slacker rock my ass, these guys were doing anything BUT slacking (literally who gets up and decides "yeah im gonna make the indie band version of This Is Spinal Tap")
she gets it
Even though I think Led Zeppelin is a band of shameless plagiarists, I can't deny that their music bangs.
Somehow this album has grown off of me since I've listened to it, and honestly, I'm not sure why I was so generous with it in the first place. I distinctly remember hating the fact that there was a reprise for a song that had just played. I remember how much of a slog it was to listen to this whole thing. I remember thinking about how every song was more boring and uninspired than the last. I guess the title track was just that good š
I canāt believe Iāve never heard of these guys before šÆ
fye
maybe Iām biased because I lowk hate this guy though
This would be a 5/10 if I could make it that way, I'm just very iffy about Rod Stewart.

When I started listening to this album, I pictured this band as a group of Appalachian rednecks, some guys from the mountains who were insane enough to make a two-hour-long ordeal of bluegrass covers from all over the region. Imagine my surprise when I found out they're a bunch of Long Beach hippies riding on the backs of established Appalachian musicians! Nonetheless, I can tell these songs come from a place of admiration, and they put a great deal of effort into capturing the authentic sound of the mountains, even if this kind of music isn't really my style. I see why it's so well regarded, but I just can't see myself cranking bluegrass tunes on a regular basis.
Pretty chill album, I really dig her vocals, though in all honesty I'd rather be listening to Back to Black š„

My first album by The Cure during this run! Iāve never listened to this album in full despite listening to them religiously, but Iām really glad I did. I see it as more of a 7/10, but Iād also rather die than give it 3 stars, soooā¦
Would be a 7/10 if I could rate it that way. As much as I adore some of the songs on this album, it can get a bit samey at times, and thereās two songs on here that I just donāt really like.
I canāt really discern how I feel about this album. In one hand I feel like sheās a very talented vocalist, but on the other hand I felt like I was getting sick of her vocal style by the time I got to side B of the album. On one hand I feel like sheās doing too much with her exaggerated show tune style of music, but on the other hand I feel like sheās not doing enough, and thereās no real memorable songs on this album. This album is really just the middle of the road for me. 5/10.
Not much to say. I much prefer 1989-1994 Tom Petty.
This really is Fleetwood Macās White Albumā¦.

Im sorry but im not spending an hour and nineteen minutes listening to Anthony Child Molester Kiedis moan in my fucking ear over subpar instrumentals. Iād actually rather die.
Thereās something about the production of this album that irks me, and Iām not sure if I can articulate what it is. Maybe itās jarring to hear Smiths-style songs in such a clean, polished format? Itās a lot less ājanglyā than Iād like. I also hate how self-important many of these songs feel, and though Iāve come to expect that from Morrissey, I think itās a little more egregious on this particular album. First of the Gang to Die still bangs though, and so does I Have Forgiven Jesus, despite how repulsively egocentric it is.
This was my first time ever sitting down and listening to a full Bob Dylan album! (This is a 9/10 for me btw)
My mom's a pretty big fan of CCR. She's been trying to convince me to hear her out on the Fogerty brothers for years. I still think she's crazy.
I still don't understand why Homework was chosen for the list over Discovery. Not that I'm a Homework hater or anything, but I feel like it would've been the obvious choice. I do feel like this album can be a tad repetitive and it's a little longer than it needs to be, but I still love a lot of songs on this thing.
I feel like the Rolling Stones have always had a knack for making singles that completely blow the rest of their respective albums out of the water. This is actually not true on Beggars Banquet, as itās non-single opening track triumphs over everything that succeeds it on the tracklist. Iām still surprised they never decided to make it a single, considering its enduring popularity. I enjoy some tunes on this album nonetheless, especially Street Fighting Man and Stray Cat Blues.
Uncontroversial opinion, but I donāt like nazis. I think the vitriol Kanye has spread, the awful merch campaigns heās led, along with the way he views women is disgusting. However, part of me still doesnāt know how to feel about him. I donāt think bipolar, or most any mental disorder for that matter, can always be used as an excuse for oneās misdeeds, but it can always be a reason. Iāve witnessed a bipolar friend of mine completely destroy themselves, sabotage all their relationships until they had nothing left. They treated everyone they know like shit, they spewed racist jokes and try to gaslight people into believing itās not a big deal, they deceived people into thinking they had potentially fatal conditions in order to garner sympathy, and at the end of it all they still seemed to believe they were my innocent victim when I tried to call them out on their bullshit. Thereās nothing that can make them disbelieve their feelings of persecution. Thereās nothing that can sway them from their delusions of grandeur. Since then Iāve wondered, at what point does the damage someoneās caused as a result of their condition become unforgivable? At what point does someone no longer deserve your sympathy? Should I forgive someone for their awful behavior just because they have no way of controlling it?
I think everyone is capable of wanting to improve themselves, of seeing the damage theyāve done and wanting to rectify it. Anyone can see the depth of the hole theyāve dug for themselves, but some people would rather rot at the bottom and wallow in perceived helplessness than crawl their way out of it. I can tell that Kanye has been trying to improve himself as of late, but whether or not he feels remorseful is something I can really only speculate, and I donāt think all heās done deserves to be buried and forgotten. The only thing I know for certain is that his actions do not erase the talent evident in his work, and that frustrates me to no end. I do really love this album, I have fond memories of listening to it blasting from my brotherās room next door, and I think its production and lyricism are unmatched. (Maybe not including that whole bit about choking a South Park writer with a fish stick.) I just wish this album was made by literally anyone else.

To whoever compares Janis Joplinās voice to a dying dog or criticizes her for not being conventionally attractive enough for their taste, youāre on my shitlist.
Sometimes when the top keyword on an album is āboringā, I just know itās gonna be good.
Iāve never really understood people who say this is the Smithsā weakest album by far, especially when it has Headmaster Ritual and Barbarism Begins at Home. Iām not a massive Meat is Murder apologist or anything like that, but I just think Strangeways is objectively worse. Maybe they just canāt stand the irritating activism the title track forces on you, and to be honest, I wouldnāt disagree with that sentiment.
Iāve always loved a majority of the songs on this album, but again, Iāve never sat down and formally listened to it. Candy Says in particular has always meant a lot to me, not just because I adore Candy Darling and the actress she couldāve been, but because I relate to it myself. I love the earnest and innocent feelings of After Hours, and the way this album transforms such seemingly simple lyrics into something far more moving than it would suggest. I also found the weird double vocal track experimentation on The Murder Mystery to be pretty interesting and unsettling, even if it wasnāt executed in its intended fashion.
i mean itās aight
i mean it's aight part 2 (i liked this more than the last one though)
My guilty pleasure album for sure. As cringeworthy as the lyrics on Brown Sugar are, itās unfortunately a banger song. Almost every song on here bangs, Iām absolutely in love with the jam session on Canāt you Hear me Knocking, and overall I think this is their most consistent album in terms of quality. However, You Gotta Move pushed me to the edge. I wanted to put my head in my hands and cry when I heard Mick Jagger sing this in that accent. That song doesnāt feel right coming out of his mouth, not after he subjected me to Brown Sugar four songs ago. Iām leaving this at a 4 for now, maybe Iāll change my mind later.
