Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers

Yeah. This speaks for itself. Yep. Fucking Bob Marley man. The feeling that Exodus injects into your veins is absolutely irreplaceable. The wailers live and breathe reggae, truly professionals in this art. There is no need to try to explain to someone why reggae is addicting when you can just play them some Bob. If you aren't high enough just hearing these songs, please get stoned and listen again. You will understand this album in the way it is meant to be felt. Insane that with how amazing this album is, there are others of his in contention for the best. Personal Favorites: Natural Mystic, Guiltiness, Jamming, Waiting in Vain, Three Little Birds, One Love / People Get Ready - Jamming, Waiting in Vain, Three Little Birds, and One Love are 4 of my all-time favorite songs EVER

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

Absolutely amazing. Classic. Emotion throughout every song. Stories are written through the music itself, the lyrics are just another layer to form perfection. Production is out of this world. One of the craziest deliveries from an artist/band of all time. Transports you to another realm of music in your mind. Truly outstanding. One of my personal favorite musical creations ever.

Throwing Muses by Throwing Muses

Not my type of style, but decent album. Some of the sounds were cool, some of the sounds seemed like some already used grunge ideas. Personal Favorites: Status Quo

Absolute classic. Gave us CREAM, Method man, Protect Ya Neck, Tearz, and so many more. Definitely changed the game

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Oct 26 2023

Generational classic. Wont ever get old. Amazing production. Such a raw album. Brought us endless classics. Such a different and creative sound compared to other artists who tried to capture this sound. Absolutely perfect in the time it was released as well. Lyrics deliver on too many levels. Grew up on this album, will grow old to this album. Personal favorites: Scar Tissue, Otherside, Californication

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Oct 27 2023

What bar bands WANT to sound like. Their guitarist went crazy. Mostly amazing record. Makes me want to have a couple brews with the guys around the fire in semi-cold weather if that makes any sense. Personal Favorites: Jesus just left Chicago, Hot Blues and Righteous, Have you Heard?

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Oct 30 2023

Great album. They definitely lay the groove from song 1 until the end. Cannot go wrong with some earth wind and fire. This is one of those albums you throw on and just let play through, every song is some sort of quality. Perfect for the 70s. Some of the best soul music around. Almost has that celebratory edge to it as well. So creative as well. Somehow they came with the soul jazz yet gave it that funky EWF edge. Personal Favorites: That's the way of the world, reasons

OK Computer by Radiohead
Oct 31 2023

The album "The Bends" was not an easy album to follow up on. This album is paranoid, claustrophobic, and whiny.. in the best possible way. Lyrics are great, they portray a technologically dependent society and future, and a lot of deep messages about things like insanity, capitalism, etc. Album feels to me like the end of 'what was', which is what I believe Radiohead was trying to achieve. I could listen 100 times and still find something new every time. Personal Favorites: Climbing up the Walls, Exit Music, Subterranean Homesick Alien

A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren
Nov 01 2023

Never heard of this guy before. Weird and different, but cohesive and it kinda works. You can tell this dude was having fun making this music which is a plus. Sounds like he was just testing new sounds on some acid. Pretty cool experience listening. Glad I listened, this was probably ground breaking in 1973. Probably wouldn't listen again. Personal Favorites: Zen Archer

The Coral by The Coral
Nov 02 2023

Pretty surprised this made the 1001 list. Huh. Did not need to hear this one before I died. Not good Personal Favorites: I Remember When

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Nov 06 2023

Know a good bit of The Zombies, but have never actually listened to this album. For 1968 especially, it feels like an album that would do well in its time. Great Psych Rock for the 1960s. My only complaint is it almost sounds like they're trying to replicate The Beatles' sound at times, but honestly not bad either way. Pretty decent album in all, very listenable. Personal Favorites - Time of the season, Beechwood Park, This will be our year

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Nov 07 2023

Know some by Beastie Boys, cant say I was ever a huge fan. This album is definitely different though, I like it. Always have loved their raw approach to rap, this whole album sounds like they all chilling together rapping into the same mic live. Although they have this cool raw approach, their vocals can become tiresome and almost annoying at times. Also love their beats, they're all pretty dope. 5 piece chicken dinner is a funny addition to this album Personal Favorites: What Comes around, Egg man

