I really liked this. Especially the jazz and soul sounds. Her voice is great though it can be a little irritating at times when she's hitting the high notes. The sound and vibe of the songs change almost all the time, which keeps things interesting, but overall a very chill album to listen to. Fav tracks: Lonely Women, Emmie, and Stoned Soul Picnic. Least fav: Timer.
Re-listening to this album, I can tell it’s not a 5-star album, but I still love it. The opening of the album and follow-up of those songs is just simply amazing. Banger after banger. The other half of the album can’t keep up with that. It sounds kind of monotonous and there’s nothing particularly unique about it, but it’s just enjoyable to me anyway. I’ve listened to most of this songs live, and they are 100% better than they might sound on the record, specially All These Things I’ve Done. Anyway, I still love this album and I think it’s a GREAT debut album. It’s fun and vibey!
I can understand why this album is so important and recognized. It’s unique and very well executed. The composition is perfect, the overall theme is consistent, and the production is great. I respect it and I do think is a great album, it’s just not for me. I got bored after 6 songs. I wouldn’t revisit it. I think this is more of an album to analyze and listen to for educational purposes than to “feel like” listening, at least for me.
A very great record overall. It doesn’t have anything extraordinary about it, I just really enjoyed the vibe, very moody and sad record. I would definitely listen to this again. Loved Yorke’s emotional vocals and the guitars in this one. First full Radiohead album I listened to, so not sure if this would be my favorite or not.
I thought I wasn’t going to like this, I had never heard a full Metallica album before. I absolutely loved it. This is amazing. I can’t explain it, I just loved it. The opening track, Blackend, blew my mind. What a great way to start an album. 10/10.
Very pleasant album. So chill and vibey. I though by the opening chords that I wasn’t going to like it but I was wrong. I enjoyed and would play it again. The jazz component of this album was really interesting for me. Couldn’t connect to the lyrics at all, but the overall sound was really good. Solid record, just didn’t KILL me, but I would definitely play it again for the vibes.
I wasn’t connecting to it at all maybe until Dying came up, I liked that song. The first part has some of the most popular songs of the record, but I didn’t really enjoy it, it sounded very monotone for me, kind of boring. I liked a lot of the lyrics, but the melodies didn’t keep me interested. The second part of the record, I liked much better. It sounded more dyamic, with slower songs and all.
It’s not a bad record at all, but it didn’t exactly stand out to me. I don’t think I’d play it full again except for some songs like “Dying”, “Northern Star” or “Petals”
This is very hard to rate. I have an opinion but giving it a number just feels wrong, cause it’s pretty complex to analyze. Completely amazing concept record, listening to this again I can see the influence it still has in current hip-hop artists (let’s mention Doechii’s Denial is a River, for example). I just think the idea of this album is genius and it’s very, very well executed. Very unique and theatrical, it’s a perfect and horrifying movie, that you can clearly see in your head at all times. Eminem’s technical talent is undeniable. On the other hand, most of the lyrics feel dumb and for 15-year old boys (and offensive/mysoginistic, but it goes without saying). While I understand that this is supposed to be Slim Shady’s mind and perspective, which is twisted and perverted, I just think some things should stay in your head. Songs like Rock Bottom and If I Had touch deeper topics and struggles, and are my favorite songs on the record, they feel very timeless even today. So, to wrap up, even if controversial and awful at times, this is a pretty defining record in hip-hop history, and there’s no denying that. Giving it a rate just for my archive, but I don’t think a number can define this record.
It's ok. That's it. Wouldn't include this in albums I had to listen before I die tbh. Sounds nice but not something I would play again.
Fun record. It didn’t blew my mind. Really liked the jam vibe they had. Felt like listening to a band playing in a bar. Again, Fun!
Man, this was confusing. I probably enjoyed 35% on the record. But I GET IT. I get the concept, the idea, and why they chose this sound. Did I enjoy it? No. I'm not sure how to rate this one.
Meh. Not for me. I’m not really into this kind of “dance/electronic” sounds. There were some tracks I enjoyed like Amazon, Bingo. The whole record is very rich in sounds and different genre influences, which is pretty interesting. But overall, I wouldn’t play this again.
everythin i love about 80's synth pop. fun, vibey, atmospheric. loved it.
no queria que terminara. fabuloso.
Melancolico, envolvente, atmosferico. Excelente.
timeless. amazing.
Yeah, not for me. too long.
I liked it. Didn’t LOVE it. But it was nice to understand where all of those bands come from. I enjoyed it more that In Utero, for example. At times if felt like it was not 100% cohesive? Like totally different sounding songs like “We Will Fall”, which I really enjoyed by the way, but it’s just different from the rest of the album. Anyway, a good record, just not a 10/10.
Very cool album. My first time listening to Frank Zappa! I loved it.
Absolutely amazing. Soulful, touching, sexy. Everything.
not for me. at all.
BANGER
pretty. didn't engage me 100%, but it was a nice, soothing record.

I liked it! Not my favorite, but I still enjoyed it!!!
