I don’t feel like time has been kind to Hole. None the less this is a decent enough grunge album but I can’t help but feel that the songs lack melody and interest. I’ve picked this album up a few times in the past and this is probably the last time I listen to it all the way through.
More grunge! Another half decent rock band with a few too many cliches from the genre. Not a favourite but not terrible by any means.
Haven’t listened to this album in a while. This was the last through and through great Stripes album and it’s a real banger. A bit of a departure towards a bigger sound whilst staying true to their roots, something which their later albums didn’t achieve quite so well.
Bit of a surprise this one. Never listened to the full album before and all I can say is I understand the hype and the love for this band. But it’s not really cuppa tea but good for party music.
First time listening to this particular album. Samba De Uma was the standout. The rest a little too smooth and sweet for my tastes. Obviously ridiculous musicianship
One of the most overrated bands of all time. Can’t help but feel that the only reason they’re so celebrated is due to Morrison’s death.
A bit of an old childhood favourite this one. I remember thinking how different it felt when it came out, especially compared to their previous output. In hindsight, there’s a fair bit of filler in between the good tracks but this still holds fairly well
I mean, don’t get me wrong it’s pretty nice instrumental hip hop mainly. But top 1001 albums? Nah. Gimme some Apollo Brown if you wanna go down that road.
Pretty good but no classic.
The 80s wasn’t kind to guitar music
Bloody good noise rock with some absolute belters!
Another album I haven’t listened to for 20 odd years. Pretty nice but a bit uneventful. I did save Lost Cause and Paper Tiger to my playlists.
A brilliant and very unique record full of great songs and sounds. Nice to be reminded of this classic!
Despite all that’s happened with Ryan since this is still an undeniably amazing album. I would put this in my own top 50 easily. Beautiful songs, arrangements, playing and all with a natural and rootsy production. A true modern classic.
Top tier funk. Essential!
Not frightful but too over produced for my tastes.
Back when easy to listen to country pop was actually good.
Kind of a fun listen but can’t help feel the production is too much.
Another essential funk classic
Enjoyable but not revisitable for me
I’ve tried many times but I just can’t get into Elton John. Sorry.
Totally essential. Like nothing else, you disappear when you listen to this record
Not terrible but not my bag.
I don’t hate this but I don’t love it. Kinda feel like I respect the music more than I enjoy it, so a difficult one for me to sit through. I think it’s mainly her vocal I don’t get on with, a bit too theatrical
One of those classic albums I listened to when younger but grew tired of in my 20s. Good of course but it’s not one I ever put on any more.
An all time great hip hop record
Nah bruv, too wet behind the ears for me
Never actually listened to this before despite loving a couple of his other records. Sounds like a grower so I’ll say this is 4 stars for now…
Great record but not as good as The Stooges records
Kinda liked half of this album when it came out. I can still admit there’s a couple of good songs on it but it’s too polished and shallow production-wise for my tastes.
