Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Oct 17 2023

Objectively good music that I would never seek out of my own accord.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Oct 18 2023

Ah yes such smooth jams. Point deduction for Scientology. https://youtu.be/ouy54KdNe2c?si=bvscziu0j2rDL97k

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Oct 19 2023

I listened to this while I was cleaning the kitchen and it was perfect background music, tickled the right spots in my ADHD brain to keep me focused. Very cool to see what has and hasn't changed in the genre for the proceeding decades.

Back In Black by AC/DC
Oct 20 2023

Generally a bop if a little repetitive but not so repetitive that I had to wonder why certain tracks are familiar and others are forgettable.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Oct 25 2023

DNF The first track was basically unlistenable and the rest that I heard just made me wish I were listening to a different band? Could be worse.

The Cars by The Cars
Oct 26 2023

This is fine. Another album where it's really clear why the song(s) that I recognize is well-known (RadioShack ad campaign notwithstanding) and the others are mostly forgotten. My rating is definitely colored by the previous THREE I listened to in that I never had to stop because a track was so off-putting. Vanilla new wave is inoffensive easy listening, I'll take it.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Oct 27 2023

I cannot explain why I was so into this album. Not 5 star into it, but into it.

Low-Life by New Order
Oct 28 2023

I definitely listened to this album in its entirety yesterday morning but I could not tell you a single thing about it. 3/5 by default because if it had left a good or a bad impression I'd remember it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Oct 29 2023

4.5 rounding to 5 Just to repeat what I said in discord, I hadn't heard almost any of these recordings but am familiar with most of the songs from campfire jams at music festivals. I don't know if nostalgia is the right word since it triggers recent memories as well as childhood ones, definitely warm fuzzy feelings. As my spouse would say "this is the kind of shit [kcm] would like" XD

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Oct 30 2023

Why are these songs so long??? I'm playing catch-up because I didn't listen yesterday so they feel that much longer that I'm wanting to rush through. This is similar to music I'd like, generally, but it's not grabbing me at all. The elusive one star because it also has these tracks with weird uncomfortable binaural effects.

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Nov 01 2023

Do I have amnesia? Definitely listened to this album, definitely don't remember it at all. My brain is mush.

All Directions by The Temptations
Nov 04 2023

I liked this even better than I expected. Immaculate.

Aha Shake Heartbreak by Kings of Leon
Nov 05 2023

I did not expect to like this album and I did not. I think maybe if a different band were playing the same songs I could get into it?

Play by Moby
Nov 06 2023

Saving grace of this album a) some on the tracks are unobjectionable background jams and b) just a hint of nostalgia.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Nov 21 2023

One of my favorite Joni Mitchell albums

Aja by Steely Dan
Dec 30 2023

My mom loves Steely Dan so this album permeates my childhood memories. I like it a lot more now than I did then, is it just the nostalgia?

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Jan 02 2024

I'm not saying it's a bad album, I'm just saying I could only ever listen to Comfortably Numb again and not feel like I was missing out (and I'm going to pick the dar Williams cover of comfortably numb nine times out of 10). It definitely doesn't help that the only other time I've listened to this album all the way through was while making out with my high school boyfriend so......"listen" is generous.

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Jan 04 2024

This is definitely an album I need to be in a specific mood to enjoy, and I wasn't in that mood but I can appreciate its merits. It was nice to revisit some songs that I don't hear often, I especially love Not the Doctor.

Hotel California by Eagles
Jan 08 2024

I don't know what I thought an Eagles album sounded like but.. It wasn't this? The atmospheric noodling tracks felt very modern.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jan 09 2024

I would never seek out and listen to The Beach Boys of my own accord. Nothing about this album really stuck out as bad, just not my speed.

Jan 10 2024

Overall this is my kind of music though I struggled with the vocals. That mandolin hit just right on the instrumental of There Is Power in a Union.

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
Jan 11 2024

The first track really set me up to dislike this one. Most of the tracks dragged, I didn't hate Hero of the War but it was a slog otherwise.

Berlin by Lou Reed
