Mothership Connection
Parliament9.75/10 - GOATed album, quite literally defined the pinnacle of funk & ahead of its time. The songwriting & musical ability of George Clinton & Bootsy Collins is fully on show

4/10 - What started out as an optimistic listen sadly turned into acceptance that this just isn't my album. Smile to me, feels like Brian Wilson unleashed, it displays not only his deep understanding of complex harmonies, but also his full creative extravagance. Unfortunately, I believe this extravagance is what tanked the album. Whilst I can see What Brian was trying to achieve, really, all he needed some creative direction, someone to say, 'Brian, this sounds like ass.' Potentially it needs multiple listens to fully grasp. RIP my guy.
8.5 /10 - A Classic & genre-defining album

6.5 /10 - whilst it was a well regarded album at the time, I feel that the Clash's debut album falls short of what the band are truly capable of. There are some well-written and catchy hooks. However, the entire album feels somewhat like a generic 70s punk album, and not reflective of the talent of Mick Jones
Whilst my initial impression is that this is a poorly mixed and badly written album, I think it's important to consider context. being a live album and done on a very low budget, the core sounds are quite innovative for the time, with an albeit bad delivery. I can imagine seeing this live was a really fun experience and in a way the bad mixing and impurities work to transport you further into the performance
9.5 / 10 - Despite being a diddler there is a reason he was the king of pop. This album is what a pop album should be, catchy, groovy and stays in your head. The mixing is incredible, as well as the instrumentation. Bad is everything that thriller (often touted as the best MJ album) was lacking. I personally don't think there will ever be a better pop album
4/10 - I can appreciate the gentle mellowness of this classic country album, however as someone who isn't the biggest country fan, I didn't particularly gel with it. I found the lyrics to have not much depth and the melodies were quite repeatable
9.25 / 10 - Incredibly well-written and produced album. Kendrick is undoubtedly an incredible lyricist, and his talent is on full show in GKMS. With great pacing and flow, this emotional album transports you on a journey through his adolescence, ending with the crescendo on Sing About Me. The themes can often be tricky topics to write about, especially in a reflective manner; however, as always, Kendrick delivers. Overall, one of the best rap albums ever produced and a well-deserved 5

8.5 / 10 - A collection of great songs from a legendary band. There's enough variation and good flow to keep you on your toes. Can't really fault it
6.5/ 10 Very nice blues album, some songs can be a tad bit formulaic but there are some innovative sounds on here that really capture you as the listener. Obviously, like a rolling stone being on this album does well to boost its numbers. A very pleasant listen
8.5/10 - Whilst Paul’s boutique is often touted as the greatest beastie boys album, Ill communication truly feels like it transcends genres. It feels like a natural follow on for the beastie boys, each track feels fresh and new, whilst still maintaining that signature beastie boys sound.
4.5 / 10. Not being the biggest fan of this genre I can’t say I found this album particularly note worthy. To me it felt like someone messing around on fruity loops for an hour and then split it up into separate tracks. Some catchy hooks and energetic beats but overall not my thing
6.5 / 10 - bit too edgy for my tastes, however, I can see how it is one of the most critically acclaimed albums of all time. There's something quite soothing about Ian Curtiss' vocals. I did find the tracks a bit hard to follow sometimes and the pacing can be somewhat jarring, but closer still presents some really interesting music and I very much appreictaed a lot of the lyrics
7/10 - Very nice listen, not too much to take away from it but that its a very nice album
8.75 / 10 - I think Physical Graffiti is the hidden gem of the Led Zeppelin discography. There is an incredible range of songs and each one hits different. I find a lot of them on this album are extremely transportational. Shout out to In the light & 10 Years gone for being S tier. (also rating 5 bc Csas hates Kashmir)
6.5/10 - Nice album that goes hard. It can feel generic at times but it had that signature slade sound to it
8/10 - Very nice album, I’m a huge fan of Jim Morrisons vocals, there’s a really nice collection of songs, however the flow of the album and themes it presents could be made more cohesive
6.5/10 - a surprisingly good listen. Not particularly my type of music and I have no desire to listen to more hot chip. But I found myself enjoying this album more than I expected
8/10- I’d never heard of Nock Drake before this album, I now very much know of Nick Drake. This album felt quite pioneering and perfected genre fusion before it was really a thing.
6/10 - can kinda be slept on a bit tbh. Doesn’t quite have the more high brow music that comes to dominate blurs later work
8/10 - Although Demon Days is objectively a better album, gorillaz debut feels like there’s more soul, more passion behind it. It’s quite a coincidence this album is after a blur album. It’s presents a bold new creative outlet from Damon, resulting in a great experimental album
8/10 - a great introduction to metal and a lineup of songs that are great in their own right. Incredible guitar playing, however lars is a poopy drummer, hence a 4*
4/10 - nothing really to write home about. A very forgettable and somewhat generic set of songs. However I do appreciate that they are played very well live
8/10 - some absolute bangers on here, lots of variation of pace too, just wish there could be a smoother flow
5/10 - “mum can we have Duran Duran” “No we have Duran Duran at home” Duran Duran at home:
6/10 - A nice background album and Sarah Vaughan has beautiful vocals. I just don’t think the mixing was done very well, even with leniency for a love album, the instrumentation often gets drowned out. The set list is somewhat generic too, bar the final song which was a fun twist
8.5/10 - this album is such a pleasant listening experience, rap combined with some funky beats can never go wrong. I love how one song seamlessly flows into another. Some of the lyrics can be a bit nonsensical but that is easily overlooked
9/10 - one of the all time greatest albums, war pigs is probably one of my favourite songs too. There’s a reason paranoid is such a pioneering album and it holds a real soft spot in my heart. Man I miss Stubbsy
7/10 - A classic Mod Rock album, not much more to be said. A very good all rounder, but I do prefer quadrophenia & Who’s Next
