Wild Is The Wind
Nina SimoneThere is a darker tinge to this album than there was to Pastel Blue. "Four Women," "Lilac Wine," and "That's All I Ask" are definitely highlights.

Enjoyed that this wasn't a quirky album. That's usually what's turned me off to Beck. It felt very serious in a singer-songwriter/country/folk kind of way. I loved the production on this, especially the strings.
Not hard hitting, but I suppose at the time of release, it was something new. I'm surprised at how melodic it is for punk, and some of the lyrics are still applicable to today.
With flubs, it feels live, musicians in the moment. Interesting and beautiful chord progressions and melodies Strange production choices.
Very engaging and strangely soothing collection of live tracks.
Didn't really get going for me until the later half. The Fly was the first great song. It's alright overall, though I'm sure it would hit harder if I was more familiar with U2's discography.
Classic album. Great exploration of time signatures in jazz.
Classic for a reason. Really love the loops that end each song.
Was not prepared for how lofi, amateurish, kinky, and queer this album was. Some cool sounds, but is definitely early new wave.
Classic. Though some things haven’t aged well.
Will need to revisit at some point.
Feels strangely middle of the road. Not what I expected.
"Mercy Street" is a standout for me. Beautiful vocals and atmosphere. While an ultimate good, the incorporation of non-Western music comes off cheesy to my modern ear. The end of "In Your Eyes" is an example.
Did not expect slap bass here.
Not a fan when Joni does traditional rock or jazz, but the typical folky/pop stuff is great.
Very very uneven. "I See You" and "Eight Miles High" are really good though.
