Popular Reviews

This Land by Gary Clark Jr.

Would be a wild move to give my added album anything other than a 5. Had a crisis choosing between this and another one of his albums Black and Blu but ultimately picked this because it was the first album that came to my head when I heard that we got to add an album to this list once finishing. Guitar Man and Low Down Rolling Stone are two of my favorite all time songs. Plus so many other face melters

Fancy Blue by Tywanna Jo Baskette

60 monthly Spotify listeners this has to be whoever submitted this cousin or something. Really did not need to have a child sounding girl whisper into my ear for 45 minutes. The guitar was alright so I was thinking of giving this a 2 but I honestly couldn't finish it because of the cringy singing. So for that I have to go 1

Wincing The Night Away by The Shins

I always get The Shins mixed up with The Smiths but they are wildly different. Very solid all around indie album. Had a couple of really great songs on here, Phantom Limb and Turn On Me really stuck out. Indie albums like this to me can be very hit or miss. But this one was veyr much hit. Good job, The Shins!

That was just a straight up sick metal album. Hilarious that this band turned into Trans Siberian Orchestra. Strange Wings was a great song.

Oceanic by ISIS

Unexpected enjoyable album, did not have high hopes look at the genre type. This was like metal shoegaze it felt like where the instrumentals were just a continuous noise it felt like. The vocals were a little too sludgy for me but I really liked to instrumentals throughout the whole album.

Temple of Thought by Poets of the Fall
Feb 26 2026

Late highschool early college me would have absolutely loved this album. Unfortunately for 2026 James, this type of music has completely fallen off of my enjoyment radar unless they are songs that I already knew. Very sad boi music. The Happy Song at the end was very randomly weird and good though.

Join Us by They Might Be Giants
Feb 27 2026

That was just a bit too goofy for me. I think I would like them if I only heard a couple of songs here or there, but I did not need to listen to a whole 18 song album.

Up To Here by The Tragically Hip
Feb 28 2026

Sounds like Canadian Drive By Truckers, but much better I must say. This is just some good ol fashioned, no nonsense, southern/folk rock with hard driving guitar. But still lands as a mid to high 3

Triage by David Baerwald
Mar 01 2026

Nothing ever felt right about that album. As soon as something enjoyable would happen it would then turn really strange. Was definitely so cool parts that I liked but overall was not great. The Waiter song was one of the most annoying songs I have heard and I need it to disappear form my mind. I guess this is a highish 2

Suzuki by Tosca
Mar 02 2026

Had some pretty cool beats, but was never anything better than good background music

News at 11 by Cat System Corp.
Mar 03 2026

That was a pretty weird and lazy way of doing an album. As much as I love me some local on the 8s jazz fusion which I think shaped my music taste from when I was a kid, I really didn't need 30 minutes of it to end this album. Especially in horrific quality. I am not sure which human chose this as their one and only album to add. But we are all a little bit stupider and may god have mercy on their soul. LOOOOOOOOW LOW 2, just because local on the 8s jams

How to Operate With a Blown Mind by Lo Fidelity Allstars
Mar 04 2026

Some decent heavy beats in a fair amount of songs but others were quite bad/boring. Overall I'd say I liked it a good amount but not more than a 3 but it was a high 3

The Shape Of Jazz To Come by Ornette Coleman
Mar 06 2026

Just a little bit too improvy for my liking. Sure it is a good jazz album for those who like this style, just not for me

Mar 07 2026

That was some of the oldest timey trumpet I've ever heard. Was nice to listen to but got quite repetitive. Glad I only listened to the 55 minute version on Spotify rather than the 4.5 hour version listed on the wiki

This Land by Gary Clark Jr.
Mar 08 2026

Would be a wild move to give my added album anything other than a 5. Had a crisis choosing between this and another one of his albums Black and Blu but ultimately picked this because it was the first album that came to my head when I heard that we got to add an album to this list once finishing. Guitar Man and Low Down Rolling Stone are two of my favorite all time songs. Plus so many other face melters

Rip It Off by Times New Viking
Mar 09 2026

Hmmmm 4 thousand monthly listens on Spotify, did this guy put his own band on here? I really really do not like intentionally lo-fi music. I could not listen to this whole album it started giving me a massive headache. Sounded like it was recorded through a Speak and Spell

World Of Echo by Arthur Russell
Mar 10 2026

That was incredibly strange but so wildly intriguing. I wanted it to keep going so I listened to the last 4 bonus songs as well. I really don't know if it was good or not, it was more just so trippy and was all in my mindfuzz the whole time. I think I am going to go with a low 4 here mainly because of the uniqueness of this strange trip of an album

Mar 11 2026

This album had some really good high energy songs that I enjoyed, but a few too many really emo songs. Especially the song that ended it that was a terrible ending. Was nice to get an emo rock album on here that we had rarely any of so it was a nice mixup.

