Popular Reviews

Definitely Maybe by Oasis

Whinging Brit Pop, devoid of originality. It’s a wonderwall they made it famous.

Kid A by Radiohead
Mar 30 2026

Experimental, avant garde album. Not my favorite, can’t think of a situation where I would want to listen to it.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Apr 01 2026

Good album. A mix of upbeat songs with ballads. Basic song construction throughout the album.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Apr 02 2026

Quintessential 80’s college radio album. I had always heard of the album but only knew Radio Free Europe from it. Whole album was a great listen. You can see why they were the fore front of Alternative Rock.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Apr 03 2026

British indie hip hop, interesting fusion and good music by the Blur front man. Not a woo hoo album, but some solid songs.

Metallica by Metallica
Apr 06 2026

Absolutely love this album! Great songs from start to finish. Game changing album for Metallica, they redefined heavy metal with this album.

Electric Prunes by The Electric Prunes
Apr 08 2026

A chaotic mix of all genres from the 1960’s. The first few tracks were cool, psychedelic rock. The other tracks were odd ball mix of ballads and folky songs.

Nowhere by Ride
Apr 09 2026

I like Ride. My mate Russdog in Texas burned me a CD years ago. That was Going Blank Again, which is a great album. Nowhere is Ride with far less polish, raw emo-shoe gaze. Not nearly as strong as their follow up.

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Apr 10 2026

Started off strong as hell with classic punk tracks. Maps is a great tune. The end of album slowed right on down, winding to indie rock. Good songs all throughout but as an album, it seems to lose its way.

The White Album by Beatles
Apr 13 2026

I have never been a big fan of the Beatles, being more inclined to heavy metal and punk rock. However, the White album has a lot of very good tunes. I could do without the Bungalow Bill song though. Overall, I can see why this album is considered one of the greatest.

Van Halen by Van Halen
Apr 14 2026

Classic rock, Eddie’s guitar wizardry is phenomenal. Not sure what the deal was Ice Cream Man, but great tunes up and down this album.

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Apr 15 2026

Good album, consistent sound and good energy. Always heard of the band but never listened to them. Enjoyable and when the album finished, shuffled on to Fugazi. Nice!

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Apr 16 2026

Disappointing album, not at all what Deep Purple we’re about. Lacked groove.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Apr 17 2026

Classic blues rock. Some great hits on this album.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Apr 20 2026

Absolute masterpiece!! Funky, punky, rocking and grooving. Great music up and down the album.

Boston by Boston
Apr 21 2026

Classic album, cover to cover. My older brothers has this on 8 track tape. Lots of good memories listening to it.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Apr 22 2026

Yawn. A few ok tracks, but overall this is a snooze fest for me. Sappy lyrics, basic music, good harmonies if that’s your thing. Not mine.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Apr 23 2026

I’m not a huge fan of rap, particularly gangsta rap. I found some cool vibes on this album but it was hard to look past the misogyny and shameless self promotion.

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Apr 24 2026

Good album. Raw, garage style indie rock. Not surprisingly, I learned that one of the members plays with Dinosaur Jr. I liked the innovative sound and energy of this album.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Apr 27 2026

One of the best albums from these metal giants. Solid tracks from start to finish. It was One that turned me on to Metallica. The song just shreads.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Apr 28 2026

Good jazz, I wouldn’t say smooth. Seemed unpolished, in a sense. Still, a good album.

Dear Science by TV On The Radio
Apr 29 2026

A little rap, a little indie, a Little Rock but not enough of any of that. Started strong, ended weak.

Copper Blue by Sugar
Apr 30 2026

How have I not heard of Sugar before? This album is alt rock gold standard stuff. I will be listening to more from Sugar.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
May 04 2026

Early indie, very raw and unproduced. A Forest is a stand out on this album. Much of the other songs have similar format, moody guitar and lyrics with simple drumming. Good listen nonetheless.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
May 05 2026

Starts good and funky, ends rather flat. Other than a few good tracks, I found this album boring.

Future Days by Can
May 06 2026

Experimental rock with groove, four tracks, 40 minutes, epic!!

Imagine by John Lennon
May 07 2026

Alright album, sounds like the White album but

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
May 12 2026

Great salsa album, very well performed.

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jun 12 2026

Fantastic album! I reckon it is Radiohead's best album.

Parklife by Blur
Jun 15 2026

Standard Brit Pop album, not bad. Deep undertones of Beatles influence.

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Jun 16 2026

Whinging Brit Pop, devoid of originality. It’s a wonderwall they made it famous.

Sincere by Mj Cole
Jun 18 2026

Why is an album of cafe dance mix tape on a list of 1001 albums you must listen to before you die? 🙄

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jun 22 2026

Great mix of blues rock. Jack White has the X factor.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jun 23 2026

Great mix of blues rock with African vocals. Really enjoyed this album.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jun 24 2026

Another indie rock album. It was alright, not sure if it needed to be in the top 1001 albums though.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jul 07 2026
Jul 09 2026

If it wasn’t for Tainted Love, this album would be a 1. Feels like a high school musical written and produced by a Sophomore who’s ideas outweigh their talent.

Public Image: First Issue by Public Image Ltd.
Jul 16 2026

You can hear that transition from punk to new wave happening here. More artistic than the pistols. Not as good as Second issue.
