I've seen this record in many greatest of all time lists... Why the hell?
A couple of very boring songs here and there, but overall a fantastic album
Not quite my style of melodies
Fantastic album
Musically speaking, of the original 9 songs, 5 are bangers. Lyrically, they're pretty bad.
A bit repetitive
I don't really know why, but I've never been able to get into Jack White's music. I can appreciate the talent, but I guess his music (solo or in the White Stripes) is not for me
I got White Blood Cells yesterday, so my review is the same: not a big fan of Jack White
The lyrics are incredible as always. But also as always, the music isn't for me...
Banger after banger. This is the ultimate album for the gym.
I understand their importance in music. But other than their most famous songs, the rest of their catalog has always been very repetitive to me
Two-word review: Fuck yeah!
I was always reluctant with Led Zeppelin. I was wrong
A Blackstar. A different man. Such a perfect goodbye.
Three amazing songs in the album. But the rest of it was mediocre to me, especially because there's something I just couldn't connect with: her voice
It's crazy how it still sounds futuristic after almost 50 years of its release. Loved it.
A visionary, one of the best producers ever, his pen fresh but already sharp. It's a shame what has happened with him in the last couple of years.
I remember listening to one of their songs on a videogame long time ago and thinking: what the hell is this? This sucks! Now, after I read about their story and importance in music history I listened to this album, which I can only believe it's their best because it is on this list, and thinking: what the hell is this? This sucks!
Amazing, perhaps even better than 2001
Two or three amazing songs. The rest is ok, just not for my regular taste.
Two great songs saved on my sixties playlist. This is not an album that I would come back to, but it was a great one time experience.
Rarely I expand my reviews outside of a couple of words of approval or dislike, but this one deserves its praise in a longer statement: This was a beautiful experience, I've never heard a song of hers other than "Nothing compares 2 U" and even when that song is a standout in the album, the rest is nothing but magical. I usually take an hour in my morning walk to experience the day's album and yesterday, by the time I got to "Three Babies" I was crying my eyes out as I was walking. And the beauty of it was that I didn't care for the people who watched me like that, that is the magic of this album for me: empathy. May she rests in peace, such a beautiful artist.
I heard the first song and I thought I couldn't possibly enjoy it, I was wrong. A couple of fillers but overall a great experience.
A few years ago, during another listening challenge for the greatest albums ever, I rated this record the lowest possible grade. It was also fun to feel myself edgy calling it "extremely overrated". But I was wrong and I admit it. 3 skips (including the intro) amongst a 16 songs tracklist is incredible, and I'm not completely sure about those skips...
When I was a teenager I listened to "Cult of Personality" and thought it was one of the most boring and overrated songs ever. And I lived with that prejudice for decades... I was so goddamn wrong. This is, so far, the best album I've heard during this challenge.
There's one thing always keeps me from becoming a super fan of The Offspring: Holland's voice Great music though
This challenge has made me reconsider some of the takes I made in my youth. Artists that I thought overrated have gradually become some of my favorites. First it was David Bowie, now it's Prince.
The Beatless? I'm kidding, they're awesome
This album works as a time capsule, filled with the most horrendous trends of the music from the 90's. I kept listening from start to finish because it was funny. Not fun, but funny, like LOL funny. I feel like something changed in me. it might have been my IQ.
7/10 I've read a lot of rankings placing Revolver as their best work. To me it is far from that. It's not a bad album but to me it feels like a mixture of their previous pop albums and their more experimental work yet to come. Also, 'Yellow Submarine' might be their worst song ever...
I've seen this record in many greatest of all time lists... Why the hell?
Those spice-less food memes sure are accurate. It is extremely unfair that other "Pop" artists and projects fall into the same category as her. And I'm not even talking about 70's pioneers or 80's kings or queens of the genre, but contemporary acts that get a minuscule percentage of the attention that she gets...
6/10 Even when her voice can get extremely annoying at times, it is a good pop record.
6/10 Quite generic but Robbie's voice is always great
Amazing, groundbreaking.
This year's 'Pink Elephant' was such a disappointment. But it's beautiful to know that this and 'The Suburbs' will always be there to wash away the bad taste.
His most "uplifting" when it comes to music. The lyrics remain undefeated. Such a master.
From the very start I knew this just wasn't for me.
Cons: they sound the same every album Pros: they sound the same every album
