Low-Life by New Order
May 21 2023

A great album, many tracks have melancholic lyrics combined with happy beats. Based on the lyrics alone, at first I thought the band was American, not British. Like a typical 80's album, many tracks are heavy on the synth (not a bad thing). I also thought the vocalist had a fitting, "broken" voice for this kind of rock. Best tracks in my opinion are Elegia, Sub-Culture and This Time of Night.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
May 22 2023

A solid Metallica album. I feel like some tracks here tend to drag on for too long (if you're not a fan of long guitar solos), but overall there are more good tracks than not.

I was conflicted if I should give this a 4 or 5, but ended up going with a 5. It's all in all a great album, with only 1 or 2 tracks I didn't like (and even they weren't that bad). I also imagine it must have been quite progressive for its time. The track I most enjoyed was I'm Only Sleeping.

Green by R.E.M.
May 27 2023

For the most part, I feel like the album was kinda bland. There are a few tracks that stand out more (Pop Song 89, Orange Crush, Turn You Inside-Out), but nothing that really captivated me.

Pearl by Janis Joplin

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
May 29 2023

If it weren't for Paint it Black, I would have probably given it a 1.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
May 31 2023

Starts off very strong, but loses some of its steam in the middle of the album (why on earth is Why Worry 8 and a half minutes?) In the end it did win me back again with the last tracks.

Jun 02 2023

Took me a while to get used to this album, since overall it's more talking and telling stories rather than music. The music is very pristine though and near the end I started to enjoy it more and more, so it would feel offensive to give it any less than a 4.

Jun 04 2023

The opening track was fine, but apart from that I didn't get anything from it.

The Band by The Band
Jun 06 2023

As far as folk music goes, not a bad album at all. I feel like maybe I would get more out of it if I were American though.

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Jun 07 2023

Although I'm not a huge punk fan, I feel like this was a solid album. It doesn't drag on for too long and the tracks were concise yet visceral and impactful in a way punk should be.

Planet Rock: The Album by Afrika Bambaataa
Aug 10 2023

You can hear the influence that this album had on the music that followed it. This historical influence however does not make the album any better to listen to. Some tracks have a pretty good beat and rhytm, but are still very repetitive and overstay their welcome.
