Cosmo's Factory
Creedence Clearwater Revival
we rate based on vibes i can't focus on the words
track 1: a long bouncy sandwich where the meat is a solid jam 8/10
track 2: can't go wrong with the classic format. blues i think? 6.5/10
track 3: it may be the track name but this do be sounding like a road trip song. 7/10
track 4: we PRANCING with this one 7/10
track 5: very smooth bridge after the first chorus, love me that acoustic 7.5/10
track 6: lovely harmonica and a different guitar in each ear 8/10
track 7: OH I RECOGNIZE THIS ONE 8.5/10
track 8: short and sweet 7/10
track 9: short and sweet x2 combo 7/10
track 10: another long track and good to do tasks to 7.5/10
track 11: couldn't have picked a better track from the album to be the final one, good fade out 6.5/10
overall 7.3/10, not the kind of music i usually listen to nor something i'd go out of my way to listen to again but i wouldn't change the station if any of these came on the radio

Court And Spark
Joni Mitchell
back at it again with vibe-based rating
track 1, Court and Spark: solid piano feel, 7.5/10
track 2, Help Me: i wonder if bill wurtz took inspiration from this and other songs of this genre because the acoustic guitar + soft electric guitar, AND THE WOODWIND??? fantastic. genuine 10/10
track 3, Free Man in Paris: okay i had to listen to this one back again to hear it but the singer has a similar accent to stan rogers, to my ears. actually able to parse the lyrics on this one and the vibe is of finally being free of churning content out and being bogged down by trying to make successes. 8/10
track 4, People's Parties: there might be a lot of wildly different people at this party but we're all here at the same party. i'm here in the corner not really feeling it but we're all here. at this same party. let's have a good time. 7/10
track 5, The Same Situation: OH AND THE PREVIOUS TRACK LEADS IN let's goooo. the combo of woodwind and strings got me a little head empty on this one but it's a good time so 7/10
track 6, Car on a Hill: we getting into the SAX now and oh it all comes together so well. 8.5/10
track 7, Down to You: everything really do be coming and going, all of the time. we are in a constant state of impermanence and it all comes down to you. what will you do? 7/10
track 8, Just Like This Train: the twang on the guitar is somehow super evocative of taking a train ride, staring out the window and watching the view go by. 7.5/10
track 9, Raised on Robbery: and we're back with the saxophone, into something feelin kinda blues-y! 7/10
track 10, Trouble Child: mmm not fitting in with peers n' not fitting in with what authority tells you to do and so people try to fit you into that box and corrall your trouble. let it free. 7.5/10
track 11, Twisted: another good transition flow! picking up from that box we got fit and into a chair to get analyzed. the pov of the person/character who is singing cannot possibly be neurotypical and i am so here for it. 9/10
this album makes me INCREDIBLY introspective while softly jamming out, and i could follow nearly all the lyrics the whole time (uncommon for me). overall 7.8/10 this album slaps.