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
Nov 08 2023

Don't know any songs by Donovan, never actually heard of him. Nice album cover. What a great introduction to the album with sunshine superman. Love the sound he achieves throughout the album, especially the guitarist. The whole album start to finish feels like a psychedelic journey. Great vocals, use and diversity of instrumental sound is impressive for the 1960s, definitely ahead of its time. Very satisfying Personal Favorites: Sunshine Superman, Bert's Blues, Season of the witch

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Nov 09 2023

Cool idea for an album, I'm just not listening to all that shit. I don't know if their idea transitioned into the actual creation as well as they would've liked, but still thought provoking. I hate that to find a good song or 2, you have to sift through 50-60 shitty fillers. Granted, this was created as a theatrical performance type of album, so it's more understandable when you know that. I didn't listen through every song but I read through a lot of the lyrics. There aren't a lot of love songs in this love album, just an album full of random genres with lyrics loosely pertaining to love in a not so direct way (aside from a few). All in all, it could've been good if it wasn't for its ridiculous length and collection of unthoughtful fillers. Personal Favorites: The book of love, All my little words, I don't want to get over you, I think I need a new heart

Throwing Muses by Throwing Muses
Nov 10 2023

Not my type of style, but decent album. Some of the sounds were cool, some of the sounds seemed like some already used grunge ideas. Personal Favorites: Status Quo

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Nov 13 2023

Never heard of the band or album before. They start off with a melancholy space rock type of feel. I like the idea behind the album and the very different sound they achieve, almost refreshing to see a band veer so far off the path of normalcy. Production is well done as well. Personal Favorites: Fight Test, Do you Realize??

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Nov 14 2023

Dude knows how to groove, get that shit straight. Great music. I think if he cut the songs down and summarized, these 4 songs would be pretty close to perfect. Although the free standing form is pretty dope the way this guy sings and the way the instruments fill gaps. Personal Favorites: Walk on by

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Nov 15 2023

Classic. Starter pack for some American summer barbeque brews. Wouldn't really listen to most of these aside from that though. Have to pay my respects where they're due. Personal Favorites: Cover me, Born in the U.S.A

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Nov 16 2023

Before even listening, I gotta give credit to the album cover. I don't really like the Pt.1-Pt.6 idea for an album though, I think titles give songs flavor and identity throughout an album. That being said this is no regular album. This is the album I'd want playing if I got abducted by aliens. Maybe Jean-Michel Jarre watched E.T. on psychedelics and got a bit too invested, that has a high chance of being the origin of this album. Would give this an extra star if the name was changed to Space-Techno-Odyssey.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Nov 17 2023

It seems pretty good for its time, just not a personal favorite. Common-ish lyrics and a bland album cover. Some decent rock in here, just not life-changing Personal Favorites: Lust for life, The passenger

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Nov 20 2023

Mannnnn, the fucking doors. Cant go wrong. In L.A. Woman, they bring the RIGHT ratio of psych rock, rock, and some deep blues. Produced beautifully, every song just has that sound I want it to have from an album in this time. Some good shit Personal Favorite: Cars Hiss by my window, hyacinth house, Riders on the storm

Nov 21 2023

Man every time I hear Johnny Cash i'm reminded of how emotionally raw his voice is. So unforgettable. May not be my or your favorite genre or type of song, but pay credit where its due. The sound he achieves with his music and voice in this album is filled with grief and knowledge. I gave this a true start to finish listen and its genuinely a beautiful album. Personal Favorites: Give my love to rose, We'll meet again

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Nov 22 2023

Thought a lot of the songs in this albu had great sound to them, creative lyrics, and were put together well. That being said, not my favorite type of sound or lyrics. Didn't appeal to me as a whole very much Personal Favorites: California Stars, Hoodoo voodoo, One by One, At my window sad and lonely,

Pump by Aerosmith
Nov 23 2023

After the first 2 songs, the sound of this album just sounds kinda outdated to me. Moving through the album, not much work or care was involved with the sound and lyrics, seems a little predictable and half-assed. Also have to point out how weirdly horny Aerosmith is in this album. Aerosmith definitely can and have done better. At least their last 2 songs improved for me, better ending/conclusion than the whole entire album. Personal Favorites: Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man, What it takes

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Nov 24 2023

Very very big fan of smashing pumpkins. This album displays creative sounds lyrically and musically, which is hard to create in such a common genre like alt-rock. Completely different than other albums you hear in the same genre, definitely one of the few to set the bar. Absolutely amazing all around Personal Favorites: Today, Cherub Rock, Luna, Soma, Mayonnaise