Blade Runner by Vangelis
Mar 12 2026

Was a bit skeptical going into this being a soundtrack for a movie have never seen, but this was a pretty sweet album. The immense amount of vaporwave throughout the whole album was pretty bitchin'

Angel Dust by Faith No More
Mar 13 2026

Midlife Crisis just injected me with the ultimate nostalgia drug. RV sounds like mfing Tom Waits. There were some things that I really liked about that album but mostly things I didn't. Much heavier than Faith no More that I am accustomed to. The ending song sounded like a different album. Does not deserve a 2 but it has to be a low 3. Kevin is a Jizzlobber

Mar 14 2026

That was an incredibly satisfying album to listen to. Did not mind at all that it was an hour and 15 minutes long, I enjoyed every minute. Midnight City to kick it off really sets the tone and it does not turn back from the cool electronic spacey nature. Very solid 4.

Goat by The Jesus Lizard
Mar 15 2026

That was a lot of noise and quite annoying. Low 2

Last Splash by The Breeders
Mar 16 2026

Pretty depressing and noisy and just not my type of music. Cannonball is a song that I knew but have not heard in a long time

Fantasies by Metric
Mar 17 2026

I really liked that album just some good rock with synths thrown in and a female singer with a great voice to go along with everything. Pretty much everything I was hoping for when reading about the album beforehand

Boys And Girls in America by The Hold Steady
Mar 18 2026

Glad we are finally getting into some good albums this past week or so, because the first 5 or so albums from the user submitted ones did not give me high hopes for other peoples music tastes. This was a really fun high energy punk-ish sort of rock album. Really unique guitar sounds that added some nice flavor to this album. Same Kooks was sweet caught my self head banging a bit to that one. The slow songs were kind of whack and brought down the mood, but the fast songs outweighed them but I think this still only gets a mid to high 3

Stories by Avicii
Mar 19 2026

Such a baller album that I have never listened to but wish I have a long time ago. I don't think I've actually ever listened to a full Avicii album now that I think of it. Just has some great chill electronics which made it such an easy listen. This style of electronic music is what has hooked me into the genre. Going to be giving this a relisten and it lands in a very high 4. Not quite epic enough for a 5.

Almoraima by Paco de Lucía
Mar 20 2026

Some incredible strumming that's for sure. Was getting a little old until the standing bass came in on Plaza Alta, that song was a heater once that happened. Ended with some more really good strumming. Not something I would ever seek out to listen to but still cool to listen to for 35 minutes once.

Maestro by Kaizers Orchestra
Mar 21 2026

Was a bit skeptical going into that album in the first couple songs being a little strange to start off, but this really grew on me as it went through. Had some really cool metalish type songs I believe Blitzregn Baby and Auksjon were my favorites. Also had some mega duds though scattered throughout. I'd say it was strong enough for a low 4 though.

Mar 22 2026

That was just a straight up sick metal album. Hilarious that this band turned into Trans Siberian Orchestra. Strange Wings was a great song.

I And Love And You by The Avett Brothers
Mar 23 2026

Started off a little too mushy for me in the first couple of songs. But rounded out nicely into a very solid folk album.

Beautiful Midnight by Matthew Good Band
Mar 24 2026

This sounded like the band No Vacancy from School of Rock that won the Battle of the Bands. Just an incredibly mid alternative rock album that was way too long for what it produced.

We Like It Here by Snarky Puppy
Mar 25 2026

Feed me all of the Jazz Fusion you'd like, i would listen all day. Just such an entertaining form of music where you just never know where it is going to go and what instruments are going to pop up next. I feel like I have heard of these guys before but just can't put a finger on where. Anyways, I switched this to a 5 because I listened to it for a third time in 2 days and found more and more things to absolutely love about it

Mar 26 2026

Was a bit hesitant going in seeing that this was a hardcore punk album which I am not a huge fan of generally. But this album was pretty awesome. It was just the right amount of hardcore for me, sounded a good bit like Rage Against the Machine at times. Was really going full throttle at work while blasting this. Definitely exceeded expectations.

Out of the Blue by Debbie Gibson
Mar 27 2026

Had a few parts that were fun, but was overall just some absolute 80s dance-pop shite. I just want to listen to more Snarky Puppy.

First Utterance by Comus
Mar 28 2026

What in tarnation was that entire album?? I felt like I was involuntarily thrown into a k-hole. Especially the very end of that last song where it was alternating left and right headphones. 3/5 would recommend doing every drug on planet earth and listening to this.

Okonokos by My Morning Jacket
Mar 29 2026

Whoever put this on here fuckin rules! This is a top live album for me. Absolutely love MMJ! So many absolute jams on here from their earlier days. Steam Engine (shout our Shakey Knees) Run Thru, and can't ever forget Dodante which I wish was 35 minutes long. Could honestly list every song as being incredible. One of the easiest 5s I could give

Oceanic by ISIS
Mar 30 2026

Unexpected enjoyable album, did not have high hopes look at the genre type. This was like metal shoegaze it felt like where the instrumentals were just a continuous noise it felt like. The vocals were a little too sludgy for me but I really liked to instrumentals throughout the whole album.