Songs For Swingin' Lovers!
Frank Sinatra
first artist whose name i recognize (but honestly such a big name that who wouldn't). based on the album art that this site provides i'm listening to the 1956 version, not the 1998 remaster, and all the vinyl sounds that comes with the digitalization
track 1, You Make Me Feel So Young
track 2: It Happened In Monterey
track 3: You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me
it was at this point i realized i'd hard zoned out and did not notice the track switching other than the bpm of the song changing, these really all sound the same to me (most songs i hear from around this time period do) so for this album i'm dropping the by-track commentary and going by blocks when thoughts come to me
track 4, You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me
track 5, Too Marvelous For Words
track 6: Old Devil Moon
none of these songs on this album are BAD. by all rights they're perfectly enjoyable. it's just singing over a medium-slow older jazzish orchestration and i've already missed a song while i was typing this,
track 7: Pennies From Heaven
track 8: Love Is Here To Stay
sinatra sings a lot about love in this album, or loving someone, or being physical with them, etc. maybe this album is just all love songs! maybe he was singing about someone, or someones, that he loved.
SIDE 2
track 9: I've Got You Under My Skin
this one's more upbeat at least, the past few have been SUPER slow and man if a song is too slow it just kinda makes my skin itch. really funny for this track name too
okay yeah the album is literally called "songs for swinging lovers" i don't know what i expected when i described these songs as love songs ahahaha
track 10: I Thought About You
i can't imagine listening to these songs in any other context than slow dancing with your significant other. swaying gently in the living room holding them gently while little baby uh. hold on i've gotta google something
track 11: We'll Be Together Again
okay the most popular baby names of the 1950s were james, michael, and robert. so yeah, swaying gently while little baby jimmy was in the other room sleeping sound in his crib, not knowing that his parents were getting up to the naughty business of-
track 12: Makin' Whoopee
well not THAT, certainly. this song goes from nervousness before a wedding to the husband doing household chores and prepping for a child. how is this a song for swinging lovers? maybe if they were rocking gently in bed lmao
it's okay, frank, you just just call it sex.
track 13: Swingin' Down The Lane
i'm actually kind of feeling this one, i like the light bells and how they make me think of a starry sky. the light pollution had to have been so much lower when this album came out, back when taking your date to the top of a cliff to sit on the hood of your car and stargaze was actually feasible while you lived within an hour of a major city. putting your hand down just an inch too close to theirs so your pinkies cross, stealing a glance at each other, and enjoying the evening
track 14: Anything Goes
oh i actually recognize this one, or maybe i've heard a cover of it before. imagine how different things are now than they were in the 50s, geez. "a glimpse of a stock was shocking but now anything goes" and we've got short-shorts and low-cut tops and the like. the song does close with somewhat of an embrace of the phrase "anything goes", accepting things are different (and better?) than they used to be
track 15: How About You
new york in june is HOT, frank. it's SO hot. i'm melting thinking about it.
i suppose when the backing tracks are all very same-y, all that's left to talk about are the words (and the vibes, but that's 24/7 here). i couldn't say for sure whether mr. sinatra chose everything he sung about, that's not the wikipedia deep dive i'd like to have tonight, but i'd say at least 75% of this album is pretty good to slow-dance to. not sure how easy it is to skip tracks on a vinyl.
i came out of this album feeling better than i did going into it, though, so that's points in its favor. i'd say somewhere between a 5 and a 6 out of 10.

I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You
Aretha Franklin
we're going for the 1967 release, not the 1995 reissue which has three "bonus" tracks (stereo versions of three other songs on the album)
track 1, Respect: absolute classic of a song 10/10 no notes
track 2, Drown in My Own Tears: extremely solid blues track. on the slow side for my liking but everything is done right, 7/10
track 3: I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You): titular song, excellent loud saxophone. 7/10
track 4, Soul Serenade: compared to the prior track, sounds somewhat samey to me, but that doesn't make either track any worse. 7/10
track 5, Don't Let Me Lose This Dream: jazzy smooth elevator music but also entirely listenable on its own, 8/10
track 6, Baby, Baby, Baby: i'm usually not a big fan of songs this close to a waltz (6/8 instead of 3/4, but slow enough to nearly be there) but this is really solid! 7.5/10
SIDE 2
track 7, Dr. Feelgood: oh the HORNS. OH these horns. once again i am finding myself jamming to a slow song. have all the slow songs i've heard before just not been my style? 7.5/10
track 8, Good Times: nothing particularly jumped out at me on this one, solid 6.5/10
track 9, Do Right Woman, Do Right Man: same as above to be honest 6.5/10
track 10, Save Me: oh i immediately feel more energy in this one. might be the backing guitar. 8/10
track 11, A Change Is Gonna Come: another slower song, still good. 6.5/10
overall: 7.4/10 -> 4/5. nothing in particular to talk about, just good ol' music here.

