Out of Step
Minor ThreatBalls to the wall hardcore punk. Pure blast of energy, anger, intensity, with awesomely fast + heavy guitars/bass/drums. Will save this one for those days I need it.

A go-to bonfire/camping album
Love James Brown, this is a cool slice of history but not great listening.
Some great playing from Chic members, a little heavy on the disco but will come back to it.
Some classics, hidden gems and a little filler
Never listened to the whole album before, it's fantastic. My favorite Doors album for sure, getting back to their roots.
Awesome album, some killer studio effects for 1977, a few trippy instrumentals (The Whale is a standout), and some great hits also.
A classic, one of the best and most influential hip hop albums ever.

Loved this album when it came out, loved the prompt to revisit it 10 years later. Adding it back in the rotation. British art pop with some crazy cool sounds.
First experience with full Nick Cave & Bad Seeds album. Fun dark romp, a few standout tracks but hoping for a little more on the next one
Hadn't heard this one before, great stuff. Nice vocals, tight rhythm, lil bit funky. 4 (will definitely listen again)
Couldn't bring myself to stream it because Ryan Adams is a POS... That said, I loved this album back in college when it came out, was on super heavy rotation so I've heard it enough to know my rating. I'm trying to keep these ratings focused on the specific album only, not the person... so it's a 5 (all-time classic).
I guess I get why this was included, it was massive when it came out and is solid, but really hasn't aged well as a "classic album." The cheesy gun sound FX sprinkled throughout don't help. Definitely some great tracks like "P.I.M.P" "Many Men" and "21 Questions," but most of the songs follow a similar "minor scale synth riff" format over the entire track, so it all starts to blend together over the 70+ minutes. There are just soooo many better hip hop talents, minds, and albums that are more deserving. Eminem guesting on some tracks is cool, though the side by side comparison really highlights the deficiencies in 50 Cent's slurred, off-the-beat flow style. 3 (will probably listen again)
Already a Massive Attack fan, had mostly listened to their newer stuff-- this one is so good, and prompted me to learn a little more about their history. Unsurprisingly started from club DJs and scoring movies. Fantastic chill sexy vibe. 4 - Will definitely listen again
Super solid disco funk album, will never tire of listening to Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers interplay and insanely locked-in rhythm. "Savior Faire" is a fave. 4 - Will definitely listen again
A beautiful, devastating album about the end of love. Bjork makes super interesting music in a style that is unmistakably hers. This one came up just short of a 5, maybe if I heard it in a different time of my life the mood of the album would more strongly resonate with me. 4 - Will definitely listen again
Hell yeah, now we're cookin. First time listening to this full album. I'm absolutely blown away by the bass playing of Tommy Cogbill. On my first listen I pretty much spent the entire 30 minutes reading more about him. Definitely an unsung hero of soul bass history, right up there with Duck and Jamerson. Had so much fun listening to this one. 5 - All-time classic
I get what this album is going for, but it isn't executed very well and comes off as too on-the-nose and pretentious. I like some of the instrumentals, makes some decent background music, but I keep getting pulled out by occasional cringe-inducing lyrics and vocals. Kind of a shame because it feels like this album COULD have been pretty great. 2 - Will probably not listen again
A great Americana album. Lucinda Williams' vocals are certainly distinct and not for everyone, but I dig it. She seems cool AF. Someone else compared her to the singer from Eels, agree 100%. Great songwriting throughout. Can get a little boring/repetitive, but that's an Americana thing more than a LW thing. 4 - Will definitely listen again
Hard to come up with the words to adequately praise this album. Whew. It's like a beautiful gut-punch. His vocals are so sonically pleasing and fit the music/lyrics perfectly. The production is surprisingly complex for such a stripped down sound. I've spent more time with XO but this one is just as good if not better. Credit to Tessa for tuning me into him back in the day. His death hit her & some of our friends harder than me, but spurred me to dive in and really fall in love with his music. 5 - All-time classic
I personally love this album, spin it all the time around the house. Great slide guitar, vocals, cool country feel. If I was trying to be totally objective I'd say a 4, but this is a fave for me so it's a 5 - All-time classic
I always forget that I like The Who. They were just as creative as the Kinks, a legendary "hard rock" live band, and this is a great live album. Some surprisingly kickass extended jams. John Entwistle's bass playing is fantastic... I need to spend more time listening to him and how he fills up his space in a trio, ie makes his bass sound like a bass + another guitar :) I was all set to rate this a 4 for most of the listen but the 2 closing songs are just sooo good and sold me on why people call this the best live album of all time. 5 - All-time classic
Never heard any of The Verve's music aside from the obvious 90's superhit I've heard a thousand times. I'm impressed. Wall of sound, a little psychedelic, some early Radiohead vibes. Occasionally dips into that distinct mid-90's British alt-rock (ie Oasis) flavor which is not my favorite. Still I'm glad I actually listened to their music outside of Bittersweet Symphony. (The last song is fun) 3 - Will probably listen again
I liked the Hot Chip's The Warning a lot but hadn't listened to this one. Really great first half, pretty good second half. Interesting synthy sounds and production throughout. Will be adding to the rotation. 4 - Will definitely listen again
Never listened to this whole album, solid Jay-Z. Some great bass on certain tracks. Cool trivia note that it was released on 9/11/2001 4 - Will definitely listen again