Mar 31 2026

Listening to Khrungbin just always puts me in a great mood with how smooth the music is. Especially when it is 68 degrees out and I have my windows open in my house. People Everywhere is a top song. Mr White and White Gloves are also standouts. Not the strongest of 5s but I can't give this anything different

2 by Mac DeMarco
Apr 01 2026

Freaking Out the Neighborhood is a really good song. All of the other songs just kind of came and went. Wasn't bad just not very memorable.

Life Goes On by Carla Bley
Apr 02 2026

That was a lot of yazzy yazz. Not my type of music at all.

Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown
Apr 03 2026

That was a really interesting rap album and a style I have never heard before. Was very rough at points which overall made it a bit of a difficult listen but there were parts that were very cool. Can respect it, but not for me

Lateralus by TOOL
Apr 04 2026

Tool is one of the most unique sounding bands in the fact that their songs don't really have a specific pattern that they ever follow. It makes for such a cool listen because every song stays fresh. I have never listened to this album fully, just a lot of the songs individually and it was quite a journey. Parabol into Parabola is awesome. This one was hard to rate because I love Tool as a whole but I think this album just fell a little bit short of a 5. That last song was creepy as fuc too

Speak & Spell by Depeche Mode
Apr 05 2026

Had some fun beats and tunes in it the whole time, but have never been able to really jive with the singer of Depeche Mode. Just a little too goofy sounding for me. Low 3

Y Ahora Qué? by Reincidentes
Apr 06 2026

These songs would be on the soundtrack to Spanish Tony Hawk Pro Skater

Reconstruction Site by The Weakerthans
Apr 07 2026

Some nice catchy indie beats at a decent amount of times. A few of the songs I really liked some were a bit boring. High 3

The Ideal Crash by dEUS
Apr 08 2026

Really unique rock album with all different types of styles that I enjoyed. I am not going to do any research but it seems like every song was like 6+ minutes long which I know is a turnoff for some people but I like it. Everybody's Weird and Ideal Crash were fun. Overall nice enjoyable album

Polygondwanaland by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Apr 09 2026

Crumbling Castle and Fourth Color are the 2 songs that got me hooked on Gizz after Dan and I were driving home from Wisp and heard Cyboogie come on Sirius XM, so we instantly went back to College Park basement and turned on the KEXP to find out more about what these guys were about. Since then it has been quite a ride in my life with Gizz. Ranked this as my 8th favorite album by them when we did our rankings. Loyality is a top song for me by them it is jsut so awesome. Easy easy 5

In Between Dreams by Jack Johnson
Apr 10 2026

Such a nice soothing album to listen to while I wanted to seriously punch a PM at work right square in his big fat face. Thanks Jack for calming me down. I always forget how many absolute hits of his are on this album. Could listen to this album in any situation. Not a typical 5 by me, but it is just such a dang chill and good album.

Time's Up by Living Colour
Apr 11 2026

Living Colour is such a unique sounding band. They are like glam rock and grunge put together. Not really sure how much I enjoy all of it but there are parts that were really cool.

Dimanche à Bamako by Amadou & Mariam
Apr 12 2026

Really interesting album with a whole bunch of different genres throughout the whole thing. Really clean production as well it was high quality. Got a bit lost at some points during it but still enjoyable

The Livelong Day by Lankum
Apr 13 2026

What a beautifully spooky album with all of the different instruments, especially the strings playing really low tones. Felt like I was in a crazy dream for most of this. Really flew by because I never really knew what was going on but was a great experience.

Brand New Eyes by Paramore
Apr 14 2026

Paramore is awesome I am glad I finally listened to a full album by them. Just the perfect level of everything when it comes to what I want to hear from pop-punk. I didn't know a single song on this album but was jamming out hard. Kind of wish they didn't end on two slow songs but still very good

Yeti by Amon Düül II
Apr 15 2026

Interesting album there it sounded like a more disjointed King Crimson. Parts that I liked and parts that I didn't. Some A+ song names on this album though: Halluzination Guillotine, Flesh-Coloured Anti-Aircraft Alarm, Eye Shaking King are my favorite

You & I by Rita Ora
Apr 16 2026

This is the type of music that AI is going to cause mass layoffs of. Perfect music to play in a mall food court.

Nuyorican Soul by Nuyorican Soul
Apr 17 2026

What a sweet album that had so much going on in a great way. Definitely zoned out of it at many times because of the length and the nature of the album with the fact that it all blended together. But a really awesome album that I am glad someone chose.

Brat by Charli xcx
Apr 18 2026

Well can't lie that certainly was catchy as hell. Not even in the same stratosphere of music that I would choose to listen to but god damn I was bumping during this whole album. 365 did sound like a song that would be played on Nathan so that ruled.

Demon Days by Gorillaz
Apr 19 2026

Excited to listen to this because I never have fully. Feel Good Inc is one of the most fun songs to sing along to and bounce around. Didn't realize about the song DARE being Gorillaz I have heard it many many time. Such an incredible solid album all around that had some mixes of everything in it.

