Bright Flight
Silver JewsThis album has been awesome. Really really enjoyed it. Kurt Vile vibes in some ways, nice low key country. Will try to keep this in the rotation, for sure!

Don't really know The Cure beyond their radio hits, so interested to see what a full album is like. Pictures of You -- 2 songs in, very much enjoying the vibe so far Cool album overall. I don't know that many songs particularly stood out, but nice vibes and a kinda "falling apart" type feeling most of the way through. Like it felt rickety somehow?
I think there are lots of songs and references on this album that have made it into my life without ever knowing where they're from. Nick Gall always used to say "feelin good feelin great", which is a line from a song on this album. Some fun funky tunes and some pretty impressive rap verses too. Not my usual wheelhouse but enjoying so far.
Haven't listened to this whole album in ages but it's a classic. Bangers all the way through. On Out Ta Get Me right now, and it hasn't slowed down once yet. A little bit AC/DC-ish in the bit of sameness from song to song, but man do GnR know how to execute. And a good reminder of why I always loved Slash as a guitar player. Yep, excellent album. Classic, loud, in your face rock music. Awesome guitar work, and tons of attitude. Glad to have a reason to revisit this one.
I actually remember borrowing this CD from the library in like 2003 and ripping it to our home computer. I don't remember any songs beyond Bittersweet Symphony, which was a banger then and is still a banger today. Kinda Oasis-ish vibes a couple songs in. Nothing to write home about so far, but highly inoffensive. Oh they wrote Lucky Man. Yeah I remember this one, didn't realize it was The Verve. I don't mind this song either.
Off to a good start. Nice jazz, she's got a great voice. Live album means you get to hear the interaction with the crowd and some banter. Makes it feel very live, I dig it. How High the Moon -- she doesn't know the words, admits it, and copies Ella Fitzgerald and scats the verses. Badass, that's hilarious
Another classic, although I don't know that it's actually that high up on my list of AF albums I usually listen to. Definitely has some hits. City with No Children -- really feels like one long song so far. Really enjoying it. Modern Man had some fun time signature bending which was neat. Didn't get it finished, but will listen to the rest today
Starts off big. Lively, big horn section, fun first track. Fun jazz album. Not entirely my jam but hard not to move at times, definitely fun to listen to.
Alright, game on. Prince has always felt like a bit of a blind spot in my music knowledge, so looking forward to diving in here. That was great. Short and sweet. Very fun, Purple Rain is as epic as everyone tells me.
Another band I've come across but never really dug into. Half way through, enjoying it so far. Good album, some good tracks, but didn't blow the doors off for me. Would love to give it a 3.5, but will round down to 3.
Wow. Very impressed a couple songs in. This guy seems really good. Yeah, that was very cool. Enjoyed it a lot, comfortable 4/5 I think.
Woah. Talk about a big open. Never heard of this band, opening track is big loud and in your face. This album is insane. Nonstop loud fast crazy. It's got so much going on. A bit samey, but lively for sure
Nice soul album, pleasant but didn't grab me. Not really many thoughts on it, tbh.
Can't wait for this one. Probably my favourite Jimi Hendrix album, at the very least is has Bold As Love, which has been my favourite Hendrix song for a long time. AND I'm about to fly to Seattle, home of Jimi himself. Good timing. Better than I remembered it. Bold as Love, Little Wing, Castles Made of Sand, If 6 Was 9... great album. Gonna be the first 5/5 I think.
Pretty good! I feel like the Pixies are a band I would've loved at an earlier point in my life. This was a good album though, π for sure
Long extended album. Fun blues, a few good tracks, but not too many huge standouts. π, but not amazing or anything I wouldn't say.
This was good. A bit "out there" for my tastes, but enjoyed it. Solid π
I think the guitar work so far in this album is the definition of "blistering". Kinda SRV-esque, fun guitar driven blues
Didn't like this one. Not objectively terrible or anything, I just don't like Supertramp. π for this one
Not crazy about this one, just not really my vibe.
I know upfront I like this one. Rebellion (Lies) might be my favourite AF song.
This was good. Only one or two songs I knew, but a fun album. Lively and some cool arrangements. π
This is cool so far. I don't find the actual songs that memorable or anything, but you can very clearly hear where they're coming from, and the roots of what came after. The Who, bits of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, but also early pieces of the Strokes or the Killers or even the Arctic Monkeys.
