Leftism by Leftfield
Jul 10 2025

The album sounds like electronic music from an alternate future. I couldn't tell when one track ends and another begins. The drum and bass sessions remind me of Prodigy, Propeller Heads, and some of Daft Punk. It's music that you can put in a lounge, but also when you want to take a relaxing drive at night.

Live At Leeds by The Who
Jul 11 2025

Fun album. I enjoyed the guitars more than the singing. My favorite tracks were "I can't explain", "young man blues", and "summertime blues". I feel like this album is something that can be in a racing video-game. Glad to hear it for the first time.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Jul 14 2025

"Sure shot" and "Sabotage" are all time greats. I also liked the mellow beats from "Ricky's theme" and "transitions". However, the album as a whole is too experimental for me.

25 by Adele
Jul 15 2025

The album was good, but I did not resonate with it as much as "21". "Hello" was probably the most played song in 2015, and I liked "Water under the bridge" and "Love in the Dark". However, I don't find myself going back to this album much.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jul 16 2025

This is probably the oldest album I've ever listened to, and I had a good time. I liked "the Lip" and "Jump, Jive, and Wail". Makes me wonder how life was back in 50's. The parties must have been wonderful!

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Jul 17 2025

Yup, this one is good. These guys can move from guitar solos to duets, and then the full clash of rock and roll seemlessly. First time listening for me, and I'm now a fan (July of 2025).

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Jul 22 2025

Sarah Vaughan has a great voice, but the album is a bit too slow, and many of the songs have a similar pattern. Just didn't work for me this time.

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Jul 23 2025

Just couldn't get into this one. Feels like 3:00 o'clock on a Monday, and I just want to go home.

Arular by M.I.A.
Jul 25 2025

The lyrics seem more interesting than the music, but it didn't work out for me.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jul 28 2025

Songs for a summer road trip, I can see the appeal of these tunes from the 70's.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Jul 29 2025

Came in with no expectations, and couldn't find any tracks to latch onto.

Gold by Ryan Adams
Jul 30 2025

Cool album! I liked "Enemy Fire", "Touch, feel & lose", and "Tina Toldeo's Street Walkin' Blues".

Being There by Wilco
Jul 31 2025

Soft songs with short titles - but just not interesting to me.

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
Aug 01 2025

"Mr. Siegal" was fun, but the rest didn't resonate with me. I liked Tom in a lot of films though.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Aug 04 2025

A timeless album that feels new and nostalgic at the same time. Listening to this at different moods or under different sound systems makes me hear something new every time. My favorite tracks are "Don't know why", "come away with me", "shoot the moon", and "painter song". However, the whole album is enjoyable.

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Aug 05 2025

Cash's voice is definitely a force of nature. Much respect for him to do a concert in a prison. The "San Quentin" song was definitely something to hear. The cheers in the background felt intense.

Planet Rock: The Album by Afrika Bambaataa
Aug 06 2025

Awesome album! Break out the 808's, cardboards, and Adidas track pants and lets get dancing!

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Aug 07 2025

Good album. I liked "Sara", "Storms", and "Sisters of the Moon".

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Aug 08 2025

McQueen has a distinct sound and smooth vocals. I liked "Bonnie" and "Appetite". Will check out their other albums.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Aug 11 2025

It's hard to make sad songs catchy, but I can't help but hum to these classics. Great songs with great vocals, 5 stars for me.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Aug 12 2025

"Don't stop..." and "Rock with you" are classics, but there are better MJ songs on later albums.

2112 by Rush
Aug 15 2025

The wiki explanation for the "2112" title track is great! ""2112" tells a story set in the city of Megadon in the year 2112, after an intergalactic war in 2062 forces many of the planets to be ruled by the Solar Federation (symbolized by the Red Star on the cover artwork), where individualism and creativity are outlawed. The population is controlled by a cabal of priests living in the temples of Syrinx, who take orders from giant banks of computers that control all aspects of life ("The Temples of Syrinx"). An unnamed protagonist finds a guitar inside a cave and rediscovers the lost art of music ("Discovery"). Upon playing the guitar to the priests, they destroy it and declare music a waste of time and against the computers' plan ("Presentation"). In a dream, an oracle shows him a planet established simultaneously with the Solar Federation, where an elder race flourish in creativity and individuality ("Oracle: The Dream"). He awakens, depressed that music is part of such a society that he can never be part of and kills himself ("Soliloquy"). The song ends with an ambiguous spoken ending: "Attention all planets of the Solar Federation: We have assumed control" ("Grand Finale"). Peart clarified that after the protagonist took his own life, another planetary war begins and the elder race successfully take down the Solar Federation in an ending he described as a "double surprise ... a real Hitchcock killer".

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Aug 18 2025

Good album that just warms your soul. Great for a night at home when it's raining outside. My favorites were "Cry to me", "good bye baby", "you're good for me", and "beautiful brown eyes".

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Aug 19 2025

Not the last we'll hear of Radiohead. I liked "Body snatchers", "weird fishes", and "Jigsaw falling into place".

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Aug 20 2025

Really interesting album, and really "new" music for me. I liked "Savanne", "Soya", and "Soko Yhinka".

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Aug 21 2025

This gives me the vibes of the Propeller Heads and Daft Punk. I liked "My Mate Paul", "Rodney Yates", and "Don't just die yet". I could do without the audio clips though.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Aug 22 2025

Definitely a high-energy rock album. I liked "Gimme all your lovin", "sharp dressed man", and "Legs". I can see this as an inspiration to many rock bands after the them.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Aug 25 2025

Fun album. I liked "before you accuse me", "looking out my back door", and "Up around the bend". Heard a lot about this band, and finally spent some time listening to their album.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 26 2025

I liked "Breaking the girl" and "Under the Bridge", but most of the other songs didn't work for me.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Sep 01 2025

When this came out 20 years, I liked "Seven Nation Army" and "the Hardest Button to Button". Revisiting this again today, I have the same thoughts. Besides those tracks, the album is not for me.

Green by R.E.M.
Sep 02 2025

I could only get into a few of the popular songs, and the rest seem like initial ideas that will turn into something better.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Sep 12 2025

Cool album with a cohesive sound. I liked "You ain't the Problem", "Piano Joint", "Hard to say goodbye", and "Light".

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Sep 15 2025

Let's keep on choogling in 2025!
