Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Nov 10 2025

3 decent songs exactly evenly distributed across 9 tracks so you have to keep listening to the end if you want to hear that one song. the one etched in my brain because of a coke commercial from when i was kid. some sources say the song was even inspired by coca cola - beautiful symmetry. "Allegedly, the store didn’t have any Cherry Coke at the time, and Hutmaker, standing behind Jagger in the queue, said, “Well, you can’t always get what you want”." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB9o2X7Yjyk&t=20s https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/the-rolling-stones-you-cant-always-get-what-you-want-mean/ while looking that up, i also found a motorolla ad from 1998 and a levi's one from 1990. easy to imagine that the list goes on. hard to imagine that they didn't foresee these fat paychecks coming from that platitudinous chorus. a business more than a band. why we needed a bunch of white english boys making blues music i'll never know, and after 60 something years i think the answer is still we never did. highlights: monkey man ("I'm a cold Italian pizza I could use a lemon squeezer"), let it bleed ("Yeah, we all need someone we can cream on Yeah, and if you want to, well, you can cream on me"). i guess they were going to the beach that day.

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Nov 11 2025

very long songs but the drama level (usually) keeps it interesting "i'm just as sane as anyone" highlights: school dreamer hide in your shell if everyone was listening (clarinet bit)

Really enjoyed, what a lovely man. Great transitions between songs, seems like it was an excellent show. Started out so-so but then 'Cupid' is a huge banger, and I pretty much loved every song after that too. Def gonna be listening to some more Sam Cooke <3

Smile by Brian Wilson
May 01 2026

it's fun and weird but i don't think i really feel a spark... reviewing albums like answering the question 'do you want to see each other again?' on first dates.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jul 13 2026

maybe top 5 of all time