Neon Bible
Arcade Fire
you know, i've noticed all these albums have had 11 tracks so far. i wonder if that's some kind of standard for this site or if it's just very common. first album i've gotten from after the year 2000 so we're in for a very different vibe with this one
track 1, Black Mirror: oh i can all but feel the discontentment in this one. very nice 7/10
track 2, Keep the Car Running: you gotta be ready to go at a moment's notice. 8/10
track 3, Neon Bible: quite chill vibes, 7.5/10
track 4, Intervention: been working for the church while your life falls apart. augh. 8.5/10
track 5, Black Wave/Bad Vibrations: it's funny because the vibes are AMAZING on this one. dark, but good. 8/10
track 6, Ocean of Noise: it's not conventionally ocean-y but the instrumentation on this one does give me the feeling of floating on an ocean, the last of the light disappearing over the horizon and tipping into night. 7.5/10
track 7, The Well and the Lighthouse: a good change in feeling midway through, from the well to the lighthouse. 8/10
track 8, (Antichrist Television Blues): i can't parse the lyrics but the feeling hits me REALLY hard. would actually listen to this one again 9.5/10
track 9, Windowsill: another banger with very nearly corporeal discontent, 8/10
track 10, No Cars Go: is that ACCORDION? excellent. 10/10
track 11, My Body Is a Cage: title is already a hard mood. set my spirit free. 9/10
overall 8.3/10 -> 4/5, but i'm pushing that up to a 5/5. take the time to feel out this album, it's worth it

Music From Big Pink
The Band
this is the 1968 release with 11 tracks, not the 2000 reissue nor the 2018 anniversary edition
track 1, Tears of Rage: not sure if it was a mixing issue with this digitalization of the track but the volume of a couple of the instruments was louder than the rest. slow and soulful with more tears than rage, not my style but a decent 5.5/10
track 2, To Kingdom Come: yep, definitely something to do with the digitization. maybe splitting it from mono to stereo just made some of the instruments quieter overall? in any case, this track has more cheerful(?) energy to it despite the title being about dying (and going To Kingdom Come). 7/10
track 3, In a Station: well, i certainly feel as bored by this one as much as being in a train station. 5/10
track 4, Caledonia Mission: not a lot of difference to me from the song prior, 5/10
track 5, The Weight: better vibes, but only by a bit. 6.5/10
track 6, We Can Talk: not super distinct from the prior track, 7/10 with the added half point for milking a cow???
track 7, Long Black Veil: hah, he can't admit to not murdering someone because he boned his bff's wife. get adultered, idiot. 7/10
track 8, Chest Fever: this feels like nothing, but it's at least an upbeat nothing! 6.5/10
track 9, Lonesome Suzie: lonesome vibes are accomplished by this song, but it's too slow for me to appreciate them. had to skip forward a little to be able to finish the track, so subtracting half a point - 4.5/10
track 10, This Wheel's on Fire: solid song but nothing too stand-out for me. 6/10
track 11, I Shall Be Released: "i shall be released" - me when i finish this album lmao. while it's another slow song, i do appreciate the piano + acoustic guitar backing. 6/10
overall: 6/10 -> 3/5, but my personal enjoyment of this album was low enough that i'm bumping it to 2/5.

The Number Of The Beast
Iron Maiden
this may be the first album i've recognized, and also know there's a song on here i've heard before. that is to say, this is gonna be a great time. i'll be talking about the 1982 version (original studio recording), not the 1995 reissue, nor the 1998 remaster, nor the 2015 remaster, nor the 2022 anniversary release. expect vibes, ye who enter here.
track 1, Invaders: starting off with strong and fast energy, 8.5/10
track 2, Children of the Damned: a little repetitive, but still good. 7/10
track 3, The Prisoner: the guitar-only section goes on a little long for my tastes but still a good song. 7.5/10
track 4, 22 Acacia Avenue: the faster and slower sections help to avoid there being any particular part of the song that's too long, 8/10
SIDE TWO
track 5, The Number of the Beast: aw yeah, here it is, and the titular track as well! i remember playing this song countless times in Guitar Hero and it's still good. 10/10
track 6, Run to the Hills: another great song i recognize, i believe this one was also in guitar hero. holds up amazingly. 9.5/10
track 7, Gangland: nice and fast the whole time, nothing really to say. 8/10
track 8, Hallowed Be Thy Name: also fast, good energy, 8/10
overall: 8.3/10 -> 4/5
while most of the album isn't particularly memorable to me, all of these songs are good or better. definitely worth the listen, and especially for Number of the Beast and Run to the Hills