Only Death is Real by Stray From The Path
Apr 20 2026

The price is wrong bitch. That was a whole lot of screaming that started to hurt my head by the end of it. I liked it for a bit but got really old towards the end so probably a high 2

Blonde by Frank Ocean
Apr 21 2026

Very strange song structure it was almost like poetry with some quiet backing beats. Was really interesting to listen to once but don't think that any of these song would ever come close to me listening individually. Probably a 3 for enjoyment but ill go really low 4 for the originality.

Fear Inoculum by TOOL
Apr 22 2026

It can definitely be tough to listen to 90 minutes of TOOL which is why I waited to listen to it until I knew I was going to be in a great spot for it. And cooking hot honey hallomi bowls after smoking a little bit of weed and drinking an ice cold beer right before round 1 of the NFL draft was the right spot. I've listened to this album probably 3-4 times before right when it came out so I already knew it was going to be a 5 going into it. This was actually in my consideration for the album I was going to add, so glad someone beat me to it. Pneuma is a top 5 song for me, it is just perfectly built up and then unleashes one of the sickest guitar riffs on you. Having Invincible follow it which is also an epic song makes for 24 minutes of the best that TOOL has to offer. Can't wait to snowboard again and sync up to blasting Pneuma in our headphones with Kev at Wisp.

Moffou by Salif Keita
Apr 23 2026

One of those albums that i really enjoyed but can't really remember it at all. Exactly what I needed to listen to at the moment and opted for this over Fear Innoculum for now.

Grand Prix by Teenage Fanclub
Apr 24 2026

Big fan of the 1994ish F1 car on the album cover. Not a big fan of the music that was produced from the album itself. Music was pretty good but I could not really get over the singer. Would you like some cheese with that whine, my goodness. The last song SUCKED

Tomorrow Belongs To Me by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Apr 25 2026

This album cover looks like a graphic that would be on the top of a snowboard. That was pretty strange it was like a heavy rocking meatloaf. I looked back at the album that we had on the original list and I liked it a good bit but this one didn't do the same for me

Repetition by Unwound
Apr 26 2026

Bottom 3 genre of music for me with the grungy whining and general "we don't really give a fuck" vibe

Diary by Sunny Day Real Estate
Apr 27 2026

This sounds like an exact album that the original writer of the list would include in his list. Kind of sleepy grungy noise rock. It had its moments but went on for way to long and the whole album kind of just sounded the same the whole time. Still was alright but probably a mid 3

Cleopatra by The Lumineers
Apr 28 2026

Knew more songs on this album than I thought. I once heard someone call this type of music Clap, Stomp, Hey and that makes me laugh every time I think of it. This was a really pleasant album especially the song Gale Song. Was a nice album to listen to on a rainy day

10,000 Days by TOOL
Apr 29 2026

So much TOOL in so little time for us I think that is 3 albums in 2 weeks. Not complaining just an observation. Love that it starts off with just an absolute slammer of a song Vicarious. I think that was the first TOOL song I clearly remember. Listened a couple of days ago so I can't remember everything I had in my mind, but just like all of the others I can certainly see this being not for everyone with the length and intensity of the album. But I was jamming the whole time. Just get so blown away from the progressivness (maybe a word) and Danny Carey's drumming is so unreal. Not quite a 5 but pretty damn close

Madvillainy by Madvillain
Apr 30 2026

Really nice flow from MF Doom as normal. Had some funny songs thrown in as well which is always a plus on albums like this especially the one where it spelled out marijuana. Just a solid all around hip-hop album with good beats and easy flow.

Don't Throw Stones by THE SPORTS
May 01 2026

At first I thought this was just going to be another standard new wave album, but it ended up being really quite fun and a good enjoyable listen. Probably will be memory holed in about a day but was good for the time. Very low 4 but was better than a 3

Shout At The Devil by Mötley Crüe
May 02 2026

I must have listened to this album back in my hair-metal phase in middle school because I knew almost all of these songs. Was a little skeptical going into this but I forgot how hard it rocks. Just kind of no nonsense rock that doesn't care how good the singing or songwriting is, just needs hardcore ass guitar riffs and loud drums. That recipe just works really well sometimes.

Erratic Cinematic by Gerry Cinnamon
May 03 2026

His page on Spotify makes him look like Jim Carrey's character in Dumb and Dumber. Also Gerry Cinnamon is a great name. The song Sometimes to start it off was absolutely excellent. I didn't realize he was Scottish until about the third song when his accent really came out. This was all around really enjoyable with some great acoustic guitar work. Had some boring parts but was mostly good. So for that its a lower 4

For All Happy Endings by David & The Citizens
May 04 2026

Quite a meh album that didn't really have much going on with it the whole time. Low 3

Come On Come On by Mary Chapin Carpenter
May 05 2026

Started out not very good but some upbeat pop-country. Then made me incredibly sleepy for the last 5 or 6 songs. Highlight was Joe Diffie, hope he's wearing his John Deere green up in heaven

A Complicated Woman by Self Esteem
May 06 2026

What in the absolute sweet fuck is this album? I have no idea what to think of it because it could be a 1 at some points and a 4 at others and everything in between. I wish I could give this a ??/5 The 69 song certainly didn't help with it being any less of a weird ass album. I think in personal enjoyment this was a 2 but I have to respect how off the wall it was so i am going to give it a 3.

