1001 Albums Summary

It has been an interesting experience with a lot of great songs, but admittedly the main problem is that this seems to be a random jump from genre to genre It is between 3 and 4 for me

Hard Rock is one of my least favorite genres, usually I just can’t stand it. This I also did not love but need to admit that this catched me somehow mid album and I did really like night prowler

Felt like the 2 hour soundtrack of „O brother where art thou“

I promised to myself I’ll listen to anything to the end. I just can’t … pure horror

Good moments, but let me bored out. Had not listen to Paul Weller before, won’t do it again

Never listened to a solo Paul McCartney album, what a mistake. This is hit after hit after hit, perfect vocals, incredible band. 9/10

Weirdest album about a strange sex drug, aged rhyme patterns. This 90s rap a few years before this genre exploded and transformed into something new did not age well. I still had fun with the Album, especially the beats and production is a bit ahead on some tracks. 5/10

This is a masterpiece

Surfer Rosa is the first Pixies album and it is a weird one. At its heights it is a clear 5, but there is something about a lot of those songs that sound unready and as they still discover their style. Then there is „Bone Machine“, „Where is my mind“, „gigantic“ .. which belong to the best of their catalogue. Doolittle is and stays the better / best pixies, but I enjoyed this a lot

I had no clue what Os Mutantes is and I had quite a ride in weird psychedelic Brazilian music, that not just copied the British and US development at that time but added their own flavor. Really good 8.5/10

Did not expect to enjoy this that much

What an album, pretty impressed by The Band that I never listened to before and might have heard only The Weight before. Impressive usage of the organ, Dylan lyrics paired with some nonesense lyrics. A lot of reflection about being found guilty without being guilty. Highlight was the intimate Lonesome Suzie

Mr Blue Sky, Steppin’ Out and a few others are highlights. The problem is the length of the album. Songs that work okay on their own as filler, but at this length they destroy the album experience. The last few songs are the weakest A lot of nice early opera rock, and influences from Pink Floyd and the Beach Boys still make this a unique, special mix.

Really enjoyed it, beats and instrumentals are outstanding! The genre mix with Funk & Jazz samples and raw punk attitude is the thing that makes the Beastie Boys unique is. Did not expect that Beastie Boys would work so well on full album length, but there is no song that is not exciting

Not aged well! Beats are outstanding, the whole west coast sound up till today would not been possible without this record. Skits are weak, lyrics are neither cover topics as NWA did nor have interesting rhyme structure. Dre is not a good rapper, Snoop peaked later (and never as top tier) So what is the right rating here? Historically you could argue for a 5, based on my taste it is only a 3 and I have no real reason to get back to this on full album length
