Promises by Floating Points

This album came out in the throws of the COVID-19 lockdown. When everything was so heavy I decided to buy a new turntable and around the same time I bought this record. It was everything I needed at the time. And it still is.

Sublime by Sublime

This album takes me back to being a chilled out freshman in high school. I still expect to hear “I can play the guitar like a mother mother riot” in the explicit version. In this albums peak my first girlfriend got me 40oz of Freedom (shout out Pam, a real one). That album gave me feeling of low commitment rebelliousness.

Weezer by Weezer

Just a GD classic. I bought this CD when I was 13 and studied it when I was a kid; I feel like listening to it again is just a natural thing, like riding a bike.

I could see how great this would be live in the 90s. however, going to listen to Blood Sugar Sex Magik to align my chakras

Nice record. Ambitious and different from what was out at the time.

When I spent time with this album after it came out i remember liking, not loving it. I can't put a finger on why this is the case, but I loved it on this re-listen. I would have given it 5 stars, but i went with 4 stars out of 5 because I don't know if it could be better than a taqueria on the moon.

When i was younger i looked down on Blink 182. I recognize that it was MTV's fault, not the songs. Not just for oversaturating the music but also for overplaying clips of them running around naked and other pop-punk antics. It's good that they're getting their flowers now - there are some undeniable bangers and great music here.

It's pretty remarkable that this is a mainstream pop record. Credit for pushing the boundaries. I'm a big fan of the really early music that he released for free with Beach House samples and real dark vibes.

I haven’t listened in a long time and was happily surprised at how well an already great album aged. Love the TS Eliot reference in Too Real. Thanks for adding.

Continuum by John Mayer

I want to use this space to somewhat publicly apologize to Mr Mayer. I thought I knew all I needed to because room for squares came out in the Kid A/Amnesiac era and around the same time as Blueprint. And I was in college. My mistake because it made me miss this album. He’s got tunes on here and it’s really well produced.