Decent, some fun moments but nothing really stuck out. Kinda blah overall, I'd give it a thumb sideways if there was such an emoji.
This was alright. Toe-tappy but nothing remarkable. π, but nothing special.
In spite of the fun coincidence of my having had dinner at Boo Radley's last night, this album was a bit of a dud for me. Couple alright songs, but nothing memorable. Probably 3/5 π situation, but I may downgrade that to a 2 after a nights sleep on it.
π€π€π€ This album rocks. AC/DC at their peak doing exactly what they know how to do. All the songs have that familiar AC/DC sound but there's a bit more variety and interest in the instrumentation than usual. Angus Young rips, and the band as a whole just really leans into themselves. I can't give this anything other than 5, partly nostalgia, but also I think just a really well executed hard rock album.
Mellow, chill, but didn't really grab me. Not too many thoughts on this, to be honest.
Groovy and relaxing so far, a little jazzy and spicy. Not too bad so far, enjoying it. Yeah, this one was cool. Nice working music, probably could give it another listen and enjoy it more. π
This album has been awesome. Really really enjoyed it. Kurt Vile vibes in some ways, nice low key country. Will try to keep this in the rotation, for sure!
Never listened to this directly, but am varying degrees of familiar with the hits. There's something truly epic about a slow metal banger, which I'm hearing on The Unforgiven. Only a few songs in, but so far enjoying it more than I expected to. The first half was good, the last half got boring. I'll give it a 4/5 for rocking, but yeah definitely found it to be top-heavy.
This was fun. Loud and wild, interesting little time capsule. I can only imagine how people must have responded to it back in 1969.
This was really good. Some songs I knew but lots I hadn't heard before. The man can sure put together an album, no doubt about that.
This is cool so far. His rendition of Hallelujah is stunning, but we already knew that. Some other fun stuff, echoes of Radiohead and even a bit of early RHCP in a few tracks. Enjoyed this, would listen again.
This was alright, nothing too remarkable.
Halfway through, this is great. Really nice jazz, awesome guitar solos, chill and groovy. Yeah, this was nice. Would definitely listen to it again.
This is good stuff. Not a band I knew much about, but some familiar tunes on here. I think New Wave is a genre I haven't paid nearly as much attention as I should, I think it's the kinda thing I'd rather quite enjoy.
This was pretty good, if somewhat unremarkable.
This was nice. Not quite what I expected, but solid.
This is great so far. Super groovy, can hear roots of lots of more modern hip hop and rnb. Lots of Kendrick Lamar.
Some good songs, lots of what felt like filler, and, nowadays, unfortunately too much baggage. Can kinda see how it was a big deal when it came out but didn't really do it for me now.
This has been good. Don't know that I've heard any of these songs, but I've definitely heard the name SZA. Chill, kinda lo-fi RnB. Not entirely my jam, but nice to hear every once in a while. π
Lots of the songs weren't available on Spotify, but those that were, were good. I knew most of them, I've listened to this album before. It's nice, incredible vocal harmonies and some really nice guitar work.
Short and sweet, but very nice.
Not really my thing, but lively and loud. Not many thoughts on the album overall.
This was great. Crazy over the top blues. Lots going on at all times. I'm pretty sure I recognized some of the guitar lines from the book Nik brought when I first got my electric.
This was fun. Can hear how it was probably mind blowing when it first came out.
Haven't gotten all the way through it yet, but I've really enjoyed what I've heard.
This wasn't for me. Some songs were ok, some were trash, most were forgettable.
This one was fine. Some good songs (the popular ones) some forgettable. Maybe not the best U2 album?
Kinda dad-rock-y. Inoffensive, had some ok moments but really not for me.
This one rocks. But we all knew that. Pretty much hits across the board, always been a huge fan of this album. Don't know that it's my favourite from Zeppelin, but it's up there, maybe in my top 3.
This was pretty good. Some familiar tracks, really liked the cover of American Pie.
Big, brash, loud, early hip hop. Can definitely see why it caused such a stir, but also it wasn't the beginning of that stir, so you can hear the reaction to the reaction, of sorts.
