1001 Albums Summary

Prime example of Operatic Rock. Slice of time a la Rocky Horror.

Smooth as hell combo of standards, blues bop, and straight soul. Hella low key dinner hang music, adjacent to Montgomery, Christian or Bird.

A couple/few indie bangers, but lots of angsty Hwhite pre-internet teenager music. Hwhite, with a big H.

Wonderful example of late 50s/early 60s Latin dance hall music. With clever use of dynamics and key changes, it keeps you engaged without wearing you out. Great dinner party music.

Interesting album that definitely ages itself. I think of it as some really early Gorillaz demos where they haven’t found a voice yet. They play with time signatures a bit, different textures and what not. Calling this a “research” album for future projects.

Some seriously tasty shit. Afro-beat with hints of souka (sp?). Fela is always pretty great, but this album is exceptional and very accessible for anyone dabbling with Jazz/Afro-beat

Almost like a 70s pre-curser to Psych and Doom Metal, just without the high gain. In the realm of King Krimson or if Pallbearer was born in the 60s

Kind of whiney. Crosby works great when balanced by someone else, but kind of grating on his own.

Pretty hard time sticking with it. Precursor to Doom Metal, which is a vibe but not active listening
