Wild Wood
Paul WellerSo many British men in this list. “Blue eyed Soul” This album was fine, if a bit generic sounding. Themes of world peace, leaving the city to go live in the country. Just mostly getting tired of all men here.

This album is almost ten years old which is WILD! I listened to it a ton driving around LA when I was there for work. I remember how revelatory it was at the time that Frank Ocean was bisexual—it was a first and was considered pretty dramatic. And here we are 10 years later and it doesn’t feel like a big deal at all. And this album? Such a boo from top to bottom. I hope Ocean makes more. Sometimes we have to wait for good things.
So fun—even though I was a teen when this came out, I didn’t remember all these tracks on one album. The Chili Peppers have fun and you can tell.
Fun—lots of funky and dark imagery here, which is not what I had associated with The Police. Murder by Numbers, King of Pain—definitely dark undertone that reinforce my notion that Every Breath You Take is about a stalker. Fun also to see Sting on “Only Murders in the Building” and wondering if there are any jokes related to this album
So many iconic James Brown-isms in this! It was cool to hear the crowd screaming (the girls!) because he was a sex symbol. So many of the iconic James Brown songs were still to come—this was 1962–but his demeanor and voice is all there. The band and the horns! I could practically see him twirling onstage when I was listening to it.
Didn’t know this was part of Parliament Funkadelic! Had heard “Can You Get To That” before. Loved the lyric “I had life or rather life had me”. Feels fitting as today is my last day at the Paley Center.
Couldn’t find all of this anywhere, but listened to the one track I could find while painting and it grooved
This 3 chord British punk is just not my jam. I guess it has a historical place, but I just don’t really love it
Pretty fun! I’m a southern girl at heart and liked this. Beyond freebies and Tuesday’s gone it was a blast.

I like Donovan and his proto Renaissance faerie aesthetic—some of these were a bit long, and I’m used to listening to his greatest hits where the whitest is separated from the chaff
The last track! 😍 I want it to go on forever, but it doesn’t. The chorus! I play this track over and over. What a baller move to end this album on that unresolved chord. I associate Cat Steven’s with so many pieces of video media as well. “This is Us” uses him almost obsessively. And the title track of which I am enamored is from “Extras”. All in all, good vibes on this album and some substance
The rare mix of dentist’s office music and sex!
Perfectly fine, if a bit generic sounding to me. Nice harmonies and some good toe tappers, many I’ve heard before.
Gosh I didn’t like this at first but then it really sunk into me—melodic, varied, and loved the last track.
Heard quite a few of these love standards before. Between Cat Stevens and Van Morrison, it’s been a gravel-voiced balladeer couple of days
Knew the “Pain and Sorrow” song, but not the others. Fun punk vibe with Bjork’s unmistakable voice. These guys had fun making this.
Some classics on here—interesting to listen to Madonna’s voice for a whole album. It’s strangely distinct—nothing spectacular. She has charisma though.
Fun and nostalgic! I’m a 90s kid so remember this well. Made me wanna go thrift shopping and for a pointless drive. Harkens back to the particular 90s snark
Put me in a terrible mood
Love The Who- they are so tongue and cheek here and you can see Jen playing around with stuff that ended up creating rock opera!
Started off sounding generic, but there were some bops in here. The title track slaps
Liked this! Good ambient driving music with some fun fugues

Not my style, but some good pump up music to walk across the park to
I mean, it’s Ray Charles and a big band…how great is that!?
Such a throwback!
Actually pretty chill to listen to as I worked
Just not for me
