Thriller by Michael Jackson
Oct 31 2025
Sister by Sonic Youth
Nov 28 2025

I knew some Sonic Youth albums before, but actually never listened through this one. If you take your time and pay close attention you will discover one of the greatest alternative-/underground-rock-albums of the 1980s…at least in my modest opinion. Especially love the opener and the duet singing between the somehow average college boy Thurston Moore and femme fatale Kim Gordon (who sometimes reminds me of Nico…without the German accent of course). Great album!

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Dec 01 2025

Defnitely on of the best new discoveries on this list for me. It whet my appetite for more 1980s-HipHop.

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Dec 02 2025

Not my favourite album by The Smiths, but still breathtaking music. The weakest part is the title track.

Rattus Norvegicus by The Stranglers
Dec 04 2025

Heard it twice, but still can‘t really make sense of this. Reminds me of The Fall, The Doors and The New York Dolls (and others), but doesn‘t really fit together. Some interesting ideas, but by far not enough for a 50-minutes album.

The Modern Dance by Pere Ubu
Dec 10 2025

Haven‘t heard this for probably ten years… and actually saw them live even longer ago. So I totally forgot how great this record is. A blueprint for all the great Post-Punk albums to come.

Destroyer by KISS
Dec 17 2025

Sounds to me like the prototype of all the uninspiring, long-hair, wannabe-rockstars records of the 1980s

Harvest by Neil Young
Dec 23 2025
Kala by M.I.A.
Dec 24 2025
Next by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Dec 25 2025

Nice easy listening 70s record…but to me not more than that. Sound reminds me of The Who, early Bowie and The Rocky Horror Picture Show…

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jan 20 2026

Still can't really see through this. Beautiful melodies and pop songs mixed up with strange parts and ideas that feel they don't go anywhere…

Dare! by The Human League
Jan 26 2026

I prefer the older, less commercial stuff by The Human League. Some nice tracks but in total a bit disappointing tbh

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Jan 27 2026

Reminds me of albums like "All Things Must Pass" or "Sadinista". Many ideas, some great tracks, but in total too overambitious…

Jan 28 2026

This Album definitely contains some bangers. And "Righ Here, Right Now" is probably one of the best openers on this list. But, man, listening through this all the way from the first to the last track is really challenging. To me this sounds more like a greatest hits compilation than an actual Album.

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Jan 29 2026

I understand that some might like sheer raw power and tightness of the sound. But repetitive lyrics about death, disease, necrophilia, mass murder etc. … puh. Especially turning the Holocaust into a B-horror movie and Mengele into a mystified personification of evil makes this almost unlistenable to me.

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Jan 30 2026

I can see the appeal of this and actually had fun with some of the songs, especially when the sound becomes more groovy. But in total this is too much of a Rock’n’Roll-cliche for me (starting with the album Cover).

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Feb 02 2026

Siting in a nice shady bar having a few beers I probably would have a nice evening with those guys… sitting on my couch completely sober this really becomes boring very fastly…
