Queen II by Queen
Dec 01 2023

I've watched 4 Shrek movies and that's NOT what an ogre battle would sound like smh . Hoping we get a little less Queen and a little more Ween

Dec 04 2023

Yeah I started something I couldn't finish too... this album 🤢 (jk, some good tunes here)

Blackstar by David Bowie
Dec 05 2023

First and last tracks are such heaters

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Dec 06 2023

Short and sweet :) really wish they'd let us rarte stuff with half stars because this is a perfect 3.5 album tbh. Few dud tracks but the highs (Patterns, Homeward Bound) are near the S&G peak

Debut by Björk
Dec 08 2023

Maybe the 5th of 6th best Björk album but still undeniable

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Dec 11 2023

-1 star because I'm pretty sure by "It" he means s*x

Dec 13 2023

Pleasant! Singer not quite as dynamic as an Albarn or a Gallagher but some groovy instrumentals here. Love the Brit-hop / trip-pop vibe on Loose Fit (pinkie swear this was in here before others mentioned it lol) and the kooky horns on Bob's Yer Uncle

Ingenue by k.d. lang
Dec 14 2023

Now Lang I can get into

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Dec 15 2023

Not as good as the banana album or Loaded but still nice

Dec 18 2023

Imagining starting an album by inventing rap (joke tbc) and ending it with It's Alright Ma > Baby Blue and it's still not even the best album you release that year... 60s Dylan had that dawg in him

Elephant by The White Stripes
Dec 19 2023

The softer tracks are kinda forgettable but boy when this hits it really hits

Talk Talk Talk by The Psychedelic Furs
Dec 21 2023

Neither psychedelic nor furry

Back to Mystery City by Hanoi Rocks
Dec 29 2023

Everyone likes to pretend the 80s sounded like Blood Orange or Nation of Language or something but it actually sounded like this

The Next Day by David Bowie
Jan 01 2024

All due respect or whatever but if *this one* made it just how many Bowie albums are on this list lol

All Directions by The Temptations
Jan 02 2024

Pretty good way to start a new year

Spiderland by Slint
Jan 03 2024

Had never listened to Spider-Man before but can definitely hear this influence in just a bunch of newer 'weird rock' bands. Very cool, and good

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Jan 04 2024

16 tracks had me worried but this was a pleasant, breezy listen! Lot of this sounds like the sort of thing that would play in a Mexican restaurant (complimentary), but dug the weirder cuts best (Bongo Bong, Welcome to Tijuana, etc.)

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Jan 05 2024

One of the first albums I ever heard because a friend was discussing and not because of radio or my parents. Never really need to hear WWH again but they're an eternal fave sorry

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jan 09 2024

Lot of experimental stuff on here that I (a) wasn't really expecting and (b) doesn't really work but boy wow America is one of the best songs ever written huh

Olympia 64 by Jacques Brel
Jan 10 2024

Father John Misty think he Scott Walker. Scott Walker think he Jacques Brel. Jacques Brel think he the Hamburglar.

Jan 11 2024

Fully forgot I was listening to music as I worked. Liked the first track nest but doubt I'll revisit

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Jan 12 2024

Not for me. And that's ok!

Jan 17 2024

Some stuff hasn't aged well but a lot has! Will leave it to those smarter than me to unpack any Big Thoughts about it

More Specials by The Specials
Jan 19 2024

I don't think I have the ska in me... maybe if I'd started with just The Specials instead of immediately going for More

Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan
Jan 25 2024

Probably hadn't listened to this in full since my Dan phase in college but still remembered every song vividly. Bodhisattva is a monster live too

Jan 26 2024

Really interesting mix of tempos and moods that probably wouldn't work as well for a less gifted singer

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Jan 29 2024

Y'all really weren't kidding about Awaken My Love biting their sound

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Jan 30 2024

Enjoyed this more than I expected to honestly

Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales
Jan 31 2024

Disco II Disco is either the best or most annoying song I've ever heard and I think it's closer to the former

Heaux Tales by Jazmine Sullivan
Feb 01 2024

One very very good single (Pick Up Your Feelings) does not a great album make... nice to know the list has releases this current I guess

Liquid Swords by GZA
Feb 05 2024

Probably the best solo Wu Tang album

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Feb 06 2024

Had always heard they were a singles band and listened accordingly but wow this is just top tier funk and would throughout

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Feb 07 2024

All over the place (complimentary)

The Slider by T. Rex
Feb 08 2024

Cool hat, already forgot what this sounds like though unfortunately

Forever Changes by Love
Feb 09 2024

Mixed bag but the highs are pretty high. Track 2 sounds like emotional haircut toward the end

OK Computer by Radiohead
Feb 19 2024

Need a sixth star

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Feb 22 2024

Knew the first three songs ripped, nice to confirm the rest of it dies too!
