Treći svijet (eng. Third world) is the second studio album by the Croatian-Yugoslav rock band Haustor, released in 1984. The only song on the album that deviated a little from the atmosphere and overall concept is Radnička klasa odlazi u raj, which was intended to be on the band's self-titled debut LP but received push-back from the label due to its controversial political content. This record reveals how much the group was ahead of its time, because the selection of melodies, harmonies, verses on critical reflection and the ever-current political incorrectness, packed in excellent arrangements and production, sound current and modern to this day.

So bizarre! This is way better than expected. Ovo je stvarno dobar album. Uživala sam slušajući ga. Hvala što si podijelio ovo malo blago!
A cross between Madness and the Police. You can really hardly tell that the language is foreign. Very enjoyable. 4/5
Definitely elements of early Clash in their music. I also recognized a bit of Madness as well (as someone else mentioned). I really liked it. I can't say there was one song that stood out among the others. Just on the whole, it's a solid album from a band I am certain 90% of us never heard of before.
This is really good, especially considering it was released in 1984. Shades of the Police, Dire Straits, and the Clash - all good company to be in. 4 stars.
I didn't particularly enjoy the music but this is more of what the OG list should contain. I'd never seek out Croatian-Yugoslavian rock from the 80s and it is an interesting peak into the culture from that time. My personal rating: 3/5 My rating relative to the list: 3/5 Should this have been included on the original list? Yes.
Very cool album from an underrepresented place and time. Listening to this within the context of what 1980s Yugoslavia was like is interesting and relevant for sure. Enjoyed this and this was a great choice for this list.
Oh good Yugoslav had new wave too! I actually really like the tunes here, especially the flutes and melody coming out of the last track
Fun international take on the Clash here, enjoyed the new wave/rock blend on this Croatian LP. Seems to lose steam in the back half and fall into some repetitive territory, but still manages to remain entertaining even then. Cool listen, always happy to see more non-US/UK adds here and enjoy some non-English vocals.
Wikipedia calls this rock but I heard a lot dub reggae in this. I’m all for some Yugoslavian reggae.
This fell a little towards the Talking Heads side of the music spectrum, but then the pipe gave me Men at Work vibes… not my favorite but appreciated the music.
I liked this: solidly in the global tradition of rock, with folk, world music inflection, but very not American. The language barrier made really engaging with it challenging and I found it tending to fall into the background -pleasant but (through no fault of its own I suspect) superficial.
Meh 2
I didn't really enjoy Treći Svijet, it sounded like a bad foreign cover of The Police, and I really don't like The Police. Production is good but it's a remaster so probably not really representative of the actual era. It's boring, my favourite 2/5 comes up again.
