Van HalenThis album was my junior high school anthem.
This album was my junior high school anthem.
It's funny this is the first album I've been presented with because it's one of my favorites.
Every song on this album is great.
The great grandfather of gangster rap. These lyrics put a spotlight on the reality of urban street violence and the dangers of living while black.
I danced and sang along to this album as a young boy at my aunt Terri's apartment. I think I was my first real love for any particular type of music. It seemed edgy and rebellious.
I like Rod and this is a solid easy listen but it doesn't move me very often.
The funk. The Motown. Such a great album to just vibe to.
Grungy garage rock fused with angry punk. Awesome album.
This is a solid representation of Elvis's range but this album doesn't included any of his truly great and most iconic songs. I've always loved his car very of Feaver, however.
I didn't value Rush as a young person but as I got older it hit me just how amazingly talented this band is. This is some of the best rock I've ever listened to.
I can see it's contribution to music and I can listen and it's enjoyable but it doesn't move me.
Babies were made is what I'm saying.
When I was a young man and first heard "War" I didn't know what I was listening to and even being educated by but I knew I loved it. As an older man, I still find meaning in these songs that are delivered with such devotion and emotion. Every song feels like a live version. It's just a damn great album.

This entire album is a cry for help. It's so very tragic. She was an amazing vocalist. This album is on another level.
There's so much going on here it's hard to distill it down to a shot review but have never heard of Roxy Music before, I was impressed by how much thought and presumably trial and error went into this album. I hear other favorites in this including Bowie and Talking Heads but this remains it's own. This is a great listen.
For PJ Harvey this is a solid 5 but not quite in the same level as some of the 5-star albums I listened to. This album requires attention. You have to listen to the melodies and focus on the lyrics to get the point. It's a beautiful album and, while the music is not at all similar, I love Harvey's rambling melodies and anti-structure that reminds me of Joni Mitchell.
There's a hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes. The sense of humor and sarcasm runs deep in these songs. John Prine was a master storyteller, which I miss in today's country music. Excellent album all around.
I'm not a fan of horror rock but I was pleasantly surprised by this album. I've listened to Cooper's main jams many times over the years but never an entire album. With the exception of a couple of songs, this entire work is well done.
Apparently Springsteen is very polarizing, which baffles me. This album was my first experience with him, I was 14. I like his rough, shouty vocals and the heartland rock anthems. Born to Run is probably my favorite but this is a solid second. 4.5/5.
Meh. At first I was like okay maybe this could be interesting and then I was like okay well it's just this. I completely understand why it's on this list it's just not my thing.

My second favorite RHCP album.