May 07 2026

Very interesting mashup of incomplete songs. Not really my ideal way of listening to an album but this was pretty decent hearing all of the samples. Had some pretty cool beats and other synth noises on it as well.

A Deeper Understanding by The War On Drugs
May 08 2026

Absolutely love this album and have listened to it many many times. The first 1-4 song stretch is some of the best that War on Drugs have to offer. Strangest Thing is a top song in my library. The second half of the album does not hold as strong as the first half, but that is quite frankly impossible. Such a great album front to back.

May 09 2026

What an absolutely great way to kick off a Friday morning! Such a fun boppy short album that did exactly what I wanted it to. Easy 4 stars.

Wincing The Night Away by The Shins
May 10 2026

I always get The Shins mixed up with The Smiths but they are wildly different. Very solid all around indie album. Had a couple of really great songs on here, Phantom Limb and Turn On Me really stuck out. Indie albums like this to me can be very hit or miss. But this one was veyr much hit. Good job, The Shins!

Welcome To The Beautiful South by The Beautiful South
May 11 2026

That was confusing as hell I never had an idea of what kind of song was going to come next. For the most part this was filled with incredible bops, but then would be followed by a weirder slow song. The ending song was strange. But there were a lot of very fun songs in here. SO with that this is a low 4

McDonald and Giles by Ian McDonald
May 12 2026

WHY IS EVERY SONG TITLE IN CAPTIAL LETTERS ON SPOTIFY?? THIS ALBUM WAS PRETTY GOOD BUT OVERALL I CAN'T REALLY REMEMBER A SINGLE THING THAT HAPPENED IN IT

Dogrel by Fontaines D.C.
May 13 2026

A great album for people who enjoy their singer to just be talking the whole time. Unfortunately that is not for me. Had some decent instruments but overall a low 3

Come And Get It by Rachel Stevens
May 14 2026

Yeah no thanks to this. Gave it a listen for about 8 songs and had to end. Should have left this music in 2005

Sunbather by Deafheaven
May 15 2026

The singer was certainly shocking when he first started but actually grew on me as the album went, mainly because it wasn't the focal point of this album. The progressive metal shoegaze instrumental were very awesome through the whole thing. I have realized that I really like this genre with that ISIS album coming up for us a couple months ago. Don't think I would ever turn this on at any point but I am happy to listen when it comes up on this list.

Quadrophenia by The Who
May 16 2026

To quote Kevin to piss Angus off "Not another fucking The Who album on this list" One thing I took away from this album is that Keith Moon absolutely loves smashing the shit out of his drums pretty much the whole time. Was very interesting that it kept edging the Love Reign O'er Me strings and lyrics in samples throughout the whole album before finally climaxing all O'er the place at the very end. Was an incredibly good listen and one of those albums that practically every song transitioned into the next seamlessly which gratefully causes an 80 minute album to fly by in a great way.

Hand. Cannot. Erase. by Steven Wilson
May 17 2026

I have never heard of this fella and I was looking through his wiki to see if he was in any bands that I knew, because my goodness this scratched my prog rock itch so good my leg started twitching like a dog. So much of this sounded like Umphreys which absolutely rules. Great change up of genres between songs and even mid song. And have to love the use of synths and electronics on albums like these. Going to have to dive more into Steve.

Rêver mieux by Daniel Bélanger
May 18 2026

Nice soothing music that just kind of came and went. Pretty much right down the middle 3

Fancy Blue by Tywanna Jo Baskette
May 19 2026

60 monthly Spotify listeners this has to be whoever submitted this cousin or something. Really did not need to have a child sounding girl whisper into my ear for 45 minutes. The guitar was alright so I was thinking of giving this a 2 but I honestly couldn't finish it because of the cringy singing. So for that I have to go 1

Stranger In Town by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
May 20 2026

In terms of singer/songwriter Bobby S is the cream of the crop for me. His powerful singing voice and bluesy rock sounds are just great every time I listen. Have never listened to this whole album before and my takeaways are the 5 songs that I already knew are awesome and the ones that I didn't will be forgotten.

Get To Heaven by Everything Everything
May 21 2026

This album cover looks like a Slay the Spire card that Defect would be able to play (only Jackson will get that). Gotta love a good art-pop album. When they hit they REALLY HIT. So many unique electronic beats and noises in this from the very beginning that kept me so engaged the whole time. Never had any idea what to expect from the next song coming up. And the singers ghostly voice goes absolutely perfect with the instrumentals. This was the exact type of album I would hope to find on this list so great job to whoever added this! There is now a brand new fan of this band. To the Blade, No Reptiles, and Warm Healer were my favorites that I can think of but honestly every song was so good.