OK Computer
Radiohead
if you asked me on the spot to categorize radiohead into a genre i couldn't actually tell you what music they play. modern rock, maybe, kinda? in any case, second consecutive album i recognize.
track 1, Airbag: the guitar starting at 2m30s in got me transfixed 8/10
track 2, Paranoid Android: the title makes me think of marvin from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the vibe throughout could be mapped to that of the shown life of marvin from said work. regardless, solid 8.5/10
track 3, Subterranean Homesick Alien: mm, the REVERB on that guitar. good vibes here. 8/10
track 4, Exit Music (For A Film): this could absolutely be the ending music for a movie. 8/10
track 5, Let Down: i could give you a paragraph and a half about how people have been let down by society but uh. yeah just put this song on loop and stare at your ceiling for half an hour. 7.5/10
track 6, Karma Police: a lot of this album seems pretty melancholy, good vibes. 7/10
track 7, Fitter Happier: "more productive. comfortable." while it fits into the feeling that the album gives, it's not a song, so it will be exlcuded from the overall numeric rating
track 8, Electioneering: this album came out in 1997 how are all of the songs still applicable to what's going on 25 years later. augh. good guitar in this one though 9/10
track 9, Climbing Up the Walls: it might be obvious by now but i'm not quite familiar with this genre enough to provide good insight into the components of these songs - instrumentation, meter, and especially the lyrics (i have terrible audio processing delay which is why all of these reviews are based on vibes and not lyrical intent), but even still i can feel the angst dripping off of these, and especially this one. i too feel like climbing up the walls. 8/10
track 10, No Surprises: the bells (glockenspiel?) add more than i thought they would to the overall feel. 8/10
track 11, Lucky: i came across a danny phantom fancomic while listening to the album, more specifically this song. reminded me of a good word to describe a lot of these songs. haunting. 9/10
track 12, The Tourist: "slow down." uplifting, if minorly, somewhat raising the listener back up out of the dive made into the album, complete with ding at the end. 8/10
overall: 8/10 -> 4/5. i imagine that if i looked up the album, there would be something on how its a commentary about life, and all of the ways people feel stuck or trapped. i welcome listeners (and readers, if you find yourself the type of person to read these reviews) to do that research if you find yourself yearning for it.

Screamadelica
Primal Scream
i have NEVER heard of this band before but i'm already kinda interested. let's see
track 1, Movin on Up: i feel like the song would have been better without the piano, but still good. 6.5/10
track 2, Slip Inside This House: i couldn't put a reason to why but the beginning of this track makes me think of Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. in any case, the body of this song really puts the "-delica" in Screamadelica. 9/10
track 3, Don't Fight It, Feel It: well. i'm definitely Feeling It, whatever It may be. 7/10
track 4, Higher Than the Sun (Single Mix): oh the It was drugs. okay gotcha we're vibin 7/10
track 5, Inner Flight: is every song title going to be a thinly veiled drugs reference? because i'm okay if that's the case it's just really funny. 6/10
track 6, Come Together: i can only assume it is at this point that the drugs taken at the start of the album have kicked in, because i could easily see myself with a thousand-yard stare just listening to this track. 7/10
track 7, Loaded: "we wanna be loaded and have fun" extremely relatable, 7/10
track 8, Damaged: i'm sure everyone's familiar with the stages of being high - "this edible ain't anything", "oh i'm going to the moon", "let's have a great time", and now we're at "time to get extremely emotional about my life". i prefer to skip past that phase directly into "family guy unconscious pose" but there's something to be said for the introspection. 7/10
track 9, I'm Comin' Down: the title of this song is presented without comment. 8/10
track 10, Higher Than the Sun (A Dub Symphony in Two Parts): the truly funniest thing might be that when typing the song title, i wrote "Sub" instead of "Dub", which goes to show my preference in anime. i had to go back to track 4 and compare that one and this one, and while there is notable difference between the two, i don't think i could put words to how. you're just gonna have to trust me on this one (or don't, i'm not your dad) 7/10
track 11: Shine Like Stars: love that accordion! a nice and calm vibe to end off the album with. 9/10
overall: 7.3/10 -> 3.51/5 and that's enough to round it up to a 4/5 for me babey! absolutely not the kind of thing i'd go out of my way to listen to but definitely worth a listen.

