1001 Albums Summary

I've heard of this band but never got around to listening to them, glad I finally did. They're like a more country Bowie, and remind Willow of "high winds and the smell of fish". I can see them playing this in a clapboard house on the east coast. "Nightswimming" was teetering towards "Dear Evan Hansen" at first, but grew on me. Would get high and just exist to this album. 7.5/10

Didn’t like this as much as some of the other Chilli Peppers songs I’ve heard, but it began to pick up further in.

This is not the crab rave I remembered. Weird, but grew on me.

Ohh ok now I have context for ABBA The sisters have an amazing vocal harmony together, and the songs are all super catchy. The recording isn't the greatest (though that's probably due to the time period), and some of the songs could benefit from a radio edit.

I was vibing a bit a first and then I wasn't. The whole thing is weird, but not a weird that I particularly enjoy.

"This ain't my dad, this is a cell phone." I really enjoyed the dynamics of each song here, even with the old recording technology they still felt lively and crisp.

A bit to country for my taste, but I can appreciate the artistry and guitar work.

Very vibe, reminded me of Will's music taste. 10/10 would study to again.

Nice, but not very memorable. Not my favourite of the soul album's I've listened to so far.

I think Mom liked this more than me but I guess her enthusiasm was contagious. Don’t judge an album by its cover, I guess.

Cool sound, awesome vocals. I love the sound of old live recordings.

Misfits of they were not very good. Some songs grew on me, but not soon enough. Liked the album enough, but probably won't revisit it.

I actually really liked this one! Songs are long as hell but the overall sound is great. Very space-age 80s-esque.

Too Southern for me. Didn't mind the composition, but wouldn't hurt if they sped up the tempo.

Finally some good fu king music. I can see why the popular songs off this album are the well-known ones, but the others are still worthwhile. Great sound, great energy, iconic performances.

I feel like Moe would make us listen to this album. This seems like a rock classic, I'm surprised I haven't heard it before.

Depressed Bon Jovi? Actually really good, love the sound and the moving tempo.

This album sounds like a lost childhood and broken promises. painfully beautiful, I regret seeing this band as shallow before.

Wait this is way better than expected. This guy can stay in Spencer's. "Personal Jesus" cover is great, if I had known Rick Ruben had worked on this I probably would've listened to it sooner. Time to put my cowboy hat back on.

I'd get high to this album, but I'm not sure I could listen to the whole thing again without some sort of substance.

Love the grungy rock feel, great sound. Some songs were a bit whiny for me, but otherwise good.

Heard of the Cure, expected them to be heavier but this was nice. Very relaxing music without it being boring.

A fresh take on some classic metal. I love the energy they bring to this recording, and how it’s brighter than the original songs. Their songwriting is insane, but I didn’t listen to them that much due to the sub-par recording quality—their live performance is the second chance I needed.

Do ya like jazz? Yk what I actually really vibed with this, I feel like a lot of jazz albums are too drawn out but this one was really well composed.

Feels like I've heard her name hundreds of times before, but never heard her songs. Good lyricism and political commentary, but not really my style.

Yoo wait I remember this from "American Pie". Some good songwriting, but the instrumentation (or lack thereof) gets grating after a while. Put the harmonic down, white boy.

Gonna give it a good rating for that title alone. Feels nostalgic, like it lives in the radio of a shitty car from the late 90's.

Never listened to Ice Cube, actually pretty good. Got a bit repetitive after a while though.

This was freaky and groovy and all around a good time. Storybook section felt a bit out of place though.

Beautifully iconic, as per usual with Bowie. Glad to have listen to something of his that was less mainstream.

Pretty sure this is the first non-English album of the challenge. Didn't;t know what to expect, but it was very cool and well-produced.

This was actually a banger. Yet another artist I've needed to listen to. Even though the album was long, I didn't really mind the extra versions of songs since they kept things fresh.

Listened to the single version of this because I genuinely cannot take 1.5 hours of this. It's basic and grating and I did not enjoy it.

The cat left when I started this, but I liked it. Never realised this was the "End of the World" album, but it made it that much more iconic. Cat ended up coming back.

Cool, but nothing special. The songs were good, but nothing really stood out to me. Big fan of the way it was mixed though.

The "El Paso" song was catchy, but the rest all sounded very similar. I love the vocal tone though.

Vocals were not really my thing but overall pretty cool sound.

If I wanted to hear an hour of uninterrupted piano I'd just sit in my brother's living room.

"Superstition" was definitely the catchiest song on this album, but the rest were good too. For how much hype this guy has I was expecting to be blown away, but it's still a solid record.
