Songs From The Big Chair
Tears For Fears
I went into this album expecting to not like it and to my surprise it was actually pretty good. This album takes a darker approach to New Wave and I like that. The tones used were much more tasteful than the usual new wave standard and the lyrics and vocals convey emotion and vulnerability.

Honestly gonna have to agree with Andy. There's essentially two songs on this album that they go back forth with. I was expecting to be pleasantly surprised, but instead I was just sadly surprised. This is album was extremely boring and sounds like every other 50 pop album

The Human League
Most of the album was pretty bleh. I liked Do or die because the instrumental reminds of old school sonic the hedgehog and I am the law music sounds like stranger things. I think this band would be much better if it took its tone selection and did a more instrumental soundscape album. But I feel their tones sound cheesy when trying to make pop music

The Smashing Pumpkins
This album is really good, songs like Tonight, Tonight really caught my attention and many of the heavy songs has tasteful tones reminiscent of Ty Segall. There are many songs I would probably listen to again and again, but I think devoting time to listening to the whole album would be tough and not worth it. Probably should have cut this into two albums with one having the heavier tracks and the other having the indie style songs. Although maybe including all of the track is the reason this album belongs on this list so it's just personal preference of how I like to listen to music

Incubus
This album was ok. Battlestar Scralatchtica is definitely my favorite track on the album. I feel like the band is trying to mix hip-hop, grunge, and jazz elements, but they don't quite blend it well resulting in an album that doesn't have clear mood or tone. There are songs that I will be re-listening to, but I don't think this is an album that I would want to take the time to listen through to its entirety

Tommy
The Who
Gotta love The Who, this album is ground breaking in it's approach to story telling though the medium of an album. The best part of this album might actually be the humor that they employ with songs like Tommy's Holiday Camp and pinball wizard. I also enjoy the tones of this instruments, but that is more a product of the 1960's. Idk if this is The Who's most impressive album, but there is a lot of dynamics that makes it belong on this list

Sarah Vaughan
Each song contains a consistent flow and mood. What is really cool is that it's almost like a time capsule that takes you into a Chicago jazz club in the 50's really making this album a historically relevant album. Considering the songs, they are all solid I had never heard of Sarah Vaughn before this album and maybe that's because she up against all the other ladies of Jazz who are even more popular, but she has a wonderful voice that is even more impressive considering it was all live and then her improv is impeccable and humorous. Not too mention her backing band is chill and helps create the atmosphere. September Rain was probably my favorite track

Led Zeppelin
Classic album with classic tunes. Led Zeppelin have some of the best hard rocking riffs with Whole Lotta Love and Heartbreaker (Heartbreaker is the song that introduced me to Led Zeppelin). They even experiment with mixing blues rock with noise absurdity with Whole Lotta Love and What Is and What Should Never be. I don't think as a whole that Led Zeppelin 1 is a better album with better song structures, but this album probably has more catchy riffs scattered throughout the album.
Favorite song: Heartbreaker

Marilyn Manson
Probably the worst part of Marilyn Manson's music is Marilyn Manson's involvement. Seriously though some of the music on this album was actually pretty cool and unique with some ambient guitar in Beautiful People and tasteful fuzz tones that don't get unnecessarily heavy. Manson has an image though of some kind of creature out a horror movie and he conveys through his vocals which is ruins each song. I will say that the tone and vibe of this album is consistent and so if this is a the kind of music that you enjoy then this is a well planned out track list for its target audience.
Favorite track: Irresponsible hate album
Least Favorite Track: Honestly none of them are so bad that they stand out, but as a whole I don't really like the album lol

This album was really cool. I had never heard of this group before, but I dig their style. I use bass, drums, and keys in a very tasteful way. I didn't vibe with album very much. Probably the coolest part is the bass, but that's because of Jaco Pastorius. I read that she was on the road when she wrote this and someone said her rambling vocals made sense with that in mind, but honestly none of the melody was very interesting to me. There really wasn't much dynamics happening with the instrumentals making this album just feel boring in general

Kind of have mixed feeling about this album. It has some cool melancholy vibes and is consistent throughout the piece, but I feel like every track has an interesting idea that they don't quite utilize to it full potential. Nothing stands out and as a result this album is pretty boring. It worth one listen, but I don't think I will ever voluntarily listen to this album again

Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd is one of the greats. Wish you were here is one Pink Floyd's most popular songs, but I feel the rest of the album gets overshadows by other greats like Dark Side, Wall, Meddle, and Animals. Overall there is some solid Prog rock in this album with shine on you crazy diamond and some new territory for pink flyod making a simple acoustic song with with wish you were here, but tracks like Welcome to the Machine and Have a cigar were weak in my opinion.

