Low by David Bowie

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac

The best way to describe this album is as a pastiche. It leaves no cohesive impression, offering just a few decent pop songs instead. The DIY approach feels completely unjustified. Buckingham and co. are practically screaming: 'To be like punks, I'll record myself banging on boxes and cans.' The result? You still can't hear anything clearly. The sound is muffled in some places and brighter in others; the rhythm shifts from crooked to steady without any clear purpose.

“I started to cry, which started the whole world laughing” The album is bland and boring. I can't believe anyone would ever want to listen to music after this experience. When it comes to concept and structure, just making a track long doesn't mean you've created Tommy. Recording a song with an orchestra doesn't mean you've made Sgt. Pepper. Picking a fight with your bandmates while recording your "masterpiece" doesn't mean you've just made Pet Sounds. I'd rather listen to a fork scraping a plate for an hour than suffer through this dull, overhyped pop record.

Disraeli Gears by Cream

This is a magnificent album, and one of those records that truly shaped me both as a musician and a listener. I love every single track, both on its own and as part of the whole experience. I'm certain that if someone wiped out all the music on Earth, left me with only Disraeli Gears, and forced me to listen to it every single day for the rest of my life—well, it would suck, but I’d still be vibing and discovering something new in this record. 1,000 out of five stars. And of course, a huge shoutout to Ginger Baker—what a talent!

I love this album so much. I’ve listened to it so many times, and yesterday I replayed it over and over… about seven times. It just takes me to the river. 1000/5

Tommy by The Who

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys

I understand the album's importance and influence, but The Beach Boys have never been my cup of tea. My main problems with album are their repetitive vocal arrangements and lyrical themes. While I find the music okay overall, those monotonous descending intervals always follow the same rigid rhythm—mostly in half or quarter notes. These descending melodic phrases end up sounding repetitive and formulaic. All the lyrics (which, by the way, Brian Wilson co-wrote with Tony Asher) revolve around the simplest, most egocentric premises: "I'm sad, nobody understands me" ("You Still Believe in Me"), "What will we do when we grow up?" ("Wouldn't It Be Nice"), and "I'm not made for these times" ("I Just Wasn't Made for These Times"). This is pure emotional masturbation, with no allusions and no metaphors. The protagonist doesn't reflect on the way the world works; he only obsessively dwells on his immediate fears of losing his comfort zone or breaking up with his girlfriend. To be honest, I used to enjoy listening to this album much more in the past, but over the years it has lost me as a listener. Now, only the awareness of its historical significance remains.
