without super crunchy jam band half a day song antics.
I gave up listening to it after Disarm just like I did when I brought this back in 1993. The circle is complete.
Umm I guess this good?!? I don’t speak French so I don’t know what this guy is singing. I guess if French lounge music is your thing this album is for you. Correction I understood the word Amsterdam.
It’s an ok album. Easy to listen to, I wouldn’t classify this as a must hear. Thats Aja.
Oh boy, I have never heard of this album or the artist. Yeah not digging this.
I tried. Common People is catchy as hell. Check out William Shatner’s cover! From what I heard it sounds like they can’t decide on who to sound like. I was picking up Bowie and Roxy Music vibes from time to time.
Wow! I am surprised how much I really like album. Good stuff. The original of May You Never is way better than Clapton’s version. Ok I had to listen to it again. The first go I was doing yard work and completely focused on the lyrics and the nuances. Upon second listen WOW!!! I can’t give this album praise! Truly a case of me finding an artist when I’m ready for them.
Nope, I’d rather sit and listen to the Dirty Mac’s Whole Lotta Yoko on repeat for the half hour it takes to listen to this garbage. I nominate this album for the 1001 albums to avoid while you’re alive.
For me there’s too many skippable songs for me to give it 5 stars. Even with the stature of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Surprised and perplexed by the inclusion of this album. I always saw them as novelty one hit wonder band and even more shocking their most recent release was in 2023 (it’s 2025). I’ll give a fair chance, being that when it came out in 1996 I bought a copy. Beyond “Scooby Snacks” and “Fun Lovin’ Criminal” the album didn’t leave much of an impression on me. Yeah now I remember why I only listened to only two songs of this album when I owed it. It’s a not good album, let alone one anyone would need to listen to.
While Groove is in the Heart is an all time song for me. Definitely in my 1001 songs all time (if I actually had such a list). The rest of this album is pretty pedestrian.
It’s London Calling, volumes have already written about this masterpiece, that there’s nothing I can add.
Morrissey is just a whiny Michael Stipe.
Some decent staples of classic rock radio. Overall not anything to write home about.
Stones from Wish.
Wow, pleasantly surprised by this album! No skips, just some great music.
Another one I didn’t need to hear.
A Perfect Day indeed!
I always loved I Wrote a Song For Everyone. Good mix of hits and album tracks.
While I’m a fan of the Swedish Supergroup ABBA’s popular works, I’ve never listened to a whole album. Although my mom got this on 8 track for Christmas way back when, I don’t really remember listening to it. There’s a significant drop off in quality from the hits to the album tracks. Honestly it’s just filler dreck. Knowing Me, Knowing You is doing all the heavy lifting here. I tried Mom.
Another I didn’t “need “ to hear.
Pretty Frippin’ good!
I wouldn’t say Jack was breaking any new ground here but it’s enjoyable listen.
I was not expecting to love this!
This is certainly an odd one. I don’t think it’s as bad as it’s rating on here. More I listen the more I’m liking it. It’s the right amounts of catchy and strange.
I am a fan of Isaac Hayes, he was truly an amazing artist. Although I’m not a fan of his work with the Super Adventure Club. I feel that Black Moses should have been on this list included over this album. The Theme of Shaft is certainly an all time song, but fourteen more tracks of soundtrack music hardly make this a must listen.
While I didn’t skip any songs like I did with A Night at the Opera, a few weeks back. I liked to more than I thought I would. For me it’s missing the one ingredient that makes Queen, Queen; there’s no cheekiness (I hope am using that right, I am a dumb American). Gimme, Gimme Fried Chicken!!
Oh man, this will take me back to the Easter of ‘89 when my mom got me this tape and some baseball cards. Yeah, my mom was awesome! The only knock on this album is that their take on Memories Can’t Wait loses the haunting feel that the original Talking Heads version has.
To be honest I don’t need to listen to rate this a 5. But I will listen again and act like I haven’t heard it thousands of times. Of all the great covers R.E.M. has given us, Strange is by far the best. Yep still 5 stars after another listen. File under Fire.
This album is the definition of bland
Wow! I was not expecting this, I’ve never heard anything like this before! While it’s easy to shit on some albums on this list as ones you don’t need to hear (Especially since I had Hotel California yesterday). This is definitely one I’m happy I listened to.
I only thing I can say is either you dig or you don’t. I for one dig it!
Not good, not bad, and not a must hear.
