Absolutely killer. Never had listened to T. Rex before but this is now going into regular rotation. Heavy riffs, great melodies and sing-along choruses. Def seeing the T. Rex inspiration in a lot of modern day artists like Ty Segall and Smith Westerns.
Favs are Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Broken, and Listen
Last thing I expected was an 8 minute stoner guitar solo to open this up. Super Stupid kills it. Def an inspiration for Lenny Kravitz meets Led Zeppelin heavy riffs. Wars of Armageddon is trippy asf. Weird train bells, alarms, crazy sound effects. Could be something off the Beatles more experimental takes.
Sorry Beasties, just can’t deal with that nasally, annoying flow. I’m sure this was cool in ‘89 but I couldn’t even make it through the whole thing.
Pretty fun vibes on this one albeit a little sleepy. Would be a cool soundtrack to some kind of old school film.
Absolutely killer. Never had listened to T. Rex before but this is now going into regular rotation. Heavy riffs, great melodies and sing-along choruses. Def seeing the T. Rex inspiration in a lot of modern day artists like Ty Segall and Smith Westerns.
Easy breezy summer soundtrack. Don’t typically listen to this kinda stuff but I enjoyed it.
This one is a masterpiece. Completely blown away with the fact that this was all improvised. Keith Jarrett is a musical genius, and thanks to this album, I’m going to be digging into more of his recordings for a bit of jazz inspiration.
Solid album but nothing I feel the need to ever come back to. Feels like they were trying a little too hard with the devil worship stuff.
Went in ready to hate on this one for no good reason, but found the tracks all pretty enjoyable. Good, dramatic guitar fuzz all around.
I don’t get KISS. Despite a few catchy choruses, this album has nothing memorable. Some of the most horrrendous lyrics I’ve ever heard.
Very cool album. Loved that this was less experimental than some of the other VU albums, making it feel a bit more accessible. What Goes On is a jam. Murder Mystery is absolutely crazy.
The definition of all killer no filler. Super crisp production, insane riffs. And surprisingly melodic choruses. Was never big into Metallica before but this is gonna change that.
Meh. Had heard a few of these before but never listened to the whole album. Steely Dan brings the funk on a couple but the rest were a little uninspired.
Solid album with some cool creative choices and strong instrumentation. Bass playing really stands out as excellent.
Veckatimest/Grizzly Bear defined the Brooklyn sound of the 2000-teens. Just an all star combo of musicians. Incredibly creative drumming by Chris Bear and insane guitar work from Daniel Rosen. This album has everything from the pop classics like Two Weeks to cinematic epics like Fine For Now.
All time songwriting/storytelling from Carole King. Probably has like 5 or 6 surefire classic hits that I had heard before but never realized they were from Tapestry. Only reason this doesn't hit five stars for me is because it's a certain mood that you've got to be ready for. Not my typical go-to, but I can really respect and appreciate the artistry here.
Blister in the Sun is an insanely catchy song made with the simplest riff ever. I can’t explain why, but I just really don’t like these guys. The sound is pretty annoying.
Loved this album. Nothing but huge fuzzy riff after huge fuzzy riff. I also knew Dino Jr were “good” but totally slept on them. Bug kills it!
Ehhh not bad but not great. Definitely had some epically dramatic songs, but nothing that really caught my ear. Def hear them as a U2 contemporary in the 80s.
The ultimate vibes album. No one creates a cohesive album as a singular work of art quite like Pink Floyd.
Some of the most epic songs ever written. Won’t Get Fooled Again goes down as an all-time greatest album opener. Even though a few of the middle ballads start off a bit dull, every one ends with at least some crazy crescendo ending.
Really cool album with a super interesting concept. Music was great; loved the psychedelic Beatles vibes.
Would rate this about a 3.5. I typically hate 80s music, but this was sooo dripping in 80s I actually kinda like it. I Wrote a Letter is a jam. Unfortunately, the title track, Private Dancer was way too slow and one of the weakest on the album
Enjoyed this one much more than Paul’s Boutique. Some really great, funky production mixed with some solid flow. Sabotage will always hit right.
Pleasantly surprised by this one. While I had heard a few Byrds songs I never really knew what they were all about. Easy breezy songwriting, great harmonies, with a psychedelic experimental twist.
Pure 70s blues funk rock. The whole band was hitting it out of the park on this one. I can def picture Janis and Co. wailing on these songs at a festival back in the day. Loved the funky riffs on Half Moon.
Meh. This was like an even more country Eagles album. Pleasant easy listening but nothing memorable.
Not really my thing, but I can respect how weird and experimental this is. Parts of it sounded like Dave Matthews going on some extended jam sesh
Some great tunes, but also some unremarkable ones.
This album is pure groove. Seems like each song was built off a singular, crunchy riff. It works. Love the guitar tones throughout. Overall songwriting is a bit lacking, but it makes for a good gym soundtrack.
Ehh had some cool tracks but found it overall a bit slow. Appreciated the eerily electronic vibes.
Super cool album. Would not be out of place in the 2010s Brooklyn electro pop scene. Cool 80s vibe rather than cheesy.
Super stoner rock. Lot of these are jams that go hard! Love all the classic rock organ
Really great flow on everything
An enjoyable ode to NYC. Takes me back to being a 20-something, just living it up in the city
Always been a fan of the Zombies but never listened to this album the whole way through. Love the spooky, psychedelic vibes and great storytelling.
A whole vibe. If I had any talent in making music this would be the kind of band I’d want to be in.
