Some sort of funk / funk rock vaguely nodding to George Clinton or Red Hot Chili Peppers without leaving much of an impression. The grooves are often heavy-handed, the instrumental compositions lack crucial dynamic features and hooks, and a lot of the vocal parts are grating or annoying. A couple of "interesting" moments surge from the shapeless maelstrom here and there, like that ambient bridge in "Stronger Than Ajax / Save The Day". But they can't possibly redeem how devoid of real stakes or charm the whole thing sound. And they are often ruined by the meandering "sung" parts anyway. You want to discover a cool, more current Dutch band? Listen to Tramhaus instead. Cool concept for the artwork though. 1/5 for the purposes of this list of essential albums 6/10 for more general purposes (5+1) For the record, this 1/5 mark is definitely not in the same league as the one I gave to Hombres G yesterday -- in truth a 0/5 album for me. Now here was a truly appalling LP! In comparison, Gotcha! Gotcha! Gotcha! is just a little boring / annoying. It sounds like the Dutch version of Fishbone - but less impactful. Like frenetically unfocused jam music that you don’t remember when your high ends.
one of the worst albums I've ever had the misfortune of hearing
Hmmm
