KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jan 08 2024

Smooth vocals. Starts strong but falters in the middle. Lacks cohesive melodies to match the vocals. Finds its feet towards the end with the strings.

Odelay by Beck
Jan 09 2024

An interesting listen with a futuristic sound. Breakbeat and hip hop drums. Borrowing from all genres to create a unique merge. Occasionally misses the mark but overall solid listen.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jan 10 2024

Fantastic powerful and peppy vocal performance. Focused storytelling throughout, with engaging backing track. Overall a fun album carried by vocal talent. Light 7

Jan 11 2024

Some interesting drums and guitar. Less exciting vocals. Feels era defining as the start of the 80s comes. A further few listens required. 6

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Jan 12 2024

Great example of blues repackaged with rock. Pulsing guitar drives the album. Songwriting leaves some to be desired. Really let down by mixing/production. Guitar should be front and centre. Strong 6

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jan 16 2024

Bowie album few good tracks but I don't find the vocals engaging. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would but doubtful to listen again. Strong 5

The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett
Jan 17 2024

This is one of the worst things I've ever heard with no redeeming qualities. It sounds like you gave a drunk homeless man a guitar and told him to record an album that day and you'll give him more hooch. Lyrically, melodically and artisticly devoid of anything. Give me a guitar and 24hrs and I truly believe I could do better. Solid 1

British Steel by Judas Priest
Jan 18 2024

Thought this was great throughout. Fun tracks, great style. Perfect example of the metal movement from it's era. 8

Aha Shake Heartbreak by Kings of Leon
Jan 19 2024

Great album. I remember buying on release. Never left rotation. Fun guitar and drums wutg unique vocals before they got all poppy.. Felt fresh and new at the time. Solid 7

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Jan 22 2024

It's a good album the highs are very high. However there is still quite a bit of filler. Enjoyable overall just if there was more quality it would be a great album. 7

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jan 23 2024

Good album with unique blend of sounds and vocals. Loses interest in the middle. Brings back at the end. 7

Jan 24 2024

Fun album, spoken word style. Repetitive beats bring the storytelling to the front. Prefer original pirate material but still a good album that's unique. 7

A Short Album About Love by The Divine Comedy
Jan 25 2024

Overall I couldn't get into this album. I enjoyed someone quite a lot. But it just didn't fully come together. Nice music but the singing didn't quite catch the grandiosity of it all. Light 6

Protection by Massive Attack
Jan 26 2024

Really good album. You can really hear the improvements from the last in production and Songwriting. Clean and engaging throughout.. High 7

Violator by Depeche Mode
Jan 29 2024

Enjoyed this some fun synth and vocals. Can really see the influence Depeche Mode has had. Enjoyable throughout. 7

Mott by Mott The Hoople
Jan 31 2024

Bland and uninspiring. Not much new or interesting. 5

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood
Feb 01 2024

Loved this album. Stevie certainly won with this wood. Great melodies, fantastic vocal performance. Bright fun and funky, a real gem. 8

The Clash by The Clash
Feb 06 2024

Good lyrics and music. Kits

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Feb 07 2024

Unbelievable album. Potentially the best debut of all time. Multiple iconic songs starting off perfectly. Ear melting riffs and solos. Unique powerful vocals and lyrics. 10

Feb 08 2024

Some really good tracks but melodically sounds the same. Pacing drums every song just merges into one. Vocals also lacking range. Still some fun tracks that would be awesome live. Light 6

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Feb 09 2024

Great work from Steve. Just tight across the board. Solid 7

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Feb 12 2024

Tight thrash metal showing why Metallica are so good. Really enjoyed. Light 8

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Feb 13 2024

Overall enjoyed good vocals and Songwriting. Light 7

Feb 14 2024

Great example of nu metal era. Some highs but overall lacks quality across the board. Still enjoyable high 6.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Feb 16 2024

Enjoyed this much more than I thought. Alive was unbelievable. Overall really solid album with good average and a few good highs. Strong 7

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Feb 20 2024

Beautifully talented piano but after 15 minutes you want more variety. Interesting nonetheless 6

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Feb 21 2024

Enjoyable first half smooth easy and fun. First song is a banger. After a whole album. Does get slightly repetitive but an interesting album. Great for chilling. 7

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Feb 22 2024

Fun album but not enough to keep me engaged. Good background jamming music. Strong 6

The Next Day by David Bowie
Feb 23 2024

Bowie, rather uninspiring. Some good melodies but singing and Songwriting doesn't do that much. 6

Feb 26 2024

Enjoyable album with some great tracks. Strong throughout. 7

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Feb 27 2024

Enjoyed the album some fantastic 80s riffs and production. A dip in the middle with a few top tracks. Lacking consistent quality but still good. Light 7

Feb 28 2024

Solid album with some interesting tracks didn't do enough though. Light 6

Mar 01 2024

Interesting album with some great strings. Unique vocals tie it in. Light 7

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Mar 04 2024

Not engaging. Singing really let's this down. Some good melodies.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Mar 05 2024

Some amazing songs on this album. Some that don't add much. Overall the highs are very high. Masterful unique vocal performance from MJ. Encapsulates the era perfectly. Light 8