Red by King Crimson
May 22 2026

This was very King Crimsoney sounding for sure but was not up to the standard that I was hoping with some of their other albums. Still a great listen though and a mid 4. But then Starless came up and was an absolute heater once the jazz part came in about halfway. As a song itself it was a 5. Still not enough to push this to a 5 but easily got it to a high 4

Elk-Lake Serenade by Hayden
May 23 2026

Meh way too folky and mumbly for my liking. Really hated the 3 minute or so break in the last song.

Year of the Cat by Al Stewart
May 24 2026

A nice fun album! Kind of sounded like Billy Joel at times. Low 4 but still quite enjoyable and unique

Barton Hollow by The Civil Wars
May 25 2026

I know I say this about pretty much every folk album but it was just too folky for my liking for 95% of it. There was one song that came in with some heavy drums though and that one was pretty cool. Low 3

May 26 2026

Has some well known jams on here and other than that was just a pretty nice listen. Not something I would come back to but it was good. Probably a high 3

Deadwing by Porcupine Tree
May 27 2026

Here's this Steven Wilson fella again but this time with his band that Brandon and Kevin wrote about in their review. Good timing. Always love some progressive heavy rock so this is going to go very well for me I can imagine. Arriving Somewhere But Not Here was awesome. The rest of the album was also quite cool, but a bit long and song songs just didn't quite hit. Sitll a high 4

The Rocky Horror Picture Show by Various Artists
May 28 2026

This sounds like a Meatloaf album. I have never seen Rocky Horror Picture show so I have no reference of these songs at all. Pretty fun but really strange at the same time. An interesting choice for someone's added album but I respect the out of left field approach.

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel
May 29 2026

Always thought this was the weirdest band name. Also, lady on the album cover needs to be carful on how she's raising her hand! My review for this album: That was Milky.

May 30 2026

That was one of the whackier albums I have listened to in a while. Took me a while to get with it but about half way through I really started liking it in a weird way. Two Wuv was the most 2000s alternative song I have ever heard but it was quite a bop. A pretty low 4 but was just fun and unique enough to get it there.

Zaireeka by The Flaming Lips
May 31 2026

Tried to find the mashed up version of all 4 disks at once like it is necessary to listen to this album to get its full experience. But I don't think I was able to so it just didn't work, or it did. I have no idea. Not an album that should have been added on here due to the complexity

Alopecia by WHY?
Jun 01 2026

Interestingly boring the whole time but was kind of nice to have on for the last 45ish minutes. Can't really say much happened but it was ight.

Circles by Mac Miller
Jun 02 2026

I remember when this album came out and I really wanted to listen to it but never did. Nothing groundbreaking at all but it is still some Mac which is great for me. Very low and easy tone. High 3

TRON: Legacy by Daft Punk
Jun 03 2026

People really like putting soundtrack albums on here, already 3 I think. This was kind of not good out of context of the movie for the first like 40 minutes, but then picked up into a really cool instrumental. Sounded like some Ecstasy of Gold on there and also I think C.L.U. is in the loading screen of some video game (maybe COD). Anyways pretty standard 3

Home, Like Noplace Is There by The Hotelier
Jun 04 2026

Nice little punky emo album that I don't really listen to too much of. Sounded like Weezer mixed together with some other bands. Nothing I can see myself going back to but in the moment it was really enjoyable.

Forced Witness by Alex Cameron
Jun 05 2026

Some really nice synth-pop to start out. Country Figs was catchy as hell right out of the gate. This guy is horny as hell my goodness, loves talking puss. That had some really cool instrumentals it was real laid back. Overall mediumly enjoyable album

After Hours by The Weeknd
Jun 06 2026

What I liked: Songs all blended into each other which is always cool, Blinding Lights What I didn't like: Pretty much everything else

Jun 07 2026

That made me want to turn into a boulder and rip a jack like the dude on the cover. While that wasn't horrible it certainly wasn't at all pleasurable. Felt like my head was going to explode the amount that the sound switched headphones. How can the wiki list that as the genre Dance Band? Very very low 2

Out Of Time by R.E.M.
Jun 08 2026

Not really sure why but REM has just never done anything for me aside from the few hits that they have. This is now the 5th album we've had and it will be my 5th 3. And these are all very middling 3s.

Loss Of Life by MGMT
Jun 09 2026

Pretty disappointingly slow when it comes to my expectations of MGMT. I know that they can't have the same sounds as all of their albums but this one wasn't nearly as fun as some of their others. Still some cool psych elements though which I can always get down with

Moanin' by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers
Jun 10 2026

In terms of Jazz that was top of the top for me. Not really sure how much improv there was in there because it was all so tight the whole time. Bonus points for the genre being listed as Hard Bop

"Awaken, My Love!" by Childish Gambino
Jun 11 2026

Childish is such a G I love the style of music that he makes. Such a unique way of rapping and production. Think I need to give this album another listen but initial thoughts are high 4, close to 5. Just such an entertaining album. Redbone is such an incredible song that's kind of in a genre in a genre of it's own, which is a bit annoying because I have always wanted to add it to a playlist but I have no idea which one it fits on.

