Very classic, love this old school stuff, though my knowledge of rap/hip-hop is extremely limited. "Party for your Right to Fight" was parodied by Beastie Boys? Or vice-versa? I've definitely heard some of these songs in passing.
Never was a big fan of the hits off this album (or Blondie in general) and the rest it wasn't much better. "I Know But I Don't Know" was the only track I really enjoyed, some of the guitar and bass work was cool.
At least it was short!
Legendary album, wasn't sure if I should listen to the U.K. or U.S. version, so I listened to them both. A lot of the Stones' best known songs are on here, and the rest could be blues classics in their own right.
Very early post-punk. It somehow sounded both raw, and smoothed out. You could almost hear Joy Division in a couple tracks. I wish there were some more intensity, and could do without the poppier elements, but it's a good album nonetheless. On the fence between 3 and 4 stars, I'll round up.
Not really my thing, but I can appreciate the influence. I had hipster friends back in 2011 that reeeally were into The Smiths and I can see why. Rating based on my personal tastes, if I were to try to be objective it would probably be a 4 or a 5.
For some reason I dismissed bjork as another generic pop artist, I was so wrong. Her voice and the instrumentals are amazing. The album is incredibly unique and diverse, the next track always surpised me. "Aeroplane" is a straight up jazz song, other tracks are house and edm. Going to relisten to this with a pair of good headphones.
Godawful. I can appreciate old country, but this ain't it. Every single song was a variation on "love ma darlin'". The one (maybe 2?) upbeat songs were almost tolerable, but the rest was unbearable. I went into it open to awarding a star for the slide guitar, but there wasn't a lot of it, and what was there wasn't very good. Listening to this album actually put me in a bad mood.
Great album, some 5/5 tracks here. Only song I knew was Superstition, which I love. Don't know why I never got into Stevie before..
Some songs are a little meh, but the great funky ones make up for it
Bunch of fun songs. Was scared after the last country album I got, but this was much more upbeat.
Awesome album, experimental but coherent. Love Jimi
I've been wanting to get into 90s techno for a while, this is a good a place to start as any. Great mash of genres, loved all the metal bits. Very hypnotizing album, this sort of stuff is great to listen to while doing repetitive manual labour.
Sounds a bit like demo recordings of rejected Beatles songs, aside from 'Maybe I'm Amazed' (which I honestly thought was a Beatles song until I listened to this)
Its not a bad album, it'd make for good background music while relaxing in the sun. Solid songwriting. I've always much prefered George Harrison's solo catalogue though, it has more depth that McCartney's lacks.
Classic rock radio mainstay. Not bad, but not my thing.
Good stuff, liked the jungle theme of it all. The hidden percussion track was cool
Never got into Prince. Its funky, I like it
The first album I ever bought as a young teenager. Masterpiece. All the singles are awesome. Boulevard of broken dreams was on the radio every single day and I don't think I got sick of it. St. Jimmy is underrated, great punk tune.
Cant go wrong with the King. Some of the songs are a bit sappy. In the Ghetto was absolutely ridiculous lol
Good album, classic songs
Its not terrible, but the vocals can be a bit grating at times. Torn between 3 or 4 stars. Would give 3.5 if I could
Legendary band. Usually just listen to their whole discography because there's unfortunately not that much of it. Wasn't sure which tracks were on this one, but they're all great.
I like Willie, but a bit slow for my taste. Not bad at all though
Great stuff. Definitely influential, and a lot of fun. Its almost metal lol
Not bad. Lyrics are shallow, the Eminem song was decent. Can hear the dying breaths of 90s rap/hip-hop in there.
Not bad not great. Didnt do much for me either way
More than I expected from Yes. Cool mash of genres.
Its alright, songwriting was decent. A bit soft for me and not much variance between songs.
Bob Dylan's always great, even if he can't sing
I love this era of hiphop. Good rhymes and politically aware
Its ok. Cool soundscapes, didnt speak much to me one way or the other though
6/10. Decent, but too coldplay-y
New-wavey post-punk goodness
Nice and mellow. Some of his medical claims about the green stuff are.... dubious
Discovered this in high school, still remember most of the lyrics. Great beats and delightfully bizarre.
Not my thing. Found his voice very irritating
Very 80s for better or worse. A lot of these tracks would fit on the Space Jam sound track. Fun early synths
Considered one of the best for a reason. Theres nothing else like it. Timeless
Lots of great post-punk albums on here. Love this early new-wave stuff
Wasnt sure what this was when it started. It sounded like I was listening to a horror/film noire movie. Sure enough, I read about it after listening to it and its written as a soundtrack to a nonexistant noire movie. Awesome and unique concept. Its experimental without being too avant-guard-y. Im a sucker for anything noire, will revisit this for sure.
Title track is decent. Wish ratings were more granular, its better than 2 stars but not quite 3. Dead average, funky.
Underrated band, so happy theyre on here. RIP D. Boon
Not my thing, but hey, its the Toy Story guy. Who knew he drank so much
Good jazz from a good era
Did "gigolo" mean something else in the '50s?