Rattlesnakes
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
this will be of the 1984 release, not the 1985 bonus edition nor the 2004 deluxe edition.
track 1, Perfect Skin
track 2, Speedboat
i have listened to these six seperate times and every time i zone out midway through the first song and come back near the end of the second song. entirely indescribable. 9/10 and 7.5/10 respectively.
track 3, Rattlesnakes: the titular song. the guitar and violin(?) go really well together, good vibes here. 9/10
track 4, Down on Mission Street: honestly, every song so far on this album has been super chill and relaxing. could put this on as background music for anything and have a good time. 8/10
instead of repeating "wow, i zoned out almost the entire song and had a great time just sitting here and taking it in", i'm going to put the following mark: [!]. if you see that symbol, that's what happened to me for that song. that being said,
track 5, Forest Fire: [!] 9/10
track 6, Charlotte Street: [!] 8/10
track 7, 2cv: [!] 8/10
track 8, Four Flights Up: [!] 8/10
track 9, Patience: ironically, the song i've been most present for so far, despite being one of the strongest relaxation-wise. the guitar + strings combo is still here and still going very well. 8.5/10
track 10, Are You Ready to Be Heartbroken?: [!] 8/10
overall: 8.3/10 -> 4/5. i'm a little disappointed i couldn't offer better commentary about these, because wow were they good to listen to. might add this to a background music playlist.

Hail To the Thief
Radiohead
no alternate releases on this one! how're we feeling tonight, radiohead?
track 1, 2 + 2 = 5: yeah same here honestly. we start off with guitar in only the right ear, which i immediately do not like. (around 1:20 the audio balances out) after that, solid song no complaints 7/10
track 2, Sit Down Stand Up: ooh, kinda haunting??? the nearly-drumstep drum fill starting at 3 minutes in really captures my attention, 7.5/10
track 3, Sail to the Moon: much slower, a little somber. 8/10
track 4, Backdrifts: oh the VWORPS you're gonna have to trust me on this one take a listen. 9/10
track 5, Go to Sleep: wait a minute, this isn't morgan freeman narrating the book "go the f**k to sleep"! haha, anyway, this song slaps, 8/10
track 6, Where I End and You Begin: mm. this one's ETHEREAL. 8/10
track 7, We Suck Young Blood: okay we need everyone in the studio to clap into the mic on beat seven. ready? CLAP. great work everyone you can all go home now. this one's also very somber/ethereal, 7 (beats)/10
track 8, The Gloaming: ethereal x3 combo, one more and we've won the game of connect four. i like the arpeggiation of the synth in the background but not enough to rate this one higher, another 7/10
track 9, There There: while we did not hit the four-in-a-row, this song brings pretty good energy. 8/10
track 10, I Will: despite the game Hades coming out some seventeen years after this album, i am getting very strong Orpheus vibes from this song. very good. 9/10
track 11, A Punchup at a Wedding: OH and the last track transitions in smoothly let's goooooo. that bass and and piano with a simple backbeat is just so good. can't give this any lower than a 9.5/10
track 12, Myxomatosis: and we start off CRUNCHY i'm such a fan of this sawtooth-sounding synth. 9/10
track 13, Scatterbrain: you know, i actually don't mind the guitar only being in one ear for this one. 8/10
track 14, A Wolf at the Door: one final slower/somber track to finish off. 7.5/10 not a lot to say
overall: 8/10 -> 4/5, once again radiohead not being something i'd go out of my way to listen to but being well worth the time spent to listen

