Nearly all of the big Primus hits on this one, and a great run-through of what to expect from Les Claypool and his delightfully weird band. Does run a bit long for the melodic content (or lack thereof) it has to share, but the off-the-walls orchestration in the bass contains enough novelty horsepower to make this a fun listen regardless.

This is not a good album. It was short. The album name was humorous. It started off alright then it progressively got worse. So many of these user chosen albums have just been straight trash.

Not a fan. 2 stars.

Early Primus is a good bit of fun, in small doses. 4/5.

I like Primus, but something about the production is a little dated and Muddy for me, so having to be honest here a bit.

Primus has that awesome Bass-Sound. I didn't know any of the songs on this album, but it was a good one

Primus - You either love it or loathe it. I definitely love these weirdos!. They can rock, are very skilled and creative musicians, and have the ability to be clever and funny without becoming cheesy. One could challenge my sense of humor, but I'll take Primus over any of those pretentious poser-bands out there (you know who you are, you damn posing tweekers!).

4/10. I want to like this a lot more than I actually do. There's a lot of cool sounds all coming together into something that ends up being pretty grating to listen to. I like to imagine I could get into this, but as it stands now... good submission, but I don't actually care for it

Sort of goofy industrial faux-rage bass noodly fun time. I can see how someone could get WAY into this, and I could even imagine a world where I got WAY into this, but I don't think I'm in that world right now.

Too moved in the desire to be intense, not entirely bad, however very average.

Heard to a lot of this around when it came out, courtesy of bass-playing college friends. Primus always came off a little too stunt-act for me, though with that Zappa complication of doing it all with extremely competent musicianship. Maybe a little more tolerable to me as their lyrical shtick had more of Beefheart's madcap zany energy than Zappa's aggressive absurdist sneer (the rather serious American Life coming in as something of a non-sequitur amidst it all). The vocals don't do much of anything for me though, and now, as then, I find it overall a little exhausting.

There's a level of camp which, even late, produces no cringe. Here it's birthed by relentless funk baselines and no sense of seriousness. Glancing nautical punk is as satisfying as always, a genre to raid ships for notes without making them the Point. Band stays pretty tight, harmonic language and vocals are reasonably varied, what's not to like in this slightly-not-music?
