Very enjoyable. Cheerful and relaxing. Standout tracks - And it Stoned Me, Come Running, Everyone. Alongside Moondance and Crazy Love, which I was previously familiar with as Michael Buble covers. Interested to hear more Van Morrisson.
Enjoyed this, lots of feel-good tracks. Standouts were Lost in Music, We are Family and He's the Greatest Dancer. Some dull and forgettable tracks, however.
I'm just not a Dylan fan, sorry. The vocals just grate me, and I sigh every time he whips out the harmonica. That said, I did enjoy Tangled up in Blue and Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. This is fine, but I don't see myself listening again.
Great! I was originally a bit intimidated by a Prog album, but this was fun and I will definitely explore some more of this band. I listened to most of this album twice and got a lot more out of the second listen.
My first album from the 50s. Very much in two halves. Let the Good Times Roll is a fun big band track the first in the livelier first half, with others a bit more forgettable. I found the second half quite dull and plodding, although I appreciate how influential this artist is. I hadn't previously realised Ray Charles was blind! He also fathered 12 children with 9 different women. Yikes. 2.5
Not sure about this. I liked a lot of the music, instrumentalism, riffs etc, but I'm really not keen on Jack White's vocal style and some of the lyrics are... hmm. I'm glad I listened, but I don't think I'll find myself reaching for this much. I liked Blunderbuss, I'm Shakin' and Trash Tongue Talker the most.
Fine, easy listening. Shining Star and Yearnin' Learnin' were my favourites. This is my 5th 70s albums of the 7 I've generated, and I think I need a change!
I really didn't enjoy this to be honest, apart from Song 2 and Beetlebum which I already knew. Essex dogs was quite atmospheric but I wouldn't listen again. Just a lot of tuneless noise that sounds like a boring version of Oasis - sorry!
This was fine. I can tell this artist is talented but I found it all a bit forgettable. It sounded a bit like the Blur album I just listened to...
More boring Bob Dylan. Possibly even more boring than BOTT. Dull tuneless music interdispered with blaring harmonica. Why does anyone enjoy this?
My first time listening to Cat Stevens - I'd not realised this artist is a man! This was pleasant listening, and fairly varied, but it didn't quite do it for me. I think this album might improve on a re-listen.
I liked this a lot. Interesting mix of different styles. I'm not sure how I've managed to never hear any Pixies albums before!
2.5 If you like late 90s dance music then you'll probably like this. Some of the tracks were fun to listen to, but at nearly an hour this album is way too long. Not really my thing but I didn't hate it.
Er, what was that?! Far too long, with little to enjoy other than some great basslines. Dull, indulgent space rock. An extra star has been added for the spoken word sections, unintentionally hilarious.
My second Pixies album and it was fine. This should be something I'd like a lot, but it just fell a bit flat, although I could appreciate it.
Dull, dull, dull, but listenable. I liked the space-y noises and musicality, but none of the songs were distinguishable from one another.
Rap-jazz fusion! Interesting, but all the songs blended into one another. I can see why this made the list, though.
Never heard anything like this before, alternative R&B apparently. Some of it was great, especially the drums etc but some of it was truly awful!
First album I just could not listen to... I managed 10 mins. I'm sure there is a lot of talent here somewhere, but this is just unlistenable.
What standouts is the great production on this album. A lot of the songs blended together but I really liked the sound and general vibe. Will need a re-listen.
Punky glammy rock and roll... or something like that. I heard snippets of this album a few years ago, but never in full. Very good listen!
Um, not really my thing but thankfully this was only about 15 mins long! Forgettable, punk but listenable. 2.5
This is fine, but just doesn't do much for me. I know there's plenty of Neil Young albums on this list....something to endure, I suppose.
I really like The Police. The familiar singles on this album are by far the strongest songs, with the rest being a bit filler. Bring on the Night was new to me, great song. Had to rate 4 due to Message in a Bottle and Walking on the Moon being such classics.
This is the oldest album on this list, and it hasn't aged well. 16 dull indistinguishable tune-less songs about Frank's girl leaving him with piercing strings in the background. This would be a 1 if it wasn't for Sinatra's lovely voice.
Classic! What a brilliant sound, and so evocative of the time. Rock and Roll Star is a ballsy start to a debut and so many of the other tracks are classics. Only criticism is that some of the songs should have had a minute or so cut in my opinion (Slide Away). Still a 5, though.
Didn't like this at all. Weird and a bit creepy but not in a good way. I knew Novocaine for the Soul already. The spoken bits were cringe and weird.
Funky, so funky! Danced around to this while sorting my laundry. A little repetitive in places.
Great! I've listened to some Rush before but never a full album. 2112 is a memorable prog epic, and I also really liked Twilight Zone.
I was excited to listen to this, as I enjoy world music, but this was just relentless bongo-ing without purpose, at least to me. Boring and annoying with the occasional danceable bit, sorry!
Hmm. I'd assumed 10cc were a classic rock band, but this was a lot weirder than I expected. I really liked The Wall Street Shuffle but the rest of the album didn't do much for me.
This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and completely stays as such on a re-listen! This is a wonderful piece of music to listen to in full. I enjoyed Welcome to the Machine particularly on this play through - so atmospheric.
Pleasant surprise! I knew the singles, but this is a really beautiful album with such a melancholy feel. I haven't enjoyed Coldplay's recent output very much, but this is a modern classic.
My first metal album, and what a classic! I was quite familiar with many of the songs on this album before today's listen. This is a great album, perfect length and enough variety to keep it interesting. Invaders, The Prisoner, and Children of the Damned are just as good as the more well known tracks.
This would be a '2' if it not for the title track, which is a 5. This really is just good 'hold' music and I'm not sure why it's on this list...
Wonderful album! I first came across Pearl Jam as a teen, playing Even Flow in Guitar Hero III. This album remains so evocative of that time in my life, but unlike other teenage favourites, it speaks to me as much now as it did then. Jeremy and Alive will always be two of my favourite songs.
Strange album! Some of these tracks were 5 star, some were certainly 1 or 2 stars. This generally sounded like a poor Beatles imitation, but a few tracks will be going on 'the playlist'
Some smooth tunes, but a little repetitive and just a tad too sexy for me haha
I'm quite familiar with Back in Black, but not with Frank, Amy Winehouse's debut. This is a fun, easy listen with some great tracks.
Really interesting and impressive listen. Would be a 5 if it wasn't for the strange grunting bits in part 2 and all the instruments being announced in part 1. Why?!
I'd always heard that Iron Maidens earlier albums are a bit weak but I thought this was great! Well, except for "Charlotte the Harlot...."
Well, this certainly rocks. Definitely a banger of an album, punchy, catchy and full of energy and unapologetically unsophisticated.
Great! Varied and upbeat album, lots of memorable songs.