This album was better than expected. It's pretty solid and a good rocking time. The album carries a consistent vibe, but none of the songs really stand out to me. This is album is a strange one. In one sense it is neat for exploring noise, but at the same time the album kinda sucks. It's mostly just banging noises and german men screaming. There are some tracks with a distinct rhythm, but practically no melody. If Jerry Garcia can say that rap isn't music because of a lack of melody then I feel he would say the same about this. Also I'm pretty sure listening to this album is what made Kanye West decide that he liked hitler

Don't Come Home A Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind)
Loretta Lynn
This was a fun album. I might be too generous since it is the first country album from this list, but the songs were fun and even humorous at times. I will say the constant theme of infidelity got a little stale for me. I have to give props for the story that plays out through the album, but looking at the point of view of the singer she was kind of annoying. Like because he heated on me I'm just gonna cheat on him and then upset when he leaves me. Kind of a face palm moment for me.

Pretty standard blues album. It's good, but doesn't really stand out. That is the biggest obstacle with the blue genre it that its been done so many times that it can sound pretty generic even for medduy waters in 1977. I guess it has its own distinct sound with element of hard blues, but that's really it. I would probably only listen to this once

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
This album is actually kinda dope. I get the sense that in the production of this record Neil Young kept it raw. It sounds like there is one rhythm, lead, bass, and drums. There are multiple vocals, but this album gives me a vibe that it is meant to sound like a real band and I think he accomplished that. It bold to only put the rhythm guitar in one head phone like wise with the lead, but listening to this with headphones I actually liked the mix of this album. As for songwriting goes, this is not as good as the songs on Harvest, but they are pretty good folk rock tracks that jam pretty well.

Pretty solid honestly. I'm kinda going back and forth with rating this a 3 or 4. On the one hand I like that the mood of the album is consistent and I think that is a mark of an artist knowing how to craft an album as a unified piece of work. There are no songs seem like they shouldn't be on the album. My problem I come back to though is that I didn't fall in love with any songs. Maybe if I listened to more of it I would get more hooked, but I don't know if this is an album I would come back to.

A real connoisseur would probably know how to analyze and articulate the perfect review for this album to explain why it is a 5/5. But I am not, so all I can say is this album is dope and I love the way the album is constructed to have 4 parts and each with its own theme. I know Coltrane is one of Jazz greatest legends, but I probably won't listen to this again in the near term.

The Yes Album
Yes
Obligatory 5, Yes is one of my favorite bands and I was probably listening to them nearly every day during my senior year of highschool. This was first album Yes would release in a string of album releases that are all arguably 5/5's. The elements for Yes came together with this album. Steve Howe was brought on for guitar and was able to write some of the most interesting guitar riffs and chords. Chris Squire with the fat bass tone, Jon Anderson with his elf like vocals and lyrics. The percussion and organ from Bill Bruford and Tony Kaye. All of it created a unique and original sound in an era where the popular bands were just doing blues and turning up the distortion and screaming into the mic

My goodness this took me so many days to get through. Any album that I can't finish in one listen automatically gets below a 4. With that said, this album is pretty good. The concept of a duo releasing solo albums together is neat. The better one is definitly The Love Below. Andre 3000 might actually be a musical genius intersecting jazz, funk, and hip hop. I was truly blown away with many of his tracks, but I didn't care for his lyrical content. There was some anti-God and dirty humor, but I can respect the fact that he blends humor with serious tones and amazing music.

Pretty decent. This is my first John Lee Hooker album which is probably not the best introduction to his music considering this is a collaboration album, but I don't hate the idea of having an album with different collaborations and especially since he was about 79, I think this project makes sense for someone like him at that point in his career. Thematically it still had some artistic beauty to it wit that last three songs being just him and it his way of showing his own style in an album full of other people's styles

Honestly pretty solid album! The album has a consistent mood and the tracks are fun and groovy. They don't overdo the songs resulting in an album length that can easily be listened to in one sitting. One of the reviews that gave this a 1 said, "This is the sound of a suburban dad in socks and sandals" and I think that is the best part of the album. The global review is probably correct in giving this a 3.42 I don't know if the songs are particularly meaningful for me, but if they are for someone else then awesome!