Millennium by Backstreet Boys
Jun 12 2026

If this didn't just have me on the member berries from the songs I know then this would be an easy 1. But the hits are incredibly catchy I can't lie about that. Rest of the album with the slow loves songs were absolute doo-doo. The hits carried this shit up the hill like Sisyphus.

Racine carrée by Stromae
Jun 13 2026

Pretty decent house music but nothing I would come back to at all. Merci was a very cool song though I liked that a lot. This is a mid to low 3

Nail by Scraping Foetus off the Wheel
Jun 14 2026

That was incredibly strange. It was like if Tom Waits was the front man for Kollaps. I can't necessarily say that I enjoyed it but it had some pretty cool points. Mostly unsettling though.

Live in San Francisco by Thee Oh Sees
Jun 15 2026

Scratched my Giz itch when we just saw them and also plays very similarly on this whole live album. So scratchy and reverby. That absolutely flew by because it sounded like 1 long song. Not my favorite type of music all the time but it hit nicely here. High 3

Jun 16 2026

Was a nice listening album but didn't really move the needle for me. A bit too whiny and sad for me at points. But totally unoffensive.

Before These Crowded Streets by Dave Matthews Band
Jun 17 2026

I know DMB is not for everyone but I have always really liked them. Never listened to this full album but it has so many early hits on it that I have only listened to the live versions of. Was quite cool to hear the studios. I just get so sucked in with all of the different instruments that are played throughout the whole time.

Flood by They Might Be Giants
Jun 18 2026

Such a goofy sounding album that i can't take seriously at all. It sounded like a children's album the whole time. Something about this band now that it is our second album just doesn't click with me.

The Unutterable by The Fall
Jun 19 2026

Another Fall album, another disappointment. This album was very boring I don't really know how else to describe it. The singer doesn't sound like he wants to be in the band. Way too long for how unejoyable it was

Dead Elvis by Death In Vegas
Jun 20 2026

That was an absolute tip of an album. I don't really know how to describe what I just listened to, but my brain certainly enjoyed it.

Bon Iver by Bon Iver
Jun 21 2026

Never really listened to Bon Iver but I know a lot of my friends like him/them? This was a really good folk album which normally isn't my Jam, but this was super unique. Beth/Rest was a beautiful song to end with

Pink by Boris
Jun 22 2026

That was a whole bunch of noise.

Jun 23 2026

Back to back very noisy albums. This one was better than Boris by a step up. Not my favorite with the monotone whiney singer though still.

This might be some of the coolest music I have ever heard in terms of instrumentals. Really awesome guitar riffs mixed with some electronics I thought that the narration would get annoying after a while when it first came up but it was actually pretty sweet. The second disc did start to get a little too Disney movie like in the beginning with the characters, but the instrumentals were still top notch. This may be the weirdest 5 I give because I will never listen to this again most likely, but it was so dang entertaining the whole time.

St. Jude by Courteeners
Jun 25 2026

Pretty much just sounded like Arctic Monkeys, which I didn't hate because they rock. This was a just great rock album that's all I can really say about it. There were a few songs there towards the end that really had me going.

Espaloian by Itoiz
Jun 26 2026

A very fun different type of album. Really enjoyed this the whole time. Songs changed up a good amount to keep things fresh.

L'autre... by Mylène Farmer
Jun 27 2026

That started off real synthy and cool for the first few songs but then got wayyyyyyy too slow and cheesy sounding in the second half

Jun 28 2026

That was mostly really cool, definitely had some weird parts like COOL party. But the electronics overall were quite funky in a great way. Fascination to end it was sweet, except for the part where he was talking about helicoptering his meat around.

Ruby Vroom by Soul Coughing
Jun 29 2026

Incredibly unique genre which was hard to explain. I liked it for the first couple songs but got very old very quickly. Got very hard to listen to and was incredibly too long

Jun 30 2026

Was a really classic rock sounding album that was kind of a delight to listen to. Was definitely pretty standard sounding with nothing crazy sticking out, but I had a good time listening. On the low side of a 4.

Modal Soul by Nujabes
Jul 01 2026

Pretty incredible lo-fi album with some really nice flowing rap included. Read this guys story and it's very unfortunate what happened to him because he was the creator of some really great music. Really liked this a lot but not quite a 5, very high 4.

Sound Awake by Karnivool
Jul 02 2026

Really love listening to this style of metal/hard rock on occasion and it hit really well for me here. Not something I would turn on daily but I have always been a huge fan of this genre. Karnivool will need to be added to my list of "bands I should listen to randomly on a Saturday coming up this Fall or Winter" This gets a pretty high 4

GLOW ON by Turnstile
Jul 03 2026

Turnstile rocks so absolutely hard it is ridiculous. They are the perfect amount of hardcore for me without going overboard. Just so many different aspects go into their songs so that it's just not straight up screaming hardcore madness the whole time, which makes a great balance. That way when the screaming hardcore madness comes in it hits so great. Seeing them at Bonnaroo was awesome! The fact that their only visuals are just zoomed in cameras of the live moshpit while some methed out people from Dundalk run around and slam into each other makes for such an awesome experience. I definitely l like NEVER ENOUGH more than this album but this one also rips hard. Was on the 4/5 line but its getting bumped up because I only have about 3 hours left of work before 4th of July long weekend at the lake and this got me pumped up for that.

