Good ol' classic Willie Nelson. Easy listening, my kind of country. Listened while I made dinner. Good vibes. Nothing spectacular though, most songs sounds the same.
Perfect album(s) no notes. Fun, funky, groovy, badass. Beats for days.
Pretty good album, Kanye is so talented it's too bad he's insane now.
I like the spanish/mexican influence integrated into the album. Reminded me of the Breaking Bad intro. But also a cool mix of digital/electronic sounds. Fun, dynamic.
Enjoyed some of it, appreciated the jazz and grooviness, not my usual go-to, so its harder to have a stronger appreciation.
Decent album, funny song titles, just nothing really special about it.
I liked this album a lot, I listened to it multiple times, I will probably incorporate it into my playlists. She has a beautiful voice and I liked her concept and telling a story/giving her perspective on sexuality through the album. Reminded me of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Pretty much what I expected from Depeche Mode. Decent 80's alternative album but definitely nothing to write home about and in my opinion both the songs and the album itself are a little longer than they need to be. I didn't get through the whole album, I got to Pimpf and decided I'd had enough.
Didn't get to listen to it fully, but from the few songs I heard it was pretty chill, basic 90's alt. I would give it another go.
Pretty basic and what I'd expect from a random Verve album. The whole album sounded pretty much the same. Kinda meh
Some good hits, I didn't get to listen all the way through (idk when I'll have time for that, it seems longer than it needs to be), but it was nice.
Album started off super strong and was more fun than the past few I'd heard, so I was waiting for something more lively. Eddie Van Halen definitely has some talent and shreds. The back half of the album was a little forgettable, but I would definitely give it another run through, and I really like Jump, Panama, and Hot for Teacher.
I don't know what that was but I know I didn't really like it and I have no interest in listening to it again.
Love this album. I might be biased, but I think it's a perfect alternative album. It has multiple hits: Last Nite, Someday, Hard to Explain, and Soma, and the songs in between are great too. Well produces, great sound all around. Have listened many times before, and it made me want to get back into the Strokes.
Good album, a little annoying at times. I'm definitely biased toward liking Radiohead, but it's still not a 5.
Definitely has a sad/somber tone to it. Nothing stood out to me one way or the other. He doesn't have my favorite voice, but it's still decent.
Okay, so I bet this album is going to be one of those where people either get it and love it, or don't get it an absolutely hate it. I might already be biased because I like The Velvet Underground's other, more popular work, so it was easier to overlook what I would probably normally think of as annoying guitar noise, but I liked this album. It transported me to the late 60's. I thought to myself at one point "I bet this album slaps if you're on heroin" lol. It's weird, but in a raw, real way where I can tell they don't give a fuck what anyone thinks and are just getting lost in the sound.
Really liked this album. Just like with White Light/White Heat by Velvet Underground, I think Lou Reed is a very divisive artist. People either can't stand him or love him. I get it. I will say that sometimes it seems like he really doesn't care if he sings off key. But I love the artistry, and I feel like it comes through in his work. Plus this album has one of my favorite songs, Walk on the Wild Side. One of the things I appreciate most about this album which is what I look for and will rate an album higher for, is that the album is NOT one note. It has slower songs, and it has more up-beat songs, it has different types of songs, which keeps the album interesting. Love it. But still not a 5.
That was a country album alright. Good for background listening if that's the mood you're in. Nothing special though I suppose.
I was expecting to not enjoy this albm as much as I did. I used to listen to a LOT of CCR back in high school, but more recently stopped because I wasn't enjoying the sound of his voice anymore, it was a little too gritty and almost shrill. So I went into this not looking forward to having to listen to a whole album. Thankfully, I remembered why I used to love CCR so much! The production on this album is so well done, the instrumentals are great, and the songs that have longer instrumental riffs don't overdo it. Very balanced. Lookin out my Back Door, Heard it Through the Grapevine, Who'll Stop the Rain, and Long as I can See the Light are some of my favorites.
Honestly, I expected more from Echo and the Bunnymen because of how much I love The Killing Moon. It was still pretty good and enjoyable, very 80's alt. I would give it another listen for sure, hopefully I'll get more out of it the next time around.
Pretty good album. For some reason I wasn't expecting to like it this much actually, and it made me want to listen to more Neil Young. I feel like I've heard here and there that most people who are fans of CSN don't really like CSNY because they don't like Young. As far as I can tell, I really like his music. I would probably give it a 3.5 if we could do half-ratings, but since I was pleasantly surprised and it left me wanting more, I'll give it a 4.
This is... fine. I like The Band's popular songs... which actually might only be The Weight now that I double check. It's just a bit too honky tonk and twangy, for lack of better words. I honestly expected to like their album more. I was planning to give it a 3, but I didn't even really want to finish the last 3 songs, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. And for that reason, it's a 2.
Truly one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. The first time I heard it, I knew almost nothing about rap and basically never listened to it. I was pretty straight up a classic, indie, and alternative rock lover. A friend told me to choose an album to play in his car and I chose it due to the butterfly on the CD cover. The first song played and I knew I was in for something great. By the time the second track, For Free? finished I was already blown away and it was like nothing I'd ever heard before and just wanted more. Each track adds to the last, and each is so unique and artistic. It has a strong sense of perspective and a clear intention for every second. I can't overstate how perfect this album is.
