London Calling
The Clash
A really wide variety of music genres mixed with punk attitude and aesthetics. Many catchy songs that avoid the cliches of the influences, so not being a pastiche and keeping it uniform. Some really interesting and unexpected turns on songs. Has to appreciate the adventurous spirit that this album was made with.
I haven't listened the album before from the beginning to the end, heard the title song of course and some other ones too. Despite the overall appreciation, I don't think I'm gonna get back to this album again. Not really my thing (as punk isn't in general) and I feel it to be overlength.

(What's The Story) Morning Glory
Oasis
As living my teenage years in the 90's, many of these songs were really everywhere and maybe because of that overfeed I got really bored of the hit singles. Listening now again after a few decades I must admit that many of the songs are really great. Nothing to get suprised about and Oasis isn't the most innovative band in the world, but they really can make great songs. Of course Wonderwall and other hit singles are great, but I have forgotten other songs such as Cast no shadows and She's electric which are great too. It might even be that some of these songs will go to some of my playlists.

What's Going On
Marvin Gaye
I listened this album quite heavily a few decades ago. The album has really original atmosphere and I really like how the songs are connected together. Vocals are really great and there are many interesting vocal arrangements. Lyrics paint a quite pessimistic view of where things were going in a turn of a decade (60's/70's). Regardless of that, the overall impression is still hopeful.

Stevie Wonder
Amazing musicianship and suberb vocal performances. Also quite marvellous that almost all instruments were played by Mr. Wonder. Still it might have been beneficial to have other musicians involved. Despite all the appreciation, in a personal level I don't feel strongly about the album and it doesn't reach even near to my top records list ("only" 3 star for me). But maybe someday this album will grow into me.

Rio
Duran Duran
Kind of difficult album for me because of the 80's production. It must have sounded fresh at the time but now the sound rather annoying. After few listens it kind of grew on me and I founded some parts that I really like, especially bass parts are great and some the vocal lines are interesting too. Still hard to understand why so many people like this album as much as they do.

The Predator
Ice Cube
Hopefully no one's gonna wet'me because of this review, but I hear this as kind of generic gansta rap. I haven't really listened hip hop music ever and this album didn't make me to want me to listen to it either. Many good samples from some 70's funk songs, but those were done by some other people and not by person whose name is written in the album cover. I would rather listen the samples without the rap in top of it. Not for me.

Selling England By The Pound
Genesis
Ambious, beautiful...and British. Compositions are amazing and I love the way some of the songs are in continuing movement in multiple directions. There isn't much rock moments but plenty of english folk songs and ever nursery rhymes inspired instead. All the players are really good and the album is full of exploration of differents sounds, especially in guitar department. Overall productions seems a little dated, but musically I don't find any weak moments in the album so definitely it is one the best prog albums ever made.

To Pimp A Butterfly
Kendrick Lamar
For me, as not a hip hop listener, it seems that Lamar is surrounded by all the possible toys and great jazz players, but not having much musical ideas. Great sounds on this album, though. I'm enjoying the horns and 70's vibe keyboards and synth basses, but unfortunately almost nothing interesting is played. Hard to comment on lyrical content in general, but I most certainly heard the n-word more than I needed. I think this album is good example of a tale Emperor's new clothes, which in this case are also non-existent.

Sincere
Mj Cole
So generic that it's hard to understand why it's chosen to be on this 1001 albums list. There's some good vocal performance, but songs are really average and everything is treated with middle-of-the-road production. There must be better albums to represent this music genre.

Real Life
Magazine
Never heard this band before, but I quite enjoyed listening this album. Songs are experimental and playful and I like the sinister undertow (both musically and lyrically) of the songs. With good vocals it could actually be really good, but with these vocals, not so much.

Calenture
The Triffids
Album which I don't seem to get my head around. There's many genres mixed and instrumentation and production seem to go all over the place. I wouldn't say that I especially like it, but somehow I want to listen to it more. It has hints that there's more to find if one scratches the surface a little bit more. Lyrics are at least interesting.

A Hard Day's Night
Beatles
Good songs with great vocals and amazing vocal harmonies. Especially Lennon's voice is really good. Songs have some interesting twists and turns. Unfortunately the songs have that bubble gum pop feel that I'm not too keen to and production isn't that great in today's standards (I'm sure it worked great in 60's radios). Also lyrics are somewhat generic pop lyrics. Better Beatles albums are still to come.

Let's Stay Together
Al Green
A-side has great soul songs, but by turning to B-side it gets more generic. The band is obviously full of professional studio players which is enjoyable to listen. Green is a great soul singer, but not one of my favourite ones. He knows all the singing tricks but could use them more conservatively. Lyrics are regular 'Babe, I love you' kind of stuff.

Music for the Masses
Depeche Mode
So many great songs in one album. Sounds and overall production is top notch. I really love the murky atmosphere of the songs, both musically and lyrically. Most of the songs are about human relationships, but with interesting twists. One of my favorite synthpop albums and definitely a 5 star album for me.

The ArchAndroid
Janelle MonĂ¡e
Ambious and skillfully executed and of course Monae is a really good singer. Still, I didn't feel connected to the music. Maybe the songs aren't good enough or maybe it's the overproduction that is killing the spirit of the performances. I really liked the orcestral pieces, though. I appreciate the talent, but I don't think that I'm going to listen to this album another time.

Brilliant Corners
Thelonious Monk
Monk really has his own style, it's like blues-jazz that's been played a bit sloppy or ever wrongly. Other players solo sections seem more traditional jazz. Unfortunately 50's recording equipment couldn't capture all the details and recording seems a bit harsh for me. It's good, but not my favorite jazz albums.

Rock 'N Soul
Solomon Burke
Amazing and diverse vocals, everything from silky smooth to rough rock vocals. Songs are good, but not expectionally good. Backing vocals and band are also really good. Really enjoyable listen, but maybe could have more varied song material, especially in the latter part of the record.

Home Is Where The Music Is
Hugh Masekela
Great playing from Mr. Masakela. Unfortunately, the compositions aren't that expectional. The album is too long and repetitive. Still I could see myself listen this album time to time, but nothing to be too excited about.
