Simmer slow burn soul. Can be gritty or soft. The songs evolve slowly with new horn or string parts that expand the mood. The songs are long but keep your interest, almost more than short songs do in a way
Artistic/original and commercially viable. Uses vocal samples almost as rhythmic drum beats. Some of the build ups not translate outside of the club and some beats have not aged well. Overall: great!
A logical mix of OG metal lyrical themes and aesthetic meeting the demand for slower groovier sounds like Def Leppard and AC/DC. The sound predicts how much of the 80s would go, with bands like Motley Crue and Poison continuing the sound forward. Some anthemic songs sound a little corny but the album stands the test of time.
Sinatra’s soaring smooth voice at its peak finding 1,000 ways to sing loves praises. Some of the best songs in his career are here, including “Under My Skin” and “You Make Me Feel So Young. The lyrics are clever and the accent horns are punchy. The only downside is there are no sad songs. To hear Sinatra sing about loss and loneliness completes the picture of what his voice can showcase