Marquee Moon
Television
got distracted and accidentally took a 100-album-long (i think that's twenty weeks??? that's as many as two tens, and that's terrible) break from listening. no matter, life goes on.
this will be the original 1977 release with 8 tracks, rather than the 2003 re-release containing five bonus tracks
track 1, See No Evil: has the feel of a roadtrip montage and driving on a rocky dirt road. two people wearing white tank tops staring at a map, one of them turns the map upside down to be rightside up. they bought the wrong flavor of gatorade. typical road trip. 7/10
track 2, Venus: the tone quality on the guitar is a hair too close to what i would call The Beatles' sound for me to be able to enjoy the song, but there's nothing bad about this. 6/10
track 3, Friction: road trip part two! pretend there were thirty full seconds of silence staring at the exterior door of a public restroom at a rest stop, then back in the car and onto the highway. sunglasses firmly on their faces because there isn't a cloud in the sky. they still didn't buy the right flavor of gatorade, but the taste is growing on them. 6.5/10
track 4, Marquee Moon: titular track! it seems this is the 2003 version, with a 10:38 duration rather than 9:58. i can say with certainty that this is a great track to dissociate to, with a constant heartbeat on guitar pulsing for most of the song. solid 6.5/10
SIDE TWO
track 5, Elevation: maybe it's just Television's general sound or vibe, but this song sounds kind of same-y, although i could not tell you what it sounds the same as. 6/10
you know, maybe it stems from how music is most commonly listened to these days, where we do not listen to one entire album from front to back in one sitting, and instead listen to several songs from several artists across several releases, albums or singles. perhaps it is this that makes it difficult to not fall into passive listening over active listening for a song. that or maybe the adhd. where were we? oh, yes,
track 6, Guiding Light: this is a very "walking home alone after being turned down after asking someone on a date" feeling, carrying a drooping medium-sized bouquet. you kick a puddle under the streetlight. it's not raining tonight, but maybe it did a day or two ago. halfway home you ditch the flowers in a trash bin, and pick your head up.
the lamp post in your front yard draws you home. 7/10
track 7, Prove It: we're back on the road trip, babey! the sun is low in the sky, and we're tumbling along this same dusty highway. must be close to our destination now. around sunset we pull into a motel parking lot and check in (they had one room left) and collapse on the singular bed. 7/10
track 8, Tom Curtain: this is "what if you didn't get your emotions out on the walk home from Guiding Light" and now you're at home, alternating between sobbing into a pillow and staring dead-eyed into a mirror while taking glugs from a bottle of alcohol you're definitely not supposed to have. around four minutes in you throw the empty bottle at the wall across from you and just cry yourself to sleep. 7/10
overall: 6.6/10 -> 3/5. i could not tell you what feeling the artists were going for with this album (if you thought i was able to remember a single lyric from any of these songs you're kidding the both of us, reader), but there were distinct feelings happening nonetheless, and art is nothing if not subjective.

