White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Jan 07 2026

Solid album - I like how raw around the edges it sounds. Has one of my favorite songs ever on it. Decent little :45 second mini songs that sounded country in there. Still feels a bit “juvenile” at times.

Moon Safari by Air
Jan 08 2026

First song reminds me of a late 90’s average spy/heist movie montage where they’re setting up some trap or something. The last third of the album sort of morphs into Daft Punk. Solid album but not sure how much I dig ambient techno sort of stuff.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Jan 09 2026

Kendrick sample first track (“i”) woah! Maybe painfully obvious to others but love when I get to spot samples in the wild. Banger of an album. Very listenable in one sitting for me because each song is different enough but the same threads go thru. Covers are good. Groovy

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Jan 10 2026

Pretty solid. I like her voice. Decent combo of soulful and also “smoky” if that makes sense. I remember What’s Love Got to do with It being a much more upbeat song, felt slower when I’m actually listening to it. We thoroughly establish what a Private Dancer is in this album! Some good songs but overall not for me.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Jan 12 2026

Beatles are my favorite band of all time, but you can sort of hear how this early album is very cookie cutter and presented as what was then considered like - new wave pop. Some absolute bangers on there though. Reminds me of childhood.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jan 13 2026

Insane album to listen to on a Monday morning. First two tracks (esp second) had my ears bleeding. Was good to get exposure to non-Rock Band Nirvana. Kurt Cobain has more range than I realized, but the direction that range extends into is not for me. (I.e. screaming stuff). Forgot what a studio version of All Apologies sounded like - so used to the MTV Live version. So good & haunting.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Jan 14 2026

I was a much bigger fan of this album than I thought I would be. There's a song on here for everybody - moody, serious, dancing, of course the banger that is "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." Loved the sax throughout the album. Some songs felt a little too long for me - 41 mins for an 8 track album is a bit much. Big fan though.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Jan 16 2026

Such a unique voice. Very listenable album. It all flows together pretty well. Learning that I really like these shorter albums (<35min). Capping it with a GOAT shout in American Girl is awesome. Couple songs almost felt jammy. If I could give half stars it’d be 4.5 but alas, it’s not a 5 for me, so 4 it is.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Jan 17 2026

Before this project, this album was a 5/5 for me. Gonna be a good Friday! Trying to figure out for myself why it’s a 5. Nostalgia plays a big part obviously. But the actual music is fantastic! If this was a first listen, I’d focus on the range of songs, how dynamic the album is as a whole, and the variety of sections. It’s a rock album that’s also a folk album, a pop album that has fantastic deep cuts, and firmly plants an identity in the ground that you can see and engage with. Also the album art is awesome - possibly favorite cover OAT.
