Everywhere at the End of Pop 5

Pop is the fourth album by Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project, released on 28 March 2000 on Mille Plateaux. At the time of its release, reviews noted 'a striking left turn' in the sound, compared to other Gas releases; the album sounds considerably crisper, with a less muffled kickdrum and less of the 'underwater' quality present on other releases under the name. Pop is the only Gas album to be released identically on vinyl and compact disc. The third song would appear in an extended format in Gas' second box set, Box. Pop was named the sixth best album of the 2000s by Resident Advisor and the 85th best of the decade by online magazine Pitchfork. In 2016, Pitchfork ranked it the 11th best ambient album of all time.
Everywhere at the End of Pop 5
It's alright I guess as something to have on while you're doing other things, but not very interesting to me. 3 stars.
Unexpected...I thought it was going to be electronic music and I came across some "induction" type sounds like those that abound on YouTube, for relaxation purposes or other things I wouldn't have thought of. I didn't like it either as a lounge or to pass the time because the "trance" lasts too long, it's not for me.
Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Pop 7
I would say ambient electronic music is underrepresented on the list and underrated in general. This is a shining example. Intriguing balance of synthetic and organic. The texture and atmosphere envelops you. If I were to take acid again, this is the kind of thing I'd like to have on.
I like this kind of ambient relaxation music. Use it a bit when I'm in the zone at work and death metal would be too intrusive. 4/5.
Reading and working music done well. If I meditated, I think I'd like to meditate to this
This one nearly exceeded my patience, but managed to stay within tolerance through some interesting synth instrumentation and melodies. Felt very organic and alive in its production, which helped the 10-minute tracks feel slightly more tolerable and dynamic as a relatively static progression can be. This one will definitely get some hate here, but I was able to mostly vibe with it and I think it was the LP I needed today.
If I was dropping acid in a German forest I'm sure I would be vibing outrageously with this. Listen: minimalist art is always challenging and there are things in the visual realm anyway I feel like I developed a real regard for and pleasure in by educating myself about their deeper context. So I'm open to the possibility that there's more to this. But my experience of it was of a (admittedly, not unpleasantly) abstract monotony that quickly receded into the background of whatever I was doing.
I don't think I understand this genre. It's so monotone. Maybe it's good to meditate or something 2*
Music on ket.
This is just lofo electronic music. Hardly even music if you ask me but some people apparently love it. To each their own I suppose but this was background music for background music. This could be in for 8 hours and I probably wouldn’t notice. 1.9/10
