Everywhere at the End of Pop 5

Pop is the fourth album by Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project, released on 28 March 2000 on Mille Plateaux. At the time of its release, reviews noted 'a striking left turn' in the sound, compared to other Gas releases; the album sounds considerably crisper, with a less muffled kickdrum and less of the 'underwater' quality present on other releases under the name. Pop is the only Gas album to be released identically on vinyl and compact disc. The third song would appear in an extended format in Gas' second box set, Box. Pop was named the sixth best album of the 2000s by Resident Advisor and the 85th best of the decade by online magazine Pitchfork. In 2016, Pitchfork ranked it the 11th best ambient album of all time.
Everywhere at the End of Pop 5
It's alright I guess as something to have on while you're doing other things, but not very interesting to me. 3 stars.
Unexpected...I thought it was going to be electronic music and I came across some "induction" type sounds like those that abound on YouTube, for relaxation purposes or other things I wouldn't have thought of. I didn't like it either as a lounge or to pass the time because the "trance" lasts too long, it's not for me.
This was an interesting addition. Like Brian Eno’s Music for Airports, I can think of a lot of great situations where some ambient music like this would be just the ticket. I kind of loved this for the background, which is likely the point? Terrific!
Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Pop 7
I would say ambient electronic music is underrepresented on the list and underrated in general. This is a shining example. Intriguing balance of synthetic and organic. The texture and atmosphere envelops you. If I were to take acid again, this is the kind of thing I'd like to have on.
I like this kind of ambient relaxation music. Use it a bit when I'm in the zone at work and death metal would be too intrusive. 4/5.
Reading and working music done well. If I meditated, I think I'd like to meditate to this
like taking a warm sonic bath
Not that I listened to loads of ambient music but this is up there with the best Iv heard, one to keep in my collection for the correct moment.
This one nearly exceeded my patience, but managed to stay within tolerance through some interesting synth instrumentation and melodies. Felt very organic and alive in its production, which helped the 10-minute tracks feel slightly more tolerable and dynamic as a relatively static progression can be. This one will definitely get some hate here, but I was able to mostly vibe with it and I think it was the LP I needed today.
If I was dropping acid in a German forest I'm sure I would be vibing outrageously with this. Listen: minimalist art is always challenging and there are things in the visual realm anyway I feel like I developed a real regard for and pleasure in by educating myself about their deeper context. So I'm open to the possibility that there's more to this. But my experience of it was of a (admittedly, not unpleasantly) abstract monotony that quickly receded into the background of whatever I was doing.
Can't distinguish this from the music that my wife listens to as white noise to fall asleep sometimes. I guess it is fine, it just makes me feel kind of...zzzzzzz
This wasn't the best for driving to work on a groggy, dark morning. That might have skewed my take on it.
It's very chilled and atmospheric. A bit too ambient for me, but definitely beautiful.
Pop!
Interesting background music. Some of the songs were interesting enough to want to replay and some sounded like a robot's idea of jazz.
Ambient music, in it's nature, seems difficult to talk about. It's supposed to fill the background and not made to be focused on, correct? If that's the measure, it's good. Light, airy synths breathe over very, very light pulsing kick drums. I find it difficult to discuss further, since that's my entire impression of the project. It did it's job. Favorite track: "Pop 4"
A little too repetitive and ambient for my taste, but I see why people like it. 2.5/5, but rounding down.
I don't think I understand this genre. It's so monotone. Maybe it's good to meditate or something 2*
This was pleasant enough to listen to, solid as background listening. Everything kind of blurs together here, so there really weren't any standout tracks. I didn't dislike this and I appreciate a submission in this genre, but this one was fairly unmemorable for me.
Ambient- I’m the wrong audience.
Not sure what to do with this. I think i like ambient, but it doesn't have to go somewhere... even just a little. This barely has a heartbeat. This is some life later, Untitled 4 seems to have a little something as does Untitled 7, but it just isn't enough to want to stick with it, especially as they add a little static at times which makes it a bit less listenable.
Fourth studio album: check Seven songs seventy minutes: check Sequentially numbered pop songs that I'll never remember: check Looks like we're ready for launch. I wonder how long it would take for me to memorize this to the point that I could accurate identify which song is which. How many notes would it take me?
Music on ket.
Ambient meditatvie relaxation music. Not a patch on the Om nommy nom song. Rating: 1 Playlist track: Pop1 Date listened: 04/11/24
This is just lofo electronic music. Hardly even music if you ask me but some people apparently love it. To each their own I suppose but this was background music for background music. This could be in for 8 hours and I probably wouldn’t notice. 1.9/10
Not for me. I got desperate after 2 songs.
Ambient, ambient techno.Muuuuy machacón. Un 1.
Repetitive and boring as hell...
