Kid A by Radiohead
Jan 02 2026

Not my favourite Radiohead album. Interested to see which other RH albums made the list. It’s coherently its own thing, which I respect. Listened on my phone speaker - perhaps unfair. Given that I’m not expecting any of these albums to be objectively terrible, I’m going to use a pretty harsh rating system. This gets a 2 - I wouldn’t mind if I don’t hear it again!

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jan 05 2026

Through the first 4 overplayed tracks I thought this album was for the bin, but the rest of it surprised me

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Jan 06 2026

5* straight out the gate, I thought. But wth is that Frank Lloyd Wright track 😆

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Jan 08 2026

In love. Can’t believe it’s new to me. Will listen to this many times.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Jan 09 2026

3* = I value this and would like to hear some tracks again

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Jan 12 2026

Insufferable, apart from Layla. If I’m going to listen to blues, I’d prefer the original stuff! Some other people’s reviews amused me: “Uninspired trash over basic blues backing. If I wanted to listen to this, I can go to a local dive bar on a Tuesday evening show with a bunch of aging rockers who believe in conservative fiscal policy.” Also: “ If you want something that goes on for ages and then you hear Layla, watch Goodfellas.”

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jan 13 2026

Finding it a bit stark how many 60s 70s British bands were thieving music from black America. Again, a lot sounds pastiche / inauthentic. But it’s not all bad

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jan 16 2026

If I could tune out the lyrics it would get a 5, but I can’t so it’s a 1.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jan 19 2026

The simplicity of some tracks makes them sound like a high school band, but the distinctive sound makes me happy in itself. “A Forest” is such a fun track.

Jan 20 2026

The pace is well-described as ‘torpid’. Some of the vocals grate with effort in a way I don’t like. Enjoyed instrumental tracks more. After listening to it three times (only six tracks!) by the evening I rather liked it.

B-52's by The B-52's
Jan 22 2026

Unlistenable. Curious how it made the list. Was it groundbreaking at the time?!

Jan 23 2026

This guy’s not doing so well with the ladies. Not totally sure I listened to the right version of the album? A crooner. Archetypal, but, for me, meh

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jan 26 2026

Sweet, amusing, relaxing, fun, musically interesting. Listened multiple times.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Jan 27 2026

17-yr-old Amber was blown away by this album and 40-yr-old Amber asserts confidently that it is one of humanity’s greatest artistic achievements. If you disagree, you should listen to it five more times.

One World by John Martyn
Jan 28 2026

Not did-not-listen, but could-not-listen. I don’t want to be rude but I didn’t like it.

The Bends by Radiohead
Jan 29 2026

So beloved to me, and only gets better. I need a sixth star. I want to see them live - missed a 2025 tour!

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jan 30 2026

Meh. Kept skipping tracks. One or two nice melodies, but most tracks sound like white noise.

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Feb 05 2026

Not yet managed to listen to all three hours, but I appreciated the concept and enjoyed listening

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Feb 09 2026

Undeniably good, but sort of faded into the background. I’m learning I prefer music with a little drama. Also I’d love to hear an album by a woman any time soon - not Muddy’s fault, but this list is warped.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 16 2026

Imagine having the confidence to have this voice and actually become a singer, and succeed.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Feb 17 2026

31 days in and still no album by a woman, I present: Dreamland by Black Box. Enjoy!

LP1 by FKA twigs
Feb 20 2026

I am disappointed that our forest album by a woman in nearly two months of listening to the list is such a male gaze choice. Who wrote this book?!

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Feb 24 2026

Completely unmoved and took no pleasure in this

Moon Safari by Air
Mar 02 2026

Quite like this ambient mood

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Mar 09 2026

I made it thought two and a half of the albums before reaching saturation. That’s a good review.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Mar 16 2026

I’m learning that hoarse, grating vocals are not my fave (Springsteen, James brown, Janis…) but expressiveness makes up for it in this case

Kala by M.I.A.
Mar 18 2026
Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow
Mar 20 2026

Leaving Las Vegas was painful to listen to… and not a good way. I’ve always thought I disliked Sheryl Crow and now can confirm it through direct experience.
