1001 Albums Summary

Started really strong and catchy and ended with softer songs, still caught my ear throughout.

Was great to hear the classics in a live setting. I rated this a four at first, having the perspective of what was to come brings this up to a five easily. There's a reason it's one of the classics.

A fun album with pop punk inspiration that mellows out towards the end. Maybe feels a little incohesive, but many catchy singles!

I can respect that they're some of the pioneers of punk, but holy crap 80% of this album is hot garbage. Songs that sound like a copy of the first one- not to mention the creepy one. Definitely a product of it's time. Still, we wouldn't be where we are without them so I can give it some credit for that.

I thought What I'm Feelin (Good) was sampling a ringtone before I realized this was from before ringtones sounded like this. A true pioneer, 9/10.

It feels like the wrote a hit and just had to fill an album to meet the label's requirements. It's about what I expect from Paul. I'd listen to it but it's a little lifeless.

Started out okay, liked the experimental parts. How many remixes do you need? Just make a decision.

Some good stuff, the originals of most were better.

Great album, I am glad I revisited this as I didn't realize just how based Bowie was the first time. Edit: Bowie, I keep finding myself coming back to this. You were such a beautiful person. Weeks later I still find myself having these songs pop in my head.

Holy crap I didn't realize you could make an album sound like it was happening in the background while simultaneously playing directly in your ear. Songs were good though. Just listen to the MTV live.

Honestly better than I thought after all the memes but still really odd and just a rip of black culture.

Definitely not going for catchy on every song but there's lots of emotions pointed in the right direction.

I understand the appeal, it definitely inspires emotion. One can take this genre and improvise in a million different ways, but it still sounds intentional. They did it very well.

Yeah, it was an interesting listen. I probably won't listen to it again. I was a little disappointed by the I Was A Teenage Werewolf False Start song. Am I supposed to be impressed by the band member being a total fucking asshole? Loss of a star.

Catchy songs that seemed to have gained popularity from the shock factor and the crude humor of the time. He points out society being hypocritical but still uses backhanded arguments. Dr. Dre definitely captured a sound that embodied him and it was well done, but I'm glad Eminem has matured from this, not saying his music has gotten better, but we should all move on.

It scratched some kind of itch. Definitely musically talented.