The Predator by Ice Cube
Nov 27 2023

This album is filled with some strong messages, delivered in a questionable way. Mostly aggressive fast beats are used, but there are the few that give a break from that and freshen up the album a great amount. Delivered us the classic It was a good day, which is a timeless song. Personal Favorites: It was a good day, Gangstas Fairytale 2

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Nov 28 2023

This is a great pump up, workout, or high energy album. Looking through the intensity and aggressiveness of these songs (vocals, drums, and guitar), it's pretty damn technical. They use a lot of speed changes and loose forms throughout which still sound organized in the end product. Still, not my type of music. Reminds me of an accomplished white suburban father sitting in his garage drinking bear and acting tough. Want to give less than a 3 opinion-based but for this type of metal, its impressively made to say the least. Personal Favorites: One, To live is to die

Survivor by Destiny's Child
Nov 29 2023

This was horrendous. Aside from the very first song in the album, every song was basically unlistenable for me. I would love to give credit to this one song, but honestly the beat kinda carried. When I listen to this 1 semi-okay acceptable song, I find myself wishing these 3 women were the background singers and somebody else gave the beat the delivery it deserved. All around, not good. Get this shit out of 1001 albums. Did not need to hear this Personal Favorites: Independent Woman Pt.1

Parachutes by Coldplay
Nov 30 2023

Some of these are definitely too sad for me to listen to on a regular basis. Regardless, to make an album deliver that spaciously sorrowful sound while still keeping the listener curious and aware is amazing. It may be sad, but don't let that divert you from hearing the genuine rawness and talent behind the lyrics, message delivered in every song, and relaxing tone throughout the album. Definitely makes the listener feel strong emotion which is relatively hard to accomplish while still creating something worth listening to. Personal Favorites: Shiver, yellow, Sparks

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Dec 01 2023

Not bad. Just good. Not great, just plain old good. I like their ideas, but a lot of these songs feel unfinished. While listening there were a lot of songs that had an AMAZING outline and great sound, but sadly left me wishing they went a different direction. Gives me blue balls because I know how amazing of an album this could've turned out to be, yet it turned out just okay. Idea's are there, just didn't come together full circle. Personal Favorites: Orange, Minnesoter

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Dec 04 2023

80's pop for ya. This album brought us 2 classics, girl just want to have fun is a great listen as always. Just... too much Lauper. The 2-3 songs I listed in my personal favorites are great; that being said, a whole album of Lauper is just too much. I don't mind hearing one of her classics every now and then and i'm sure this album had a more significant place in the 80's but.. Just too much for 1 album. Personal Favorites: Girls just want to have fun, Time after time, All through the night

With The Beatles by Beatles
Dec 05 2023

Any Beatles songs are super nostalgic for me, I grew up hearing them daily. The Beatle's got their popularity for a reason, they're amazing at creating great music. That being said, this is not the best of their work. Not bad, but not the Beatles you want to hear. The best songs out of this album are decent Beatles songs and the worst are not of their achievable quality. Not a bad listen at all, creative and interesting, just makes me want to go listen to other better Beatles albums. Personal Favorites: Till there was you, You really got a hold on me

Inspiration Information by Shuggie Otis
Dec 06 2023

On Spotify, Inspiration Information is only available combined with "Wings of Love". I looked up the songs in Inspiration Information and based off of those particular songs. One thing is for sure, this albums' tasty. It delivers those satisfying funky grooves you want to hear. Very interesting grooves throughout, although the build-up is much more solidified than the actual grooves themself. Has me wanting more out of some of the songs that I don't really get. Funky, pleasant, different, and itches your brain, all while leaving me a bit disappointed with what they delivered vs. what I expected from their initial builds. Personal Favorites: Inspiration Information, Rainy day, Aht Uh Mi Hed

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Dec 07 2023

I LOVE Talking Heads. These songs are great examples of having a lot of energy without making it manic. My one complaint about this album is that none of the songs really live up to just how good Psycho Killer is. That is their hit of the album and their ONLY standout-amazing song to me. If I was rating Psycho Killer it would be an easy 5/5, but no other songs are up to those standards. Nonetheless, different and amazing sound for their time, would never think this album was released in 1977. Personal Favorites: Psycho Killer, Sugar on my tongue
