Doolittle by Pixies

Doolittle is a very loud, noise-filled album and I don't mean that in a bad way at all. I'd never heard any of this bands music before, so it's safe to say that when I pressed play and the opening track 'Debaser' started to play, I wasn't expecting what I was hit with. Tame is filled with screams and really weird noises and made me feel rather uncomfortable, to be honest. The rest of the album is filled with more of the same loud, noisy vocals and instruments. I have never really listened to anything like this before and I enjoyed it.

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens

This was really good. I love Aussie rock.

Pornography by The Cure
Jan 20 2021

Listened to as a part of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. I've heard a little bit of The Cure in the past and enjoyed the odd songs I listened to. This album was a complete let-down for me, personally. I thought that some of the instrumental arrangements were fantastic, especially the drums, but other than that, I didn't really enjoy many of the songs here. Songs I liked: A Strange Day. Cold.

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Jan 21 2021

Paul Simon has been a part of my musical life since I was a child. Growing up, my Mother would play Simon and Garfunkel around the house and in the car. I enjoyed this quite a lot. Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard was my favourite track of the album.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jan 23 2021

This album was nothing at all like I expected it to be. That album art has a lot going on and I thought it was going to be a weird funky album but instead I found an indie-pop sound and I enjoyed it. The sound is really smooth and calming and I really liked most of it. My favourite tracks from the album: John Wayne Gacy Jr. Was my favourite. The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts, a cute tribute to Superman was a cute little song. The Seer's Tower.

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Jan 25 2021

Bubble and Scrape was a great album. I have been looking to find a good indie rock album recently and this fit the bill perfectly. The instruments here were top-notch. The guitar in Sacred Attention was fantastic. I really enjoyed how different Elixir Is Zog was from the previous songs on the album. The softer tracks like Forced Love and Homemade are great and some of my favourites.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Jan 27 2021

I have been listening to Slipknot for years but have never actually sat and listened to an album in full. The Opening track '.Execute.' consists of Mr. Taylor screaming 'All Hope Is Gone' and it set the tone for the album. The whole band did fantastically with their instruments and Corey's vocals are stronger than ever here. My favourite tracks on the album are: Sulfur. Psychosocial. Dead Memories. Snuff. Sulfur is one of my favourite Slipknot songs. Psychosocial hits HARD. Dead Memories is a great track. Snuff is an emotional standout track. A beautiful calm in the middle of a violent, angry storm.