Mingus Ah Um by Charles Mingus
Jul 04 2026

Smooth ah jazz from Mr. Mingus. Gets a bump up to a 4 cause jazz is nice to listen to when done well

Nonagon Infinity by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Jul 05 2026

Second favorite Gizz album and it absolutely pwns for the first 20 minutes or so through People Vultures. I remember the first time hearing that I couldn't really comprehend what was going on all I knew it that I loved it. The remainder of the album is also completely awesome. Road Train is such a baller way to close it out.

Carolina Confessions by The Marcus King Band
Jul 06 2026

Really great blues rock album. I have listened to Marcus King here and there but never a full album. I think I also saw them open for Umphrey's once which actually all 4 of us may have been at the Anthem for. Overall really enjoyable guitar and singing

Sublime by Sublime
Jul 07 2026

Such a dang good album and a complete classic from the 90s. Not sure how many times I have listened fully to this album but I definitely know every song. Every time I hear What I Got I can only ever picture biking around as the SlimJim guy in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX

Weezer by Weezer
Jul 08 2026

So many hits from ol Weez. Only in Dreams was a very good long song that i have never heard of. Really well done on this debut Weezer

Partisans & Parasites by Daniel Kahn
Jul 09 2026

What in the heck with all of these sea shanty type songs. Was very strange but also strangely enjoyable. Parasites was one of the weirder songs I have ever heard. SIX MILLION GERMANS This ended up as a surprise low 4

Images and Words by Dream Theater
Jul 10 2026

Dream Theater has been a band I have always wanted to get into but never have given them a fair chance. This album starts off incredibly hair metal ballady which I was not a huge fan of. As it went on though it got metal as hell in the style of prog metal that I really like. Some of the guitar in throughout this album was so sweet. Learning to Live being an 11 minute power ender was awesome. This started at a low 3 but made its way to a pretty solid 4.

Emotion by Carly Rae Jepsen
Jul 11 2026

I don't think this album was created for 34 year old white dudes sitting in their basement playing Diablo IV, and you know what that's quite alright. I gave it a try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Stella by Yello
Jul 12 2026

The first song was pretty cool and jazzy but the rest of the album quickly turned dark and weird and I did not like

Pulse by Pink Floyd
Jul 13 2026

Absolute doozie of a live album. Love the deep cuts on side one. Pink Floyd is just not the same without Roger Waters.

From The Lions Mouth by The Sound
Jul 14 2026

Pretty standard sounding post punk for me. Straight down the middle 3

Game of Fools by Koritni
Jul 15 2026

These guys wanted to debut in 1978 so badly. Some of these songs rocked really hard but a few of them were a bit cheesy sounding. Good songs outweighed the not so good though.

Romance by Fontaines D.C.
Jul 16 2026

Much more of an enjoyable album compared to the last album we had by them. This one sounded way more alternative. If you would have told me this came out in 2003 I would believe you.

Broken Social Scene by Broken Social Scene
Jul 17 2026

Was a weird mix of a lot of genres. Went from liking it, to not liking it, to liking it, and repeat pretty much the whole album song to song. I think I liked it for the most part but I was a very confused boy during it.

I Trawl the Megahertz by Prefab Sprout
Jul 18 2026

This is the least hyped Friday album I have ever listened to what an absolute buzzkill. Ok maybe that was just the first song with the disturbing talking girl. Rest of the album sounded like a Fantasia/Kingdom Hearts mix of songs which was really cool. Confusing album to rank because I will never listen to this again but i am glad I did once. Going 4.

Savage Sinusoid by Igorrr
Jul 19 2026

Absolute mayhem from the very opening with the terrifying scream. This is certainly one of the more unique albums I have ever heard in my life. It was like dubstep metal combo that I didn't know could go together but it was pretty cool. Never would listen to this again or anything close to it but I am happy I have heard this type of music once in my life to know that cetain madness still exists.

Save Rock And Roll by Fall Out Boy
Jul 21 2026

Wow this made me really fucking angry by how bad it was. I don't think that this got anywhere close to saving rock and roll. In fact we are all dumber for listening to it and may god have mercy on your soul.

Jul 22 2026

Pretty generic 90s alternative. This would have been music I would have really liked growing up but it is now kind of just standard music to me.

Psychic by DARKSIDE
Jul 23 2026

Just listened to this like a week ago on Spinshare. A wildly psychy album with some crazy electronics that were doing some fun things in my ears. Felt like I was in dream world for a little bit.

Contra by Vampire Weekend
Jul 25 2026

Knew a shocking amount of songs on here. Horchata is a fun little jingle. Cousins is awesome. Didn't know either of those were VW. Was fully expecting A-Punk to come up even though i knew it was not on here but it is jsut burned in my brain from getting in Kevins car

Aug 13 2026

Pretty noise punky, that's really my only takeaway. This is an album I expect to see on Spinshare.