Born To Run
Bruce Springsteen
if you told me the name bruce springsteen, i could tell you with confidence that that is a musician, and approximately nothing farther than that. i know he's a *good* musician, so this album should be at least 50% bangers. this is the 1975 release.
track 1, Thunder Road: "i've got this guitar and i learned how to make it talk" is CORRECT okay i think i understand why this guy's famous. i have no notes this is great. 10/10
track 2, Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out: mmm, that SAXOPHONE. i'm not as big a fan of the piano in this one, but still good. 7/10
track 3, Night: the descending piano/bells as part of the bridge midway through this song is just. SO good. this is a 9/10
track 4, Backstreets: it is about this point in the album that i think to myself, this music is much brighter than another album i listened to / rated recently, and i don't mean brighter in terms of instrument choice, but it is dynamic in a way that results in the other album feeling very flat. (gotta say, mr. springsteen really tears his throat out on this one) 8/10
track 5, Born to Run: titular song! it could be that every song so far has been quite good, but i'm not getting the same "this is the best song" that others seem to feel about it. still quite good, though. 8/10
track 6, She's the One: this one has quite a good pulse on it! 7/10
track 7, Meeting Across the River: this feels like looking out over a new york skyline with a sunset-orange sky, with the trumpet. could very easily be the credits sequence to an emotional, passionate movie. 8/10
track 8, Jungleland: okay THIS is the song that plays over the movie credits, but they're driving away from the camera, and we pan up to the sky for the first minute or so of credits, then cut back to the car for some three-line back-and-forth that makes a joke come full circle. fade to black, remainder of the credits. 9/10
overall: 8.25/10 -> 4/5. they weren't kidding, this Album really does You Must Hear Before You Die.

Can
seems to be only the 1973 release of this album, but i have NEVER heard of this band before. *can* they live up to the hype? (haha)
track 1, future days: starting off with the titular song, works for me. the start to this is very... wet? yeah, wet. i enjoy the percussive rhythm that starts about 90 seconds in, although the first three minutes is mostly nature sounds - you could very easily start exactly three minutes in and lose nothing important. a very casual listen! 4.5/10
track 2, spray: also extremely low-engagement (in a good way), a nice track to have on in the background while you're paying attention to something else. 5/10
track 3, moonshake: much more upbeat (as in, the beat is faster) in comparison to the prior two. it seems they were throwing in a lot of perhaps underused sounds into this album, as a lot of the random sounds feel like they are here just to fill a space. 5/10
track 4, bel air: if the first three songs of this album were roughly 21 minutes of mostly the same, you can bet that this is 20 more minutes of decent background music. 5/10
overall: 4.9/10 -> 2/5, this album is generally inoffensive but like. why though. i feel like i just wasted 40 minutes of my life by listening to this but at least i was doing something else while i did

You're Living All Over Me
Dinosaur Jr.
going with the 1987 version release, excluding bonus tracks released later. (since this was written while extremely behind on "days", the format is changing to an overall commentary rather than individual thoughts on each song.
tracklist:
1) Little Fury Things
2) Kracked
3) SludgeFeast
4) The Lung
5) Raisans
6) Tarpit
7) In a Jar
8) Lose
9) Poledo
if you'd told me that tracks 1-3 were playable in a Guitar Hero game, i would not have been surprised in the slightest. this somewhat speaks to the quality of the recording, but also the indie-alternate-grunge-noise vibe that's going on, that we're listening to this be performed live in an abandoned warehouse. track 4 is a bit less raw noise, and is a little more melodic - not lighter, but seems a little bit floatier. feels like the guitar quality doing that.
1) 7/10
2) 7/10
3) 7/10
4) 6.5/10
oh, man. Raisans, track 5, now this is some after-school cartoon montage-of-delinquents-causing-mayhem background music. complete with taking shelter under an overpass during a surprise rainstorm!
5) 8.5/10
leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeess fond of the loudness of Tarpit.
6) 4/10
we're back in that montage! kind of gives me the vibes of this one gave from the late 2000s early 2010s, it was about being a theme park manager. kind of like roller coaster tycoon, but it was 3rd person over the shoulder of a specific person? i'm pretty sure Buddy Holly by Weezer was part of the in-game background music. please somehow reach out to me if you know what i'm talking about.
7) 9/10
8) 7/10
very different vibe at the end here. feels like acoustic noise where the rest of the album is electric noise. the left ear guitar sounds a hair out of tune? it adds to the vibe. OH and then it hard cuts at 1:40 in, that's loud, don't like that. the rest of Poledo is just noise, i had to skip through it a bit to make sure. genuinely unlistenable to me.
9) 1/10
overall: 6.33/10 -> 3/5, solid listening experience outside of the last track
